Doing mundane tasks like trying to make something to eat (especially if you have to use loud appliances) becomes like a horror game. You don't want to go out of your room for fear of who you might see. Every journey outside your room becomes a game of hide and seek culminating in a mad dash back to your room. I'm sure it wasn't intentional but maybe there's some artistic interpretation to be gleaned there.
