It’s so funny that you asked that, I’ve had countless debates with people regarding the mic... and we all agree that it sounds better wired but it’s still passable when used wireless (plus using the headset wirelessly feels so free without anything tethering you to a controller haha)

wowVJsLTR i got the basic black one at target haha. they’re fun headphones. it could be a little distracting while playing because of the sound from the game and the sound of the chat overlaps a little too much

Niiice! Can’t go wrong with the black model, makes a nice little matching set with the black controller :D Oh I understand! I utilize the sound/chat buttons a whole bunch to find that perfect mix, especially with friends who may be a bit louder... and then the others who speak too softly haha 😆

Thanks! But, I can usually hear footsteps loud and clear in MW. I use the Flat EQ, and then I have the VSS (Virtual Surround Sound) setting turned on (the single button near the top of the left ear cup pressed). Do you happen to have Bass Boost mode on? It's also the second "On" setting stored by default if you haven't messed with the presets on the headset companion app. Bass Boost makes footsteps really hard to hear because gunfire and explosions just overpower everything. But the best thing to do is to use the headset companion app, go to the "adjustable eq" section and make your own setting by fine tuning. You can adjust it to your liking and store it into that second "on" switch setting. For footsteps, I'd suggest turning up the treble and lowering the bass.

That's honestly just MW. No headset or sound setting can fix how the enemy footsteps sound like your own.

Try reset it (google how to reset) see if there’s any fluff/ dust in the mic hole, also make sure you have them on the right ears. Slide the ear cups all the way down and it will reveal the L and R for left and right. My son kept wearing his on the wrong way so the mic was facing behind him lol. Hope this helps

To answer your question, it really varies from person to person... so you'll see other reviewers say its too tight and it bothers them, or that it's too loose, and other that think it's just right.. It's kind of like a "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" type of situation lol. Personally for me, it's pretty comfortable and my glasses don't bother me at all when I have the headset on... and if it helps, i have a large head according to the New Era Hat's fit chart (I wear a 7 5/8 ), and really small ears lol. imo, if you were to get this headset, get it from somewhere with a good return policy, and if it bothers you while wearing glasses, send it back :)

If you have the funds, I’d say the platinum is better. I believe it has 3D sound and the earcups are more comfortable and slightly bigger... I think it has a slightly better battery life too.

I've never experienced that issue before, so I don't think I can be much help to you. The only thing that I can offer (advice wise) is what everyone tends to do when they can't troubleshoot their electronic gadget, and that's to ask "have you tried resetting it?" This is from the actual Playstation Support Page Reset the Headset If the headset does not respond when you try to operate it, perform the following actions to reset it: Connect the wireless adapter to a PlayStation® system or other powered USB port. Insert a small pin or similar object into the hole surrounding the reset button in the wireless adapter, and push in for at least one second. On the headset, hold down the MUTE button and the VSS button. While still holding down the MUTE button and the VSS button, slide the power switch to position 1 or 2.

I probably didn't mention it in this video (most likely mentioned it in the part 1 vid) >.

Yup! You can use the headset while charging... you can also use it wired if it ever dies, just plug in the 3.5mm cable to the headset and the other end to the controller ^_^

You can still use them wired by plugging in a 3.5mm cable, preferably the one that it came with... But if you have to use another, make sure its a 4 conductor TRRS if you want your mic to work (it'll have three black rings around the plug).

Yup, all the same... the only difference is in appearance.

I wish I was an expert on these sort of things, but I know one thing for sure "wireless communication" can get so wonky, so things like microwaves or even your wifi router can affect a wireless connection. Amazon, search “lavalier microphone” and you’ll have a bunch to choose from :)

Sometimes, people accidentally wear the headset on the wrong ears and that can cause some muffled sound... also, turning up the gain in the settings helps. Other than that, if it's a really vital for your party to hear you (especially if you're playing siege or any other game like that), try plugging it in via the 3.5mm cable, it makes a heck of a difference. I don’t think so... Since using it wired is kind of a “passthrough” because it works with the headset turned off, I think it needs to communicate with the USB receiver in order to use the VSS feature.

@@wowVJ is it just me or does the vss sound less "rich" than the stereo sound, with less bass? just got the golds and to me it sounds like audio quality suffers somehow when vss is turned on. Just wondering since so many people find vss much better than the stereo mode for the golds. Thanks for your review!

Ummm, make sure you have them on the correct ears or try adjusting the mic gain in the settings... but the mic isn’t the best to begin with, but using it “wired” with the included 3.5mm cable helps the quality too (kind of defeats the whole purpose of a wireless headset though, but if it’s dire, then that’s your best bet)

Ummmm you can plug in directly into the roku remote if it has a headphone jack via 3.5mm cable... but if you start up prime or Netflix on the PS4, you can use the headset directly with the console and watch through there :)

This specific model? Not anymore, they’re kinda old now (from Summer 2018, I think?)... but stores do have the black, white, and rose gold versions... and I believe a dark gray, The Last of Us 2 edition headset just came out too :D

It’s decent, gets the job done... forward to 1:41 on my video to hear the mic test.

It’s kinda unfair to compare because the ps gold is wireless... but if you can go up a few bucks and get the HyperX Cloud Flight, I’d pick those up! Also, my favorite wired headset in the middle price range are the Razer Kraken Tournament Edition and I think they’re on sale at Best Buy for like $72.99 right now :)

Wired, you can just plug it in with the 3.5mm cable (aux cable)... Wireless, you’re gonna need a USB-C to USB-A adapter.

@Tonio That is because he is using the headset mic through a wired connection. When used in wired mode the mic sounds pretty good. When wireless mode is in use the audio sounds worse, but is still audible. It just sounds robotic and compressed when used wirelessly, but you can still clearly hear what the person is saying while they’’re talking through the Sony Gold Wireless Headset mic in wireless mode.
