After looking at some accessories and DIY solutions for this, I decided to simply try and mount the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter directly to my Playseat Challenge. The chosen place was at the extreme of the main strap, which is both the place where there's more resistance and where it is better placed (for a more natural handling of the shifter).
Surprisingly, it actually works pretty well and it is very much usable - especially considering that you won't need to spend any extra money.
Three tips to do so:
Wrap the Playseat Challenge's frame with some black electrical tape in the places where it contacts with the shifter, so as not to damage or leave any marks;
Don't place the shifter perpendicular to the Playseat strap, but as much parallel to it as you can. This will help stabilizing your shifting movements and also allow the H shifter to be placed at a more natural position (the reach is simply perfect for my arms this way);
Use a plastic cable tie (works better than the velcro strap shown in the video) to bring the threaded rod together with the Playseat frame. This will further stabilise the shifter, canceling the lifting effect;
Do the mounting of the shifter while seated on the Playseat itself, so as to create more resistance on the strap. This makes all the difference!
*Check the photos in the video to better understand the description above.
(UPDATE: One year has passed since I have this setup and everything's still working fine. From time to time, I'll need to readjust the shifter in place - mainly because when the chair is folded, the strap gets floppy, so the shifter (being heavy) will naturally slide a bit out of place. I have found that a bigger, stronger cable tie will do the trick, and nowadays I don't even have to deal with that. In the end, I had zero problems and never missed a shift or anything because of it.)
Hope this is useful information for someone considering getting the Playseat Challenge, but unsure about it not having a shifter support.
One last tip: I didn't try it myself, but I'm pretty sure this can be mounted at the opposite side as well, suiting right-hand drivers as well.
