One of my biggest fears is dying suddenly, away from my Louie. From any of my animals, actually, but he's the one I'm closest to; I've been his mom since he was around five weeks old (having compared pics once I knew his breed, that's my best estimate. He does look a lot like other breeds that are slightly older in his baby pictures,) and he's very in tune with me, and we have this energy between us that's entirely unique to the energy between me and my other animals, and I would hate to have him always wonder and wait for me while being sad. I did have a special cat die while I was in the hospital after a car accident and I still wish I had been able to give Maxx that last cuddle I'd promised him when I had to get up for work the morning of my accident and he protested it (I'm pretty sure he had FIP, looking back at the signs and symptoms that my mom mentioned he developed, as that one can suddenly display symptoms out of SEEMINGLY nowhere). If there was EVER a time I couldn't give one of my animals the forever that I initially promised them, then I would find them a home that would love and cherish them, or, at the very last resort, an animal rescue. I feel horrible for people in places that don't have these resources and are essentially forced into those sorts of choices (I know some countries do not have shelters or much in the way of animal protection services), but I just can't fathom people who abandon their animals while they have resources to help them find a new home available.
