I have about 20 guitars and I have them all hung or in stands in my man cave. I worked very hard to acquire them so they are always on display and I play at least one a day.

I topped out at 3 amps and 3 guitars at once, and no matter what, I always had a favorite. Clearly a number 1 guitar that would only get subbed out when I was too lazy to change a broken string. Amps were a closer call, but even then it was switching between two and having a clear 3rd wheel. Now I’m happily a one-amp-one-guitar guy; we’ll see how long that lasts.

I obsess over this too. I have 11 guitars and 5 amps. I feel everything should get played and gigged. I keep a detailed rotation log documenting every time I take a guitar to a rehearsal or a gig (I don’t document when I pick them up at home). I also document every string change/setup and amp tube change. If I notice something isn’t being played often enough, I consider selling it off. I love the variety and practically limitless combinations of guitar/amp permutations.

I love the smell of guitars when you open the case have since i was a teen would walk miles to a music store own thirty guitars amps seem to come and go have owned many over the years i'm 65 hope to buy many more ! Peace out later,!😊😊😊😊😊❤

Lose not loose

I have 15 guitars and I do some "cycling rotation" so I can play them all😄, Use them and not lose them. For example this week I'm playing my Suhr Modern only, next week my Fender Custom Shop, 3rd week the Gibson Les Paul 1959, 4th Week Ibanez Jem, 5th Week ESP Kirk signature and so on and so forth.....If you have a collection, you should USE and Play them all instead of gathering dust. Even for just 1 hour a day, you will get to know your instrument more.👌💯

It's such a cool thing is Music, specially when you get to a point of learning by listening, though the stringed instrument is a gift from the Gods!!!.....every guitar is different and every player is unique!!!...🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

I have been learning for 3 months now so naturally I have 3 guitars, one amp, and 4 capos. 😂 I keep them on a rack in my living room so I can see them all the time and grab one frequently throughouut the day. I have an Ibanez acoustic, a Taylor GS mini acoustic, and a KazTone semihollow electric. The one I grab most is the KazTone (Kazzy), but I do spend time with the other two as well.

12.5 guitars and counting (one is an in-process project build lol) and 1 amp. My Genz Benz El Diablo combo gives me the gain I want and solid cleans, so I don't really need another amp. I could see adding a smaller Fender amp like a Princeton, but more focused on finishing up any upgrades and that project build and then a pedal board build.

I just got a cherry 335….I’ve been saving for a few years and sacrificed a few other guitars but man, it was worth it! Family heirloom guitar. I’d rather have it than 7 guitars

20 guitars, a bass, and 6 amps, 1 6space boat in the family room....I have no GAS for the first time in a LONG time, but like was mentioned in the vid, I rotate thru ALL of them, and enjoy the uniqueness of all of them, thru any/all amp/pedal configurations. Usually rotate 6 guitars out per week. Amps a couple times a month, I even have 2 different boards built for clean and dirty amps. It's a sickness, but I'm at my limit space-wise. The toy box is FULL! 😇 (for now)...... no brand loyalty, just tone and playability loyalty......

I’m really proud of the fact that I play all the guitars all the time! What helps, most of all is they’re all* out so I can grab them easily, and then second that I play different ones in different situations. I’ve got my best acoustic, a cutaway, upstairs in my work from home office so I’m playing that all the time - quick little break, or watching lessons or reading a score on my desktop computer. The rest are all* out in a rack so it’s easy to pick the one that suits my inspiration. One is a bass, for bass things; I got a 12-string for certain songs; my first ever guitar, an acoustic, is for when I want an acoustic sound; and then I have a semi-hollow body which I prefer for songs with bluesy solos and a telecaster which I prefer for strummy or biting songs. For me I just have one good amp and one cheap one I keep for the bass or if a second player visited. I would love to upgrade that second one, get a proper bass amp, and then buy three others just for the beauty of them, but I haven’t. Cost is a factor but the bigger one is space - I live in a duplex so can’t crank them up and don’t have the room to have a bunch of amps out. A third factor is I always played on an acoustic until quite recently so I am more used to doing without amps and pedals - they aren’t as much a factor in my sound, at least not yet. I’m still just trying to play the right notes! Okay last of all, the * is because actually my tele now lives in its case because I bring it to lessons. Being in the case, it doesn’t get played as much at home, but I do play it every week at the lesson. And there’s my little novel for you all!

I have 12 guitars and 12 places to have them live outside of their cases (in 3 different rooms in the house). The two in the living room are the most played (one acoustic, one electric), but they get rotated regularly. I only have 3 tube amps, but they stay out in different rooms. They sometimes get rotated between rooms.

I'm down to about 6 amps, 21 guitars and 3 pedal boards. But my stuff now are mostly custom shops and high end amp. I swore off balsa wood import guitars and solid state amps. Except for a Katana😂 Ymmv...but i'm kind of a gear snob now. I do rotate and play them all.

I have learned that all I need is a Strat a PRS Se custom 24 spalted maple top and a Epi Es 339 and my Fender Frontman 212r and love it

Got my second amp from ya's a few days ago. I want more! More Sound!

A certified electrician who I jam with, wired the electrical for my guitar room. I have two switches, one for lights and one for plug ins.I leave the amps plugged in and turned on. Acoustics on the wall and electrics in the rack...speaking of racks, I once (before Sean was born) picked up a young lady who showed me her new bra with front clasps. I broke it. Nice clunky Ds though. I typically play 3 acoustics daily and rotate in a couple of the rest each week. None are in cases (actually one is, I was out of town).

5 guitars and I rotate through them each week. Tuesday was "12 string Tuesday".

I pick off the wall whatever guitar I am feeling that day and I try to rotate them! Been really big on my strats lately but I rotate in my 335, tele, Les Paul jr and Mustang occasionally! They seem to be my go-to guitars, and I have a new sunburst 60s Vintera arriving any day! my 3rd Vintera. The Vintera line is perfect for anyone wanting a vintage guitar but only has so much money to work with! but I have been hankering for a vintage guitar,,,been gazing the Reverbs for a vintage Mustang or Duo Sonic! thanks guys,,,,good luck on getting to 100K.

I currently have 41 stringed instruments that I enjoy…my purchasing qualification is: Looks, Tone, Playability & Price…if you don’t like the way it looks…stop here…not gonna buy it…Tone has to be different than my current conglomeration of tones…playability is a must…and finally…price…my 41 stringed instruments cost less than most Les Pauls…I’m currently down to the final five guitars as I’ve spent the last couple of months giving each guitar, base, mandolin, resonator, etc a cleaning, oiling, intoning, neck straightening, restringing & much much more…can’t wait to finish…but all are being played because they’re all beautiful and so much frickin’ fun!!! Here’s to a bad case of GAS!!!

So true. I play my guitars more than my amps. My Dr Z gets the most use. Unfortunately my Mesa’s get the least love and they are great amps.

One of the after effects of the pandemic was guitars and amps multiplied. Strange side effect, but…I rotate em all and enjoy it plenty!

For electric, 4 amps and 4 guitars - 2 low watt for home use, two higher wattage for stage, what I have can cover all the flavors I need, a Vox, a Marshall, a Fender Brown face style custom build and an Orange. Guitars the same deal, a single coil, a humbucker, a P90 and a hollow body. I keep them out on stands at home and can grab one quick all the time. If a guitar would stay in it's case in a closet for more than a week, I would just sell it. I never looked at them as a collection - they are tools and a good craftsman always has his tools at hand.

I have a dedicated room for guitars. It’s only about 9’x12’ but can get 50-55 in there. Some on the walls, others in cases under tables I use to work on them. Have more scattered about including 3 on a wall where I swap out the guitars for 3 different ones every few weeks… It’s a sickness I tells ya!!😅

I only have 4 guitars and 2 amps (and a 4x12 and 2x12 with different speakers). There is one guitar that is my favorite by quite a bit, so I mostly play that one. I do play the other 3 too at times, but I wouldn't really call it rotating. The amps/cabinets I do rotate.

I remember the good old days, but I only had a couple guitars. I could keep track of when I change the strings and had the main one I used for gigs and one for back up now too many guitars can’t remember when I change the strings which one I used in the last gig. But it sure is fun having so many guitars

I have two '59 bassman ltd amps, a bassbreaker 45 combo, bassman 500, and a blues jr fsr tweed. I have more stringed things than speakered things. The latest addition is a 2024 gibson sg standard bass. I had to sell a couple high end epiphones to help pay for it(im still paying on it).

Got handful of guitars and amps. I play all of them. Pedals on the other hand after my revolving door with them. Found just need some basics (OD, Loop, Tuner) a guitar and an amp (which are rotated)

I'm down from 18 guitars to five.. Even when I had 18, I tried to play each one at least once a week. At five, I'll play all five over a couple of days. I keep them in tune and on stands. I may just grab one and play just for five minutes, but it got played.

I sell stuff I don’t use, but right now I’m happy with everything I got. They all have a place in the collection, and most of them are played as often I can. My favourite is probably my Collings 290, but that is not leaving the house. Two ESPs for my metal band (different tuning), a couple of Gibsons and a Maybach for my punk band. A Reverend that someone else is borrowing. And I’m waiting for parts for my partcaster Esquire I’m getting for my 50th birthday. I have only one amp, but I love it. I once sold it to try something else, but ended up getting it back.

I’m not fancy when it comes to amps. I have 2 Roland Micro Cubes set up so I can play in my living room or bedroom at a somewhat quiet level. I have a PRS Akesson,a PRS 245 I souped up with Dragon II pickups. A Peavey Vicious I that looks like Devin Townsend’s white V and an Epiphone Greeny that I got used for $800 because it came without the case. I play them all at any point during the day.

I have 10 electrics that I rotate and play - my catch & release phase is over. The one I practice on the most has stainless frets so I don’t wear down the frets on my pricey R8 or DGT. But I dig ‘em all, even the made in China / Mexico ones.

Lol... My rig is basically the antithesis of you guys. I'm using fully digital equipment through and through. I'm talking about a Line6 Helix, going into a row of 3 loopers, then into a mixing board, driving 2 self-powered PA speakers (Line 6 Helix). I've got a drum pad so I can make drum loops, with my guitar going into one and aux). It's the "no tubes here" special. Actually, I created it in 2021, thinking the world would close down and tubes would go away. So, I built a sound around potential scarcity. Still, it's wondrous. The anti-amp rig. Wonderous means.. There's more pedals amps effects and sound mods then I know how to use in the thing.

Instruments and tubes and diesel engines must all be used regularly to maintain top condition. Amps: simple, Fender modeler and Roland Cube Street. Had big tube amps, didn't need them, I play at home or jams. Guitars: my down fall: 18 hooks on the room wall are the limit. One out, one in. (*usually*) But the reason I do it is if it is in a case it is not near as likely to get played. Some sessions I may play 4 or 5 different guitars. Go To's: electric Eastwood Rockerbox LTD DLX, Sidejack Baritone acoustic: Martin OMC16e Ovangkol or vintage '77 Takamine F400 12 string but have fun and play what ya brung!

If you can embrace mid priced guitars it’s easy to build up a decent collection and rotate through them. I hang all my guitars so it’s easy to just plug and play. The more the better!

Enjoy them. Have owned many and currently pulled back to a handful. Hard to beat a couple of great teles and a 335. Tone follows the neck so I swap those on occassion and enjoy trying different neck pu's. Agree on amps. They are the best value for money - particularly the small wattages.

I’m happy we’ve been getting more and more Sean. If I want to loose or lose that’s my choice 😂 Definitely I use more guitars than I do amps.

I have a Strat that I play more than any other, even though I have other Stats. But the funny thing is when I go to play my Telecaster, SG, Les Paul, or Slick SL60. I realize how much I enjoy them and love them. But that one Strat keeps pulling me back. Next thing I know I've got that 1 Strat back in my hands. Same thing with my amps. And I always want more. What can I say, I'm a sick puppy. 😂

I finally got it down from 15 various types and brands to 4 Les Pauls (one Gibson, two Greco's and one Orville). But, a semi-hollow is hopefully in my near future. I play 'em all and rotate 'em as needed for gigs. Same with my 3 tube combos. There's never enough pedals! Though I've got those down to around 20.

Ive pared down to almost nothing. After over 50 years of playing everything, I play the same setup all the time. a Tele and a fender amp. Minimal effects if any. Perfectly happy.

Sold all my guitars except one acoustic ('55 Martin D28), Fender Geddy Lee US Jazz Bass and Fender Vintage Series Strat....all I need these days

Pedals only seem cheap... its deceptive... until you put together a small board and realize you blew over a grand at $120 a pop... you could've bought a nice new guitar or amp!

Out of the 8 guitars I own, I also really only play 3, but I am also an amp collector. Specifically Dr Zs. I have 3 amps from the good Dr. and they all have a different character, and am looking to add a 4th. Guitars are cool, but great amps are WAY cool. 🤟🤟

I have 30 guitars, 3 in the living room and all the rest upstairs that get rotated every week or two. I play through a Marshall and Orange 100w at home and a Orange 35w at church. I use an old Boss DD20 at the end of the chain to split the signal. What I got instead of a Harley!

Have over 30 amps and play a Princeton or deluxe reverb like 98% of the time. lol. Although I have been branching out lately into a vibroluxe reverb. Guitars have over 60. They are all out on hangers. I love the fact you can grab what ever tickles your fancy if you’re looking right at it. I do have a few that I can’t say I play hardly ever but have been reluctant to let go just cause they are cool

About the time I achieve most of the guitar gear that I’ve wanted, suddenly I couldn’t be bothered to mess with all that gear all the time. I just want to plug in and play. I’ve even been enjoying playing my acoustic guitar lately The upside is I’ve finally learned how to play all this nice stuff I have. I’m looking forward to having more time to use the stuff

I love looking at my gear, too (which is sprawled out in my living room for easy viewing and access), though I am a minimalist. (S-style guitar, 6-pedal board, Fender Pro Junior amp.)

My latest is a Bass VI, totally different animal!

I have a modest collection of electric guitars (8) which are a nice mix of USA and modded imports in the iconic shapes and pickup combinations. They all get played in my home studio and at band practice. I try to cycle through two different guitars a week. The imports get the majority of play time at shows because the band plays mostly dive bars and low rent outdoor gigs. I like different amps too, but my Helix LT and Tonex ONE let me access a dizzying array of amp/cab/FX sounds. My all-tube combo collects dust most of the time.

I have 3 electric guitars and one a acoustic. I have just the one amp with a 7 pedal board. Need at least one fender style guitar. Considering a T-shaped object. It's just all so expensive. I buy most of my stuff used these days, unless it's not available on the used market.

I own a brownface '61 bassman 6g6 head and matching 2x12 cab. Ive had it since 78. I rarely use it now but when I think about letting it go, I plug it in and remember why I keep it. Probably oughta sell before I expire and my wife puts it in a garage sale for $50 while telling the buyer to: "Get that ugly old thing outta here!"

This is the first time i've seen Sean and, don't take this the wrong way, but reminds me equal parts of young Edward Norton and Clifton Gonzalez Gonzalez. I dig his style.

I'll admit it I watch ya to see where the convo goes. Quick question/survey, I've owned a couple of Jaguars but have never really bonded with, or even liked any of them. I love my Tele, 335 and strat, in that order though, should I risk a Johnny Marr sight unseen or just buy another amp? Still kicking myself in the ass for selling that Jazzmaster, but haven't layed hands on a new vintage one of those either.

Got 10 big Amps and 7 Boutique/Custom Shop guitars and use most them regulary. (Ok, maybe not the backup for my live rig)

I try to rotate among about 25 electrics but I have to admit there are 5 or 6 I mostly rotate.....Gretsch G6228, PRS D/C 3, Heritage H-140 from '89, Palir Imperial, Forshage GT, and 1970 Ovation Tornado, 2007 G&L Comanche, 1994 partscaster (strat type with early 90's Lindy Fralin PUPs........... that's my main rotation. Amps..... I mostly use a 1965 Vox Pacemaker (the only year they made the USA Thomas Organ ones with all tube design ( a hidden gem I learned about from Kenny Vaughn..... A Andrews Specre '22 (clone of blackface Deluxe Reverb, and '94 Matchless Tornado.........

Some people are collectors and will not play the guitars to prevent wear and the devaluing of the collection. But it's understandable in that instance because they might have some subset within their entire collection that might be worth 100K

I have my main guitar by my side and play it daily. The rest of my guitars I rotate through on like a monthly basis and which ever one is out for the month sits next to my main guitar.

43 guitars, 3 5-space guitar racks. I rotate them out every few months so everyone gets some love.

64-67 Fender Princeton Blackface is the only amp you’ll ever need. It makes each guitar sound like itself. Crank the amp to 8.5 and rely in volume and tone knobs from the guitar. Maybe a delay pedal at most. Someone write this down.

I think the issue in the uk at least is that part ex values offered by shops are terrible so when you buy one and don’t use it much you are then reluctant to trade in so you keep buying “deals” until you have a room full 😂

I’ve been thinking that I have a ton of gear that just need to go. I got a ton of stuff discounted or super cheap but I think I have way more than what I need.

I love alternate tunings, It’s my number 1 excuse for why I need so many guitars.

I have a fair number of guitars and amps...tend to play 3 guitars the most and 1 or 2 amps. Why? Frankly it's because of convenience. They're there, right by my desk/chair. Until I decide to rotate something around. I should do that more often. I think some of my guitars might miss me and need a little lovin'!

I do have quite a few guitars, but I tend to play my American professional 11 Telecaster and Boss Katana, as it's just easier to plug in and play. If I want to use a valve amp, I have to pull everything out to get to them.

The Fender Tone Master Pro solved by amp addiction, but I am still buying guitars when I already have guitars that I have not played or seen in years. I'm sick. Leave me alone...lol.

I didn’t play ‘em all. Got rid of all but 3. Each has a purpose in my music & I’m still happy, play all 3. Maybe someone else is also happy to have one of those ‘like new’ old amps.

I have them all out on racks in a room with a humidifier and dehumidifier for humidity control, but as I get older I probably need to eliminate some so my wife doesn't have a headache when I am gone (she is 12 years my junior).

Bras aside, all my guitars are on a hook so I can rotate playing them. Amps I hardly play because I practice at night, so most of the time I’m plugged into my iPad for learning and rehearsing tunes. I had one guitar I put away and decided it’s needs to be sold. Don’t want to play it, so why keep it?

Collecting and playing - sometimes there's a difference.

I tend to rotate my collection, and with it they always first get pulled out, cleaned up, restrung if necessary, and the cycle continues.

I try to play all of my guitars (14) but have 3 go to's : my PRS, my Firebird, and my Strat. The LesPaul and 335 and acoustics don't see action that often.

If you haven't used it for a year, contemplate selling it (check on resale) and give it a week. Push the button...or not. Have a Roland Jupiter 50 synth (not a guitar) and couldn't sell and now it is my go to synth 😎

Sitting on a handful that should go. Got my mains, and the rest... need to move, I'm tired of taking care of them and not using them.

Yeah... I'm guilty of hoarding gear as most of us are. Now that I have some really high end stuff from the custom shop I certainly notice I have a few guitars that I just don't play. I've considered selling those and just funding another cs purchase but the market is so weak that it's better just to sit for now. I'm not in a rush, so it's no big deal. Just keeping those ones prestine to be sold at a later date

Always have my strat and sg on-hand, but I rotate out my offsets and my basses as the 3rd.

I record an album every year and I pick certain guitars to write a song on and then figure out what other guitar would work well with it on the track. If anything I don’t play my true favourites as much as stuff I’m trying to like. The only guitars I don’t play are few clunkers that I would get nothing for but I just can’t bring myself to donate to a charity shop. I’ve modded a ropey Korean BC Rich Warlock into a baritone and a cheap Westfield Acoustic into a Nashville tuning. Eventually I’ll figure out something to do to the rest.

I've got four amps and six guitars. I rotate through all of them.

Very simple. If I haven’t played something in two years it gets put on the list. If after three years I still don’t get along… I sell the equipment.
