"Is that a serious question or?" You already know the answer considering the dude blocks anyone who even slightly calls him out and doesn't understand one bit how editing works.
Said multibilion dollar company broke few laws in EU and might have earned a class action lawsuit But no , its the consumers who are wrong according to Ponys
I'd normally just point and laugh at people being idiots, but it honestly kind of infuriates me how so many of them are downplaying the actual issue. Over 100 countries would have lost access to a game they paid for. Even if Sony gave refunds to every single one of them (which they absolutely wouldn't since that would tank their stock price), we'd lose a not-insignificant portion of the Helldivers 2 community. Seriously, I want to just slap anyone who says "Bro it's just an account, it only takes 2 minutes". That's not the bloody point. That's not even getting into Sony's terrible account security.
@@ryanshnoztwazzle8605 wrong. the outcry was BEFORE the delisting, because people were aware of the PSN not being available worldwide and so suddenly requiring PSN means those countries' players would have been screwed whether the game was delisted or not.
@@ryanshnoztwazzle8605 nope, everyone was very mad before the delisting. Sony has shit security everyone knows that, linking your steam account to their network only raises more red flags. not to mention PSN isn't available in every country or region, so people quite literally lost the ability to play the game despite paying for it, it was a problem even before the delisting, but it escalated even further. PC players comprise the majority of the playerbase in HD2 so the fact they pulled this move would cut a lot of the people out from it. i saw a picture once with active HD2 players and the steam charts showing active steam HD2 players, 80k+ people were on steam, a little less than 20k were PS5 users. the entire stunt would have made Sony lose a huge amount of potential profit, not to mention that supposedly, steam has given out refunds for HD2 so they already lost money. none of it was people "crying" or "throwing a tantrum", it was a protest and denouncing of Sony.
Imagine being such a bootlicking fanboy you gaslight people do defend a corporation. It's the jealousy tho. They lack personality, so they have to fill it with content somehow. A brand, a logo, would do that for them.
"You shouldn't care if the region locking didn't affect you!" Modern Gaymer completely baffled by the concept of community in a modern videogame where the playerbase actually cares about itself.
Yea, real smooth rain moment to point to individual hacked accounts, which means lack of security on individual part, and compared it to the very server getting hacked and having all the information pulled on the spot, including source code...
When PSN got hacked back in 2011, I had to get a new credit card, change my phone number, and the email that was attached to my PSN became swarmed with spam mail. The notion that PC gamers fine with having to sign up so many different launchers and accounts is dumb, no gamer wants that shit. And it's frustrating to see this tribalism between gamers, if we stood together no matter the platform, the gaming landscape would look much different today.
Ponies: "Give sony full extensive access to your computer with their awful cybersecurity and put your livelihood in actual danger so that sony can get what they want, otherwise, you are a stupid. Sony is lord, Sony is king, Sony is life."
@@roguespartan2854 It's so disingenuous to say "just make an account, it's just an email" Can you imagine that absolute shit fit PS players would have if a game they bought for the PlayStation required them to make an Xbox account in order to play. But at the end of the day, it's not about an PSN account in its self, it's the bait and switch, and the fact they can take away something you bought and paid for, which is funny because it's what...2 or 3 months ago that Sony fucked over people that bought movies on their platform, and deleted it from their accounts.
@@lowpinglag don't forget, rumours spread about the hack, around a month before they actually came clean and they denied it at the time. Not meant to be better knowing, just a fact that I ingrained in my head, when I first looked up the story years ago.
"You are okay with all those accounts tho!" No, I am not. I don't play EA or Ubisoft games both to not support their nonsense, and because I do not want either their bloatware launchers, nor accounts. I do not allow Microsoft store on my pc, and an external launcher or account is usually a big argument against buying a game for me. I play on steam, I do not need more accounts, I'm not giving any company more info about me, if they really want it, they can buy it from Google like everyone else!
It's shocking the sheer amount of playstation fanbois who's arguments about this entirely amount to: 1. Stop having self respect. 2. Stop caring about people other than yourselves. It's pretty sad really.
As a normal thinking PS5 player... I am sorry there are people like this. We ar not all like this. Thank god. I am very happy for the PC players win over sony. We are all Helldivers.
"The mandate is fine even though I don't like it myself because you can just break TOS in order to get around this anti-consumer data harvesting and control network signup..."
1:16. Correction: Over 170 would have been cut out. Plus, even the ones that weren't gonna be cut out would still have to do stupid shit like how someone in Ukraine was told by PlayStation Support that the ONLY way to create a PSN account was through the console itself. (As if that's gonna even be possible in the middle of a goddamn war.)
Dude, take out the war part and it's STILL stupid, you telling me you have to buy a huge, expensive console for just one game? Jesus christ, more and more, I'm convinced that this was a desperation play to boost their PSN numbers. There's no way Sony could be this stupid.
@@LordTyph. You're saying this about the company that literally cried to regulators in order to try and block the ABK deal. (And FAILED, to boot.) No company has a limit to their stupidity.
@@LordTyph 100% they're boosting MAU number. I heard that Sony PS5 sales number aren't actually sales figure, it was shipped figure meaning some PS5 in the some warehouse or store are counted as sold by Sony. And the fact that they missed their sales projection this year means that they need those PSN to please shareholder who look into MAU.
Lvault is wrong about MS accounts, they ARE used for far more than just an Xbox login. I use one to log into Windows, Office 365 AND Xbox. Even businesses use them, does he think they only use them to sign into an Xbox. When I told him that on X he just told me I'm moving the goalposts 🤦♂ "Do you not drink water to protest about countries not having access to clean water?" 🤦♂ What does he think you make Tea and Coffee with?
Wait did that dude just say Sony is as big as Microsoft? For real? I don't honestly need to hear more. I feel like he said this stupid shit cause he knew it would drive traffic to his channel.
"PC players are Xbox refugees" I was a big PlayStation fan before PC gaming. Loved the PS1, PS2, PS3, and even the first few years of PS4. I dabbled in Xbox here or there, but hardly at all for anything outside of Morrowind or occasionally COD. In the 2 decades of Xbox, including achievements synced with PC, I've only hit 50k gamerscore, but I'm over level 300 on PSN trophies for an account I made when I got a PS4. If anything, I'm just a PS refugee who sought better things with PC. But somehow the Ponies always want to ignore this very real possibility and live in a fantasy land where nobody would ever grow tired of Sony's crap.
Listen, I'm not, at all, for this account linking bullshit. I've always been a PlayStation player, but I miss my Xbox One S, and I hate that Sony does stupid things when it comes to Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade, and Ghost of Tsushima will always require it for its Legends mode. That, I am NOT a fan of. I keep saying Sony is slowly turning into Arasaka, and I don't think that's, honestly, very far off.
The hilarious irony that this dude doesn't like having to use a Microsoft account to play Sea of Thieves and stuff on PS, but he's downplaying the Helldivers 2 PS account thing.
The funniest part is that at least Microsoft is upfront about their account requirements and isn't so much of a damn fool as to launch a game in regions without their service.
The helldivers community, whether it affected them or not, lived by this quote "A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others"
What Xvault said about "Oh, this guy who said the game was gonna die at launch is now defending the game and criticizing Sony. Oh, what a hypocrite!" irks me. I hate Madden and think they're a plague on gaming, but if EA suddenly said "Hey, you gotta pay 60 bucks a month to play madden on top of what you pay for PSN and Xbox live", I'd be right there with the Madden players storming the EA offices.
I swear these people never cease to amaze me. All my friends who play helldivers would not have bought the game if it required a psn account. If it was stated in the beginning that you needed a psn to play, then we wouldn’t have bought it. We wanted the game, not the service account. When we get other games, we are told up front that you need, NEED the account in order to play. It was never optional so I get to make an informed decision as to whether I want to purchase this game or not. There is a certain order to these things that make them ethical. This is the difference between a random hookup before you end your current relationship versus after ending a relationship. One is just a random hookup, the other makes you a cheater. And the pc community carries helldivers 2. You don’t mess with a community who could be a major revenue resource who has no real ties to you outside of the product itself. We aren’t part of your PlayStation ecosystem. So we could legitimately just walk away and you’d be missing a ton of revenue.
I've been in the PS eco-system my whole life and it's sad to see how attached people can get to something like a plastic box... to the point where they will go out of their way to defend some delusion of grandeur and importance. Honestly, being able to mock them is the only good thing they really bring to the discussion.
At this point, the first mod i'm installing on PC Ghost of Tsushima is a Master Chief model while playing on an Xbox controller if it means to spite clowns like this
Mr Bald and Foolish definately needs a reality check. I think sony should take a bunch of games he played for and just suddenly make them unplayable, then see what he thinks about that.
is it me or do PlayStation fanboys seem to be the only ones clinging to the console wars anymore like i rarely here anything from Xbox player or pc players like yea there's some Xbox and pc fan boys but anymore if i hear console warrior stuff its a PlayStation user
Even now, after all these years, the "PC Gaming Master Race" still gets under the console fanboys skin, it was a meme then, its still a meme now and these are grown men who never grew up.
Imagine your only argument for security is against a Service that hasnt had a Major issues since 2015. I. I just can't. Also in my country, You're required to give Sony your Face or Legal ID. Not even Facebook asks for that to sign in. FACEBOOK. Also, Bro really just asked if people are going to stop eating and drinking because other people can't? Bro legit Not only missed the point, but also used, Besic needs as an argument to Luxuries. What?
I grew up with a playstation 1&2 I stopped caring for the system when sony said they were gonna charge for psn, sony needing you to have a psn account for anything is stupid.
In his 40's by the way, even when MS does something remotely bad, you have him, Reforgotten and Methcastguy reporting on it more than they cover PlayStation. Let that sink in.
I wish some PS game will require mandatory account for some obscure service avalible in only 4 countries. And this requirement will start being mandatory after game gets popular. Only problem with a PSN requirement was that it was made mandatory AFTER people got the game. Oh, by the way - in some countries you can make PSN account you MUST own a console in a first place.
Tbh if the psn connection were required on pc at launch I dont think it would have sold well. Apart from that the people who were required to make a psn still wouldnt be able to leading to refunds earlier.
@28:15 bold of you to assume he looked over this trash fire video for errors.I made the unfortunate error of selecting his video to listen to while working and had to stop it before even making it half way to a point where I could switch to a different video he was so infuriating to listen to. I 100% believe the only editing he did was to add the images he thought would make him sound smart and hit send thinking he's the smartest man alive.
If absolutely nothing else, of the region lock, security issues or data selling wasn’t an issue enough. Having initially the CHOICE to chose between psn linking or not then having my ability to choose for myself taken away is enough for me to have had boycotted it, which I did
Did he call ThatGenericEric a good dude?!!! The guy who went after gene park and mocked him having cancer in the past because he liked dragons dogma 2 over Spider-Man 2. WTF!!!
Had a complete idiot excuse the whole shit with security by saying "credit card companys get hacked all the time" Every word i wanted to call him was a TOS violation
look his access to information is so limited by not being in the PC realm, that he doesn't even understand the core issue: 2/3 of the world suddenly having no access to the product.. This is what happens when you see the world through corpo lenses. Btw to open up a PSN account in Europe they ask either for a copy of your ID or a biometric face scan. With Sony's background in keeping data safe? lol. So much to the "120seconds of your life for depositing a fake e-mail adresss" argument... These people don't know what they are talking about.
Did Generic Eric really just say "They're lucky they aren't being forced to pay for PS Plus"? MFer, the game would not have sold well if PC players were forced to pay for PS Plus. Wat. The only reason why Sony can force people to pay for PS Plus is because they have full control over their platform with no competition when it comes to the storefront.
I'll never understand the whole console wars or pc vs console thing. We're all here to play games so if you want to fight then fight the people screwing you over.
I’m so proud of the Helldivers community at large on both pc and ps5 for not tolerating this dick move from Sony. Genuinely, console players can make good changes too if they just do what pc is doing. We as consumers have much more power than we think we have. All they need to do is take the boots out of their mouths and have some self respect
this game has kernel level access due to the anti cheat, they have more access with this game alone than all of steam, i was unaware sony makes a pc operating system
Guess I'm a Karen now. Klussy, I would like to speak to your manager... To tell him to give you a raise for providing such lengthy and girthy salt. 🐎 🧂
I commented a few times on that specific video I believe it was removed twice. But had to point out a few inconsistencies. 1) It is in your right to not like an extra accounts for a game. Especially when on Sony's website they state two different times when they were selling the game PSN was not required. Not that it MAY be required or sometimes is...they state clearly 2 different times it's COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. This likely was the largest contributing factor in changing their decision, not the negative feedback. As this would involve an easy legal victory in many countries as it was false advertisement. 2) The response from the community managers made it blow up, make no mistake. They even made criminal accusations for some people AND those people still have a job. This is also illegal, even in the US. As making a direct criminal accusation is one of the clear cut cases in the US where it's defaming. 3) He points out the 77,000 accounts being hacked monthly on Steam. We don't know these account of if they are fake or burner accounts. But lets take the worst case scenario. That this is innocent people with their data stolen. Sony has had 12 hacks in 10 years that cover OVER 100 million different accounts including leaking the demo of the Wolverine game last year. It would take Steam 100 YEARS of hacks to have the sheer number of hacked accounts as Sony had for ONE hack. They were even taken down for over 3 weeks two different times. 4) Sony adds nothing. Game clearly worked fine without Sony their network on spyware and banning features isn't a good thing. To make a PSN account you need a pic of your ID AND your face. Steam has much much looser requirements. Let it be known that Sony was known for removing all games from someone's PSN account for swearing online. Not banning them from the game, or giving a warning, or anything. Just take away the games...you don't own anything with Sony. 5) Let's ignore the people that can't make a PSN account as there was some sort of work around discussed, and lets pretend it will go through. So again this is holding Sony is the best light. This does not change what Steam has to do with refunds till it's fixed or the block they still have up for all countries that don't have PSN access. Again this is still up where 177 countries can't buy the game. Also does the refund even cover MT? As the game has Super Credits. I guarantee there's quite a few players in these 177 countries that have bought Super Credits. Yet the only thing that seems to change their mind was the legal actions....PERIOD. Proof? Look at Ghost of Tsushima. They will require PSN for that...read their tweet. They will still try to add PSN requirement but HOW they did it will change. Full disclosure: 80% of the active Helldivers are Steam users. Sony doesn't own AH studios. In fact most exclusives they had recently are completely 3rd party. As they add their own censorship for over 10 years over Anime, Movies, Shows, and Games. I don't like Sony, don't want to like Sony, had a Sony account that was hacked on my PS3, and Sony shrugged it's shoulders. I will not directly support Sony.
Xvault sounds like the weird kid who handed in their assignment last minute and expects an A but, all they did was write their name and copy the dumb kids answers.
I don't get the Karen comparison by those people. Do they even know what a Karen does? Karens do try to get things in their way while not having a right to. This is not the case. When they found out, they started to call us crybabies. Those idiots.
My dude just because I don't live in the countries that can't access to PSN does not mean that I can't complain about this. And really we're going to pull the oh you drink clean water and ECT, is this guy for real?
29:13 "We need to put more pressure on them". Following his logic, why should others care that playstation refund policy is bad, as it does not affect us? I mean, i dont stop drinking water due to someone not having it.
"Steam has also been hacked it's not just play station".... Right so let's add another risk factor by giving my data to play station so if either get hacked I get doxed one way or another!
honestly, not even 5 minutes into this video and i don't have to watch anymore, he doesn't know what he's talking and is not informed enough. the simple fact it's required to link your steam account to a PSN one not only raises network security red flags, but completely restricts access to the game in certain regions were PSN is not available. i even heard that supposedly, steam gave out refunds to people who i assume were in that situation. the delisting of the game in all those countries only reinforced this fact, and also how Sony changed their FAQ or whatever it was from "games do not require linking any of your accounts" to "*some* games may require you to link an account" (paraphrasing). not to mention, how is this gonna bring any profit to Sony? they literally lost money doing this with the supposed refunds as well as any potential profit from delisted countries, HOW is this a profitable move???? so the fact this guy doesn't get these facts speaks loudly of how far he looked into it.
This is the Saddest state/insanity of gaming ever. Imagine being a year 0 og xbox/playstation console user (ur the true ones who got xbox/playstation to the position theyre in today) and microsoft/Sony tells you "we are still learning whats best for PC players" LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Remember back in the SANE days when PC players was getting annoyed on purpose and microsoft/sony was focusing on making good games for their first class xbox/playstation console citizens? We are truly living in the end times of BASIC SANITY. Instead of them learning whats best for PC players - they should go back to learning whats best for making great consoles that ship with good complete games......like the OLD SANE FUNCTIONING DAYS. LOL u cant make this up. as more and more time goes by....u can just witness insanity taking over more and more we contine to let weirdos run the show. FIre phil spencer.
Tweeting the president about the abk deal, bombarding the FTC, multiple online petitions, doxing patients, sending d pics to developers and the audacity to call pc gamers "Karens" while have no understanding of the situation. Typical pony
As someone in his early 20s I'd really like to know how this grown ass man who has to be AT LEAST in his 30s can be bothered to put that much energy into the adolescent console war I grew out of 8 pissing years ago.
For me as an xbox main I dont hate playstation I hate the fanboys and what sony does with the playstation.. uping the cost the games right outa the gate, charging for cloud storage and upgrade fees for the ps4 games I already owned, having far worse backwards compatibility along with having horrible customer service
Oh, I remember that dumb video that once I realized they were all Sony fanboys and the video totally missed the point of the Helldivers 2 backlash I downvoted it and didn't even watch it.
I live in an area where I can create a psn account but still refuse to because of Sonys track record of being hacked they legit get hacked once a year. They ain’t no small hacks either millions gets affected due to data breaches. Yes Microsoft does the same with account linking, but you wanna know the differences? One has security while the other doesn’t that’s why we are super upset with that. Plus Microsoft was upfront with the linking and didn’t lie about it being optional.
Alot of countries wouldn't be able to get PSN. Including but not limited to Antarctica, The Holy City, and JAPAN. Sony's home country can't even play Helldivers if this was going to go through. ((yeah, i assume they have a Japanese alternative, but still funny AF, imo))
My main problem is why people like him defend these corporations. Like, Sony can put their big boy pants on without your help dude. Matter of fact, they probably have someone to put their pants on anyway. No need to apply for the job. I just don't get why anyone defends these things. I'm a huge Toyota fan. Love my MR2. But when Toyota did that whole subscription model for, what was it, the remote car start crap? I didn't defend them. I called them out on it. What am I going to need a sub for a function that is already there? Gonna update my cars playlist and make sure my heater is perfectly tuned? No, they just wanted to charge for something that was already gonna do its job. Screw that Toyota. Anyway, people who defend these massive corps need to have their heads checked.
I own a Playstation Specifically for Bloodborne and Demon Souls. I Also play on the pc for all my other games, I know no one gives a shit about that part but i hope it puts some weight behind my claim that im not picking sides here. But funneling over user accounts to your service just so you can make your share holders happy with big numbers all while affecting thousands if not more players is bullshit. I got a playstation so i am expected to make a psn account, I play on pc (using steam) so i was als expected to make a steam account, I knew what i got myself into here. But dont tell a player base you can play your game, have your account on your respectable platform and then a month or two later be like "You know what, Fck You". Edit: What i mean with not picking sides is that i am not specifically hating someone because they play on a playstation or because its sony, moreso the fact that this is just anti-consumerism.
Imma say this right now. This whole Sony situation with Helldivers reminded me of the bull that happened last year with Wizards of the Coast and the D&D OGL drama
Not sure how to comment, I play xbox, but I'm delighted PC gamers stuck it to Sony, if Microsoft did this I'd still support them. I mean despite the nonsense sony has been pulling, I haven't forgotten the recent xbox head of marketing saying developers shouldn't try to make curvy females. Yeah let that sink in. Honestly hoping we can back pedal all this anti-consumer practices both companies have been participating in.
Sadly, I doubt that, but even if they did, I honestly don't think I would pick it up, just because of the recent events and the fact that we know, they will try this again and again.
I left a comment saying his video is extremely bad and this is the reason why he gets made fun of .. one of his subscribers replied back saying he rattles other content creaters with truth bombs ... the stupid stupidness of his community..
I will give Ghosts of Tsushima 1 other thing: there is an amazing single player story that you can play WITHOUT a PSN account I feel like that is also important to mention
Sony wanted to force PSN on Pc so they can show their shareholders to look at all the new Acc and not forget that shit that's going on with Sony censoring Stellar Blade then people deleting their PSN ACC because the censoring of Stellar Blade when Stellar Blade DEVs said the game would not be censor but sony force a Day 1 patch to censor the game
lol his assumption that all banned countries are poor was hilarious. You can literally drink tap water without issues here in Lithuania and amazing internet.
