Hey there, thoughts on the play room; I like the idea of having different zones for different activiteies. Like a reading corner that offers the kids a calm moment (if there ever is one 😅) or a café next to the toy kitchen. Don’t be afraid to place furniture in the middle of the room, instead of keeping it along the walls. It’s a great way to create tiny rooms within the room.
The book that my mom would read to us all the time was "I'll love you forever." It makes me cry now that I'm a mom and understand the sacrifices my mom made when my siblings and I were growing up.
I wish you post these decluttering & organizing videos on Fridays ☺️ That would be a perfect motivation to me for the whole weekend. I hope you enjoy your Sunday ❤️
You will be so glad you involved your kiddos; I did this when my son was little and now at age 13, he is do good at this! Hard work at first, pays off later.
The play room looks great. I remember when my girls were little and had a play room they had so much fun playing in it . Hazel was so cute when she said there is no more room. ❤️❤️❤️
My favorite books growing up would have been "Go Dog Go", "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish," "Be Brave Anna", "God Made Me Special," and several of the Amelia Badelia (I probably spelled it wrong) and Little Critter books. I even always played the Little Critter CD-rom computer game "My Grandma and Me" whenever i went to my grandparent's house.
amazing job as usual... the patience of Job... great motivation! one suggestion: the side table with the plant takes up valuable floor space, esp since you will eventually be bringing in a new bookcase... maybe install shelves on each side of window for the plants/decor... love the 'old school' playlist some of the new music is not as catchy... yes, I agree about being overwhelmed in cluttered stores, I have to pump myself up to go in stores like Ross and Marshalls 😁 Favorite books were Nancy Drew mysteries, a set of mini books with stories like A Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Jules Verne 20K Leagues under the Sea, Three Musketeers and as I got older, Judy Blume... Have a most excellent week!
I didn’t check the other comments so someone may have suggested this…the couch under the window with little table w/plant next to it. Then the white cabinet with bins under the mirror, with the kitchen playset on the long wall. With new bookcase to the left of the door. Also be sure to strap the bookcase so it won’t tip over. Love all your videos 💛
The book I remember most from my childhood is The Poky Little Puppy-- a Little Golden Book my mom bought at the grocery store. I bought (nostalgically) a copy at Barnes and Noble-- plus the plush Poky Little Puppy. Kohl's had a bigger version a few years ago, too.
You are an amazing mom!! Your selflessness and nurturing ways make you a joy to watch. Love how you had the kids help. Have you thought about making your playroom into centers. A home center with the kitchen and a table and chairs, a manipulative area and a reading nook.
Looks great Becky! I also recently decided to put my girls in the same room and make one room just a play room for all the toys, and it was the best decision. Your one of my favorite people to watch, always gives me a ton of motivation so thank you for all the great content! Hope you have a great Sunday
I love the new playroom! I was also thinking that zones would be good. Perhaps a circular rug with the beanbag in the corner next to books? A one of those hanging curtain tents that attach to the ceiling to make the room feel taller and a lamp for cozy lighting. Kitchen zone, etc. Love your videos!🥰 One more trick: I got really tall bookshelves (anchored to the wall) and had some of the small piece sets in boxes up high on them. Books on the lower shelves. I used big white copy paper boxes and drew a picture of what was in them on the outside. (Marble Run, Trains, Little Car/ CitySet, etc) Then if asked for, I would take it down, kind of like checking it out of the library. Usually I would say, “lets clean up the toys first” and use it as motivation to get kiddo to put toys away. Then the box of toys would be a special treat! Kind of like toy rotation but not, As kid got older, he could get the special sets out himself, but was already used to putting them away after done, whether it was that day or a few days later. It helped reduce the amount of mixed in tiny pieces, without having to be uptight about it, Keep up the fun videos.❤️
Organizing videos like this are my absolute favorite. Super impressed at your ability to do it with the kids. I still think you have WAY too much available to them at one time. Those three huge bins gotta go. What I used to do is keep the bulk of toys in the closet out of reach and rotate the ones that were available on a weekly basis. Those two little bins per child in the book case should be plenty. Also looking at your daughters little hands as she plays with each toy is precious and makes me miss when mine were little. I’m curious, does making these videos motivate you too? I have three big piles of paper and stuff that I need to go through for my new office and this is giving me the push I need to bang it out. So, thank you!!!
I totally agree that they still have way too many! I'm very sentimental and it's difficult for me to part with things. I'm always working on it! Making these videos does motivate me too! I'm so happy my video motivated you to work through your piles of paper! 😊
Bendiciones 🙏
Loving the videos you've been working hard and so motivated!! The left side with the cube organizer under the mirror looked good, especially with the books to the left where the bookshelf would be, that corner wall would give it extra stability. And I agree the green cushion set would look good under the window with the side table beside it, then you have the whole right wall to experiment with! :)
Omg I loved today's video! I actually did the same thing today I organized my little cousins toys! And I did that before I watched this video!to save me motivation I guess?✌️😂 I love the asthenic/ classic person you are ! Keep the good work up to have a clean area!I always say!!
My favorite books growing up would have been "Go Dog Go", "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish," "Be Brave Anna", "God Made Me Special," and several of the Amelia Badelia (I probably spelled it wrong) and Little Critter books. You should really consider toy rotation. I don’t do the full Montessori method but I do the toy rotation. My daughter still makes a mess but it is an easy pick up. It would also be a fun video to watch you create a toy rotation video.
Love de decluttering and the organisation.. with kids there is always so many stuff and toys everywhere.😁 Maybe a bigger cube organiser is a options..for the books ( the books at the bottom and the bins up in the other cubs) and the toys together.. then you don't have a extra peace off furniture in the room.. ( sorry for the crappy English... I can speak English just fine but writing is a other story..But I still try☺️)
I got a dress up organizer for my daughter's princess dresses and princess accessories. It has a hanging side and a side with shelves. Would be perfect for Noah and Hazel's dresses and super hero costumes. Masks can go on the hanger with the cape or on the shelves
Hey Becky! I’m a fairly new follower (I found you the week before you posted the videos of the room switch). Thank you for all the cleaning motivation & for being so real & relatable as a mom & wife.❤️ I would love the construction pictures. My son is 15 months. His first birthday party was construction theme. He loves all things construction. We want his toddler room to be a construction theme. The pictures would be so perfect!
I remember you showing the pics to put up in your sons room. I’ve been keeping my eyes open for those to put in my grand baby’s room. He’s crazy about tractors and trucks Gosh what a job you’ve had on your hands Well done. Enjoy all the videos.
My son would absolutely LOVE those pictures in his room! Plus I also live in Michigan so shipping would be cheap lol I love the idea of having a separate play room for the kids, I have 2 one boy who's 3 and a girl who's 6. They currently have their own rooms but they sleep together all the time anyways I was thinking about maybe a bunk bed for them and having one room for toys because their rooms get crazy with all their stuff lol
You did a great job! It’s a great start! You still have so much toys left! I think my kids have a quarter of that ans they pkay so well since i got rid of almost everything! 😂
You have patience!! I remember sorting thru toys when my kids were little. It’s a huge task! You have such an amazing demeanor and the patience of a saint. The littles are getting so big!! Maybe try the nugget under the window and create a reading corner. Just suggestions. I’m not there to feel the flow of the room. I hope you and your family have a great week Becky!! ❤️
Get another (or 2) cube organizer. Use one for books and another for the rest of the small toys. Bigger toys in one large basket in corner. Just did this with my kids toys! Got rid of so much it was freeing!! But probably could still get rid of more. I just like things and I’m very sentimental and it’s so hard!!
Mine was “Go Dog Go”. I have book from when my kids where little still. Getting rid of books just isn’t something we do in my house. We just keep adding🤣🤣
Have you seen making book shelves to hang on the wall made up of pallets?? You can make them as long as you want or a shorter width but multiple in a vertical row on the wall
I think it's called "we eat dinner in the bathroom," seven silly eaters, love you forever, and the house book, oh and the glow in the dark spooky house and under the sea books, and my kids favorite book is we can't sleep by James stevenson
Sooooo jealous of your kids dr Seuss book collection!!!! Goals for sure lol Dr. Seuss books were my favorite growing up to read!! ♥️🤍❤️🤍 their so expensive to buy these days 😒
I have some ideas on the room first the green thing should be right in front of you, so put it where you put the kitchen and ikea cube. The ikea cube should go on your left side (where it was before you moved it). All the toys in the bin goes near the door. and the kitchen should go on your right side. Loved how you decluttered the kids toys. :) thanks for the video. Hope this helps!!
chicka chicka boom boom 💜🤣 after i typed this, i seen you also have it. love that book, at one point i had 3 different ones. i thought i had a huge collection and i think you beat me hahaha.
Yep. Because our kids had so many at one point that they had more toys than a bedroom to sleep in and play in but the second you go to go through them and you let them know what you're doing they want every single toy after that. So we told them that there's been a lot of family's with kids around their ages that lost a lot because of Hurricane Ida so now they hardly have anything to play with. After that they wanted to give some away
