At the age of 7, my biological father left my mom and I. This had a huge impact on my life as it made me feel a sense of rejection at a very young age. It forced me to grow up a lot quicker than a normal kid would’ve had to. However, I look back and realize it was a blessing in disguise. It made me the man I am today. It taught me that sometimes people will leave you or let you down... and it’s not your fault. It taught me to value every moment you spend with your family. I know that one day when I am a father, I will be the father I had always wished for as a kid. ‘Please Die Slow’ is about this story.

As a girl who grew up with very little contact with her father, this song really speaks to me. My dad was barely there, and when he was- it felt wrong and it made me extremely uncomfortable because of what I found out he did to my mom. I was always afraid of him even without knowing him and I couldn't really tell anyone why, because I didn't have a explanation other then my gut telling me things my mind couldn't process. Thank you Dylan, for releasing this. I adore it. Sending love to you and your lovely mother.

My biggest fear is the day I get the call that my dad is gone. Even though he’s never been apart of my life and I have no relationship with him...I still dread that day. I’m afraid of how I’ll feel when it happens and if I’ll regret not trying to seek out a relationship with him. The idea of reconnecting with my father seems 10x more painful than living my life without him, but part of me wonders if life without him will be more painful once he’s actually gone. I never comment on videos, and this is the first time I’ve seen a video of yours and I am in awe at the quality you put into the production of this song. If you keep making music like this I will be the first person buying a ticket to your first show. You just gained a new fan here.

Very powerful. I met my husband at 19, and when I met my mother-in-law I was like, "where's the father?" And he quickly brushed it off like it was nothing. Years later has a breakdown in my arms about his father rejecting him and leaving him. Almost a decade later, hes working thru the pain and coming to terms with forgiveness. I'm so proud of him. Time doesn't make it "go away" or "work itself out". I can attest to that. I know one day you'll reach this particular point as well. Congrats on the single!
