Well I can officially say I’ve brought back a siren from the dead! After Forest Hills, our plan was to come over to Pleasant Hills VFC for the 1:00pm test of their siren. Unfortunately, I came to find out that the siren had been shut off due to noise complaints not long prior to our visit, however the fire department was so enthusiastic about our interest in their siren that they allowed us to sound it one more time! That was really awesome and cool of them! One of the firemen was an old school siren enthusiast and he went into great detail about the siren and its history, along with other sirens in the area. The department hopes to someday relocate the siren to the actual station and cosmetically restore it. The siren was shut off due to “noise complaints” but the fire fighter told me the person who complained about it didn’t even live near the siren. Enjoy!
