Peninsula ain't cheaper than Las Americas, TJ Max or ROSS. Lots of Tijuaneses, maybe too many shop in San Ysidro. Hard to find parking with all the TJ plates.
About the getting hassled thing. Being part Asian could make people think you are from Mexicali. There a lot of cholos chinos there. You don't stand as different because of that. Ironically, I am Hispanic but look like Erik the Red and have gotten bad vibes and bad attention when driving an American plated car, especially from police. Also even though I speak perfect Spanish something about having green eyes and a giant dark red beard looking a bit like the Güero Action Bronson makes a lot of border-minded people incapable of processing that I am a native Spanish speaker. It is strange because in Mexico City and Spain I have never had anyone assume to respond in English when I speak Spanish to them, but in TJ I encounter ignorant people who assume every Güero is a gringo all the time, and feel like I am condescending them by speak Spanish and respond in English. It is the strangest vibe I have ever encountered.

Thankfully, not so much. I’ve been pulled over a couple times and questions, but never really taken in or robbed. I speak a good amount of Spanish and stay in my own lane and recognize uncomfortable situations. I try not to get to loose in public. I’m not really flashy so the money or local girl thing aren’t factors

Since you live in Tijuana, maybe you should learn to say the name of the store properly since it is una cadena de tiendas de moda de España. So it is Sara because in castellano Z makes an S sound.
