They already said that they're going to give it the capability to play cloud games they just want it to work great... I highly doubt that it gets the full capabilities at the PSP. What people aren't realizing is that even though the PSP sold 80 million units up to date It was one of the most jailbroken devices Sony has ever made and it was used to pirate a lot of games.... People are dreaming if they think Sony is going to do the same thing again.. Most likely like they said it cloud gaming will be integrated and they will probably allow people to stream Netflix another streaming platforms through the device.. 41 gives me s*** I'm like you guys I would like it to happen but they weren't too happy about people jailbreaking and using the PSP to pirate the games so it doesn't look like it'll probably happen again...

Going to pick up the backbone tomorrow. The black Friday prices will go on unti cyber Monday.

when i first try remote play on mobile, i really think that when you press that button, the connection will be disconnected rather than hide the buttons

That's the only downfall for me. I took it to work and realized I couldn't ply anything. Ended up selling it cuz I play my PS5 when I'm at home

You need your console on to use the backbone also. The backbone costs $100 and the portal with a screen is $200. The portal is the obvious choice at such a close price comparison

Pretty much.. lol Keep seeing say this as it tells they have no experience with remote play. I have a backbone, and I've also have run remote play from my 12' inch tab Samsung 8 plus. When traveling a portal is just more convenient than a tablet and having to Bluetooth your controller, and in my opinion I couldn't stand playing a PS5 or PS4 game on a small phone screen. Even tho I have a bigger phone (Samsung note20 ultra) I still couldn't get into playing on a small ass screen..

​@@alphaj9 Not when all it can do is remoteplay the PS5 and nothing else it's literally a waste plus the Backbone is only $65 right and you can use the Backbone to remoteplay your PS5, Xbox or PC plus you can play Game Pass, Nvidia GeForce Now or Lumia with it. PS Portal you can ONLY remoteplay your PS5 and you can only do it at home or on a Wi-Fi network you own personally because you can't sign-in or accept the terms of use for public Wi-Fi because it has no browser. The PS Portal mind as well be a $200 paperweight.

This....bruh OMG this! This is the reason most people are buying the portal...100.00 for a device with no screen that you have to use your phone with, or 200.00 for a better device with a beautiful 8 inch screen that doesn't require your phone. Pretty simple math there....

@@corey_masseyThe portal isn’t “better”. The screen is lower quality than anything in your phone and it intentionally throttles your connection below 15mbps - which is barely enough for Netflix. They each have their own advantages but the portal is by no means better in the screen dept 😂

First, the Portal doesn't throttle your connection down to or below 15mbps, it works on any single step internet connections at as low as 5mbps and is ideal at 15mbps OR ABOVE and anything above 15mbps is unnecessary because remote play is not impacted by internet connection speed when used in your home wifi network. The fact that it works on less internet bandwidth than it takes to reliably use Netflix is actually a selling point for the Portal, not a neagtive. In fact the only time when internet connection speed ever becomes an issue with remote play is if you use it outside your home network and connect to your PS the way your phone or any other device connects to your PS, which is through the strength and speed of your internet connection and even then the connection is based on the strength and speed of your internet from the device, ie your cellular service or the connection of the outside wifi you are on. If there is any valid criticism that can be made with the Portal its that it doesn't have its own internet browers so any two step internet access is not allowed, but even that is solved by a phone with a mobile hotspot. As for the display....its a native 1080p display which is also the max resolution of remote play regardless of device. If your phone or tablet or any other device is set to anything higher than 1080p the remote play app automatically lowers to it 1080p because remote play doesn't play any higher than 1080p. Also I have a Samsung S23 Ultra which is quite possibly the biggest phone screen on the market right now and the Portal dwarfs it in actual screen real estate without the screen being so big that its awkward to hold. We are not going to even talk about the fact that the controller portion is a dualsense controller, so holding it feels like holding my PS5 controller.....not just because of the Dualsense features which are awesome on the Portal btw.... but because it actually is the same design philosophy as the dualsense controller with a screen in the middle. Why it took Sony to create a device that actually feels like the controller people are used to playing on is beyond me, but I am so glad that they nailed the design because for a person who plays on PS5 the Portal feels perfect....in every concievable way. Look I get it, if you can't get one because its sold out or if you are happy with your Backbone+Phone or Dualsense controller paired to a tablet combo, i am not here to hate on you, have fun with it ......but for me.....the Portal resolves issues I didn't even know I had with remote play. Its like Sony took all the little exceptions and concessions people were willing to make with remote play and resolved them with one nearly perfect all in one device.

Portal: Limited to PS5 Remote Play & (Maybe) PS Cloud streaming No Bluetooth connectivity $200 Backbone: Xbox cloud stream iOS/android play store games Nvidia GeForce cloud stream Steam streaming (Maybe) PS Streaming at some point. Phone can Connect Bluetooth headsets. Idk, just the ability to play games without a network connection should be enough to win in a comparison. BUT to each their own, I really hope Sony makes a Portal 2.0 that has native games and offline gameplay ability 🙏🏿

Your PS5 has to be on to play Remote play regardless of which device you're using.

Also if you’re reading this, you already have your screen, and it’s almost certainly a better, 1080p at least, OLED. It can play more than cruddy streamed PS5 games, and it can do it from anywhere your cell signal takes you. Oh yeah and it’s cheaper too

It doesn't burn your phone screen nor is it laggy for me + the battery, screen size and controls are the only valid issues

You literally only get ps5 games for the portal and steam remote play/gamepass/moonlight/emulators/mobile games/geforce on top of ps5 remote play with backbone so not really lmfao

Gameplay and quality wise is the same, the benefit of the portal is a bigger screen than most phones,(most tablets still bigger) and you are actually using a real ps5 controller with all its features, which you can still do on your phone without a backbone. I’d still take the backbone because I can do more with it. I can stream from my pc with better graphics and a higher frame rate than anything I can play on the ps portal using a ps5

Bruh....what? What subscription? Remote play has been the same since PS3, you need internet connection to access tour PS5 console from a remote device. If you are in your home, which is how Sony advertised the PS Portal, the Portal will use the same wifi that your PS5 ic connected to. Yes you can use a number of other options for remote play, but none feel as good to use as the PS Portal which feels like playing on a regular Dualsense controller which honestly is why alot of people brought it. And if you willing to spend 70-100 dollars on a device with no screen and its all good....how does it make sense that you have a problem with a better device with a beautiful 8 inch screen for 200.00?😂 Bruh...its sad how ya'll Sony haters will just make up stuff to hate Sony for. Its to the point where I question some of ya'll mental health.

The subscription I'm referring to is "Backbone+", which Sony fanboys keep mentioning constantly as a reason to not get the Backbone ("well, you need the subscription, so the Portal is actually cheaper" is a very common defense I've seen a lot for the redundant paperweight that is the Portal). But the thing is, Backbone+ does literally nothing if you just want to use the Backbone with your phone for Remote Play (and a few emulators), since the features it adds are irrelevant for that use case. And my point still stands that if you want to have Remote Play with the genuine DualSense experience, you can literally just use your DualSense with your phone. Clips specifically for this exist, and they are compatible together

It is called the portal for a reason. It is a portal to your very own PS5. Think of it as a controller with a screen. A very expensive controller with a screen.

No Bluetooth is a HUGE miss though. The screen and gameplay may be nicer, but the added cost and lack of features doesn’t make it as clear cut.

Not really the phone is better ...psp that's just a Accessory with the screen no processor and u have to be next to a ps5 that's lame
