That was really funny, but kind of justified. From the company standpoint, they gain productivity by having two branches trying to market the same product and introducing competitivity. From the employee standpoint, they need to do better than the other branch. Neither sales team wants the sales of their counterpart to beat theirs, so with them making the first move for LTT, they want to get the dub.
Someone that ran a Kickstarter campaign once told me being 8 years late & not able to ship everything was still good... because they said "most kickstarters fail". I guess 🤷 thats just the mindset when there isn't really any negative consequences to not getting it right.
Just a side note... when a large amount of the people didn't get what they ordered the response to them was... if must of been there fault but they could reach out and sort it. To which evidently they were left on read after doing so.
If the kickstarter was honest and advertised as needing the money to try and finish development with no guarantee I would say cool, but they all lie and say they "just need the money to pay for manufacturing"
@@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718 I was bored a couple weeks ago and decided to follow through. Basically, just ends with a Rickroll without fun 80s music or Rick Astley's cool dance moves.
i could have never financially recover from it the trauma would haunt me forever it really just made my heart beat a hell faster god i was dead for a sec
This is a really cool concept, and I would love to see it get fine-tuned into something amazing. I can see this being a game changer for anyone that travels a lot for their work or even, depending on the price, being a primary multi-monitor solution for college students pursuing degrees in fields where this would greatly increase their productivity.
For someone that really needs several monitors for multitasking and is on business trips a lot I can see this be really useful. Set it up in the hotel room with power cables, get some remote work in, pack it up after and done. Probably fits in any bag and you can get a pouch for the cables, easy. Cool stuff.
The simplest, cheapest and most efficient way is probably to get the laptop you want + the portable monitor(s) you want and just plug them in. You can get way better specs that way.
Love the e-mail explaining the two company thing, specifically saying "Do not mention ofiyaa! Do not tell your audience about this!"...and LTT said "screw you, we are doing ALL of that!"
Yes, but to be fair they did still honor the spirit of that request. They barely mention the other name, while making Kwumsy sound kind of fitting. They gave it a good review and pointed us right to them.
I'm guessing a lot got lost in translation. I'm guessing it's more like "Hey, we worked really hard on this sponsorship, please don't give credit to our competing team" kinda thing. Which is fair, considering they aren't only competing for the same client base, but for the same company budget too. If Kwumsy spent their budget on promotion and marketing, but Ofiyaa get sales, then the OEM company might decide to sack the Kwumsy team for using more money, but getting less sales.
i'm so glad you guys covered this product because i ended up with one as well. it's...not great, but it's functional. hoping another company improves on this design!
I really do hope there is a v2 version of this. The worst part of work travel is the sharp reduction in productivity related to the computer setup. I used to literally bring two laptops and use Mouse Without Borders. This is not a product without a market. College students and people just wanting to save space are potential users as well. They just need to get it "good enough" and I'm totally buying it. I dig it and I'm hopeful.
@@MidWitPride lmfao good luck using 8 inches then 💀 if it floats your boat bro go for it, but I can promise you not a single person will go out of their way to specifically get a tablet just to use as a screen 😂😭🤣 use your brain jeez
That's pretty badass. I wouldn't use it for gaming though. I don't even have a gaming laptop. I would love it with my ThinkPad X1 though. I could picture myself rocking up to the café and being the productivity king. I do pen testing for a living, and 90% of the time I work remotely. Having this would make it way better working remotely. I could go somewhere else to get shit done besides my home office.
My dad has an additional monitor for his laptop that attaches to the main screen, although that’s an add-on. I’m surprised it took this long for an official one that’s multi monitor out of the box to happen.
@@j-janz The only ones I know of are the Thinkpad W700DS and W701DS. First one came with Core 2 Extremes, and W701DS is slightly more modern with Nehalem stuff, could max out with an i7 920XM, 8GB ram and Quadro FX 3800M, so not completely inept but still rather ancient.
My colleague bought the Duo attachable screen from kickstarter, he actually received it and it’s quite decent. Only one screen but much slimmer. I think Justine did a video review of it
I've had the Ofiyaa P2 (11") for a few months - it makes multi spreadsheet work a breeze - no more ALT-TABbing through when working across various spreaddys. Also, good for those times when you are working but also able to side binge watch a series. The Ofiyaa has a metal U shaped bracket to attach to the bottom of the rig to support the extra weight that is hanging off your laptop. Also, only has a faux suede bag to store the unit, also no SD slot. Plenty of cables to find a way to power it. Power ports are on the monitors not rig. Rig is sprung loaded. I have mine rigged - laptop USB-C power into P2(1), P2(1) to P2(2), P2(2) to laptop USB-C power in. Quite a mass of cable spaghetti but it works a treat.
While not 3 displays, I’ve been using a software package called Duet Display with my iPad on my Windows PC for about 5 years now. It gives me a pretty darn good second display when I’m on the road / away from my office. I’ve paired it with Ten One Designs “Mountie+” for pretty seamless operation. They update the software pretty frequently and offer a paid plan for extra features. Best part, the touch screen of the iPad works with Windows, if you need that type of things.
Man. Linus reeeaaaallly loves his job, doesn't he? I mean if I were he, There is no way I would be doing so many videos, so many streams, etc etc. I think he has an excellent team that can carry a lot of weight for him.
I hope someone at the linus team sees this, but this is not a legitimate product made by this company. Its actually dropshipped from Ali Express, and the reason multiple companies are selling this is because anyone can resell this. It goes for $269.99 on ali express, Look up "laptop screen extender" and its the first product to show up on there. So they are making about 300+ dollars a order off of a product they did not make.
Thank God this video exists because I had just recently seen that Portabl Slide thing in a Daily Dose of Internet vid and was planning on buying it eventually… but apparently it’s a scam.
There are quite a few products on the market to do something like this. Most support 1 monitor, then you can mount a 2nd version of it behind that first additional monitor. I can't remember off the top of my head what version we use at my MSP, but I haven't received a complaint from the 5-6 clients we ordered them for.
I actually just got a KYY portable monitor today and so far I like it. 1080P with HDR (My other monitors are a 4K and 1080P without HDR) and the price (albeit on sale) wasn't bad. It has 2 USB-C full function ports and a micro or mini HDMI (I always forget which synonym for small they use). Pretty sure it's also a Chinese brand and the documentation is limited but honestly not too bad. It does say in the manual that you may need to use a separate power supply for full brightness (I think it said something about power saving presumably for the connected device). Only issue I've run into so far is that I can't get my Android phone to display portrait mode in a vertical orientation but that's apparently an Android issue with the only solution being to use some commands that require root access (I'm not rooting my phone since I'm concerned it will cause issues with my bank and insurance apps). Since both USB-C ports are full function I can use either one for power and the other for video and so long as the charger is powerful enough (it came with a small 2.4 Amp wall-wart) it can actually power the monitor and charge the connected device (works on my phone, haven't tried it with my Pi400 yet but I'm thinking those'll need more power). To be clear I've only just received the thing so I don't know how it will last long term but it looks pretty good for the price so far. EDIT: A question for actual humans since our search overlords (I've tried both DDG and Google) can't understand my query. How do I figure out what images and/or videos I have saved on my Windows 10 computer are HDR. I'm pretty sure my phone takes HDR images but they're still just JPGs so how can I sift through images on my computer to figure out which ones actually have HDR content (I'm pretty sure it's a different codec like JFIF vs EXIF but I can't find a way to actually organize things by the codec only the capsule). Since I didn't have HDR capability before (except on my phone) I've never put much thought into it but since do now have a device that display HDR images on my Windows computer I'd like to be able to search for them.
Linus acting skills improving…? Not sure. - I love how Kwumsy mentioned in email to not mention another brand, but LTT do it anyway cus that's just how they do things 🤣 Hopefully the marketing team doesn't get fired, at any rate, a positive reviews from LTT probably worked really well for the company
The best way to get a portable triple monitor setup is one of those asus zenbook duos, and a usb-c Lenovo M14T monitor... been living with this setup for a few years now. Its super portable, nowhere near as clumsy as this, and all 3 screen are touchscreen.
Every laptop user should know this. 1. Just “raise the bottom” let more air into the machine and you will found CPU&GPU each them reduce 10~15°C or in high usage will have more efficacy 2. You shouldn’t be use “laptop cooler”, cuz that effectiveness actually just like you put two bottle caps under laptop to raise it. But the cooler still use your limited power and it will let CPU&GPU become hungrier. Unless it has an “independent power supply”. There also very many ways let your experience better, like “gamer most of the time should limit cpu’s PL1&PL2 and offset voltage” “discrete graphics card overclock”. “Replace the thermal paste and clean the fan dust”. Sorry my poor English, hope it's not too hard to read. Just want help you guys. From Taiwan
this would be perfect so creators working from small working spaces like a tiny home or a van, super small and can be packed away easily for travel, but you also get the full creator workstation experience on to go.
Give time and community engagement bigger brands will try stuff like this and it can only go up from here. Ultrawide cameras in smartphones, LG was one of the first (if not the first) to have it and now everyone has one.
I was so glad when you realised you need to put in both cables. thought th whole time: "Just give it more power!! It clearly can do more if it doesnt get brighter but you can still increase backlight in the osd"
Depending on the price, I feel like this would be great for someone getting a laptop for their first PC. I remember back in the day using mine for school work during the day, then getting home, connecting it to my TV, then playing Minecraft and using the other screen for chatting on discord or RU-vid. I didn't really have the room for a monitor (TV was wall mounted), since my desk was small and usually covered in books, stationery and homework.
My USB-C laptop portable attachable monitor the DUEX Pro ($170 on Amazon), you just plug it in, to USB-A or USB-C and it just works. Even on my phone. It uses magnets to stick to the laptop.
I'm actually currently using the Ofiyaa 3 screen for work. It works, it's not great. I use it in a home office(my kitchen table) and set it up and take it down when working from home. For that use it's awesome. The portability isn't great. It's definitely clumsy. And I have to use 1 USB-C DP cable for one monitor, and 1 USB and HDMI cable for the other monitor. My laptop only has one DP USB port on it. Most of the time I just use it as 2 screens as it's more convenient, and if a third is needed, I'll pop it out. Would I recommend it? Yes, with reservations. It's a lot better than having just one screen, however.
I just use a portable display (HP E14). You can even daisy chain them if you want more displays. Pop em on the table and you dont have to strap crap to your laptop.
I feel like there's a chance that Kwumsy has some preproduction documentation, molds, designs from Slide-n-joy and due to their failure they've taken reign of the project and created this product.
The fundamental laptop ergonomic issues still apply. The screen is too low relative to your hands when typing. And, if people decide they want this setup all the time instead of real monitors at eye level, there could be real medical problems as a result...not to mention the small size of these screens straining people's eyes when viewed at desktop distances. All in all, it's fine for demonstrations at a trade show booth but definitely not for everyday productivity use. Several years ago, some company made a laptop concept with a screen that could be raised significantly above the keyboard to eye level for better ergonomics.
This seems to be acceptable, it's certainly far from good, but for what it is, it works nicely and should be easily improved upon, hopefully they manage to do that
I was waiting for a followup video about this. I can’t hate this product. It’s not my go-to purchase list. But if I get an extra 90K, I’d make a novelty purchase of this for essay writing purposes.
Personally I think that somewhere in the MSI or ROG prototype labs , there is a quad 240hz screen laptop ( 3 main and 1 on the keyboard) that has hdmi passthrough meaning you can plug in a Xbox or PlayStation and have it up on the screens. The specs would be god like with a 3090ti and a factory overclocked i9 with 128gb of ddr5 ram. This all sounds very nice however it would cost a fortune
The only person that you will see in your life throwing a laptop not cause it lags while gaming or stutters while working but working totally fine and doesn't meet your productive expectations.... . .. ... .... ...... ........ ............ IT"S LINUS BITCHES >>>>>>> Welcome to LLT ....
Tried a similar monitor with same mount and tripod from another brand last year, didnt liked it and tried another one with magnets for mounting and without kickstand, use it still today with my notebook
Here I thought this would be Xebec but interesting to see if theirs would have similar issues.. or if they're also similar to the situations mentioned at the end.
A much easier solution: A tablet that exposes itself as a wireless display. Newer Samsung tablets have that already build in, for example; and there ought to be apps on the respective app stores that do the same.
Mobile Pixels have shipped a three monitor solution since 2019 with a similar sort of on screen display that you demonstrated. Similarly the Vinpok Split did triple monitors with two cables around the same time. This video is a few years late and managed to pick up the knock off Chinese brands rather than two crowd funded solutions that ended up shipping?
Will be better without these brackets. The idea was that they should be adjustable with the laptop screen but they aren't. One or two separate screens with their own stands will be lighter and slimmer.
I think the dual cables is a good solution, better than having to carry laptop charger and plug for the screen. And not having a battery is going to be a lot lighter.
Since you did a review on this product i suggest looking into the mobile pixels brand that does portable attachable monitors for laptops. I was actually looking and doing a bit of research for such a portable screen arround christmas this year. The biggest pros over competition i noticed was first the price, its cheaper. Second its modular so you can buy 1 screen or 2 and combine them together getting the set up you want. Third is that laptop form factor does not matter 13 or 14 or even 17 inch does not matter, but that comes with the first con. You have to attach included magnets to the back of your laptop screen as that is how it is held in place. The second con would be the monitor response time, you can feel the delay. Overall great product if you need a relativelly cheap portable display that is mostly used as a refference or youtube screen. Not suitable for long term use as a main monitor or for applications where input delay impacts you a lot like gaming.
The other guy confidently telling Linus it doesn't need a driver and the driver doesn't do anything. I could see he had no idea what he was talking about from a mile away.
I don’t like how they mention in the email to not mention Ofiyaa. I get the feeling companies set up two names like this so if people get upset about one they go to the other not knowing it is still the same owner. I have had so many customers over the years that complain about the company I work for and say they will shop at another store. Only that store has the same mega corp owner and I actually do customer support for them too and they use the same warehouse and delivery people so they will literally get the same products and customer support just pay more.
Two Lenovo M14 or any other USB C portable monitors will do a much better job and be smaller to pack up as well. I travel with an M14, MX Keys Mini and Pebble mouse in my backpack and have a dual screen desktop setup anywhere I want.
This is definitely not the first company to make these. Mobile Pixels have one called the Trio. Though from my usage, they're not very good either. Main issues being panel quality and the wobbling. EDIT: This video makes me wanna try plugging in the second cable
