In today's video the wet weather finally breaks which means we can go back to ploughing and getting ready to sow winter crops. The MF 3690 is back on the wagon plough that we used on our vintage day and with a Father Phil quick fix we managed to get the ploughing finished this time without her boiling. Uncle Ian is ploughing with the 4-furrow and we get the field finished together.

There is a lot of ploughing here in the USA . Like you say it is all in what kind of soil your on ! And what is planted the big farmers use drills no ploughing ! Every place is different . I just enjoy watching your videos and seeing how you do things. SLAN GO FOILL.

5 big enough the big ploughs are great in big fields I use one myself but we leave the headlands for the 4 sod as big plough to clumsy in the corners

Push pull, 4 on the back 2 on the front, then when the going gets tough just leave the front 2 in the air or 6 furrows down hill and 4 up hill.

Yeah I’d agree gives you options and weight on the front that is doing something also I have 5 and 3 works fine does take a bit off getting used too but not the cheapest to buy Luckily I got a good deal on mine ( could be selling it as cut back on a lot of other work so no hurry to plough now)😉

If you lift the plough with the toggle switch on the box instead of the buttons it will knock the diff off automatically and put it back on again when you lower. Save a bit of hassle for ya

Great video; pulling 6 is really turning the soil over. I got a 1990 Massey Ferguson 3070 92hp pulls a 4.16's bottom plow. Growing up we had. Massey Ferguson 285 81hp and it pulled a 4.16's bottom plow we also so had a 275, 265 , 255, 175, 165 Massey Ferguson all pulled 3.16's bottom plow. The 285 had a much smoother ride then the smaller frame tractors. My 3070 is still in great shape. It is quite and also has a good smooth ride while working it compared to the smaller frame tractors. The only larger tractors I have driven is the John Deere 6120 and 6400

Go and buy a 5 furrow kevernaland Phil and you will be only down one furrow but go much faster. Tidier job and easier on your tractor

A 6 and a 4 gives you good output and also gives you the versatility for smaller or hillier areas as well as wide open flat spaces. Farming these days is all about maximising output and saving time, maybe even be able to create that pallet of time for father Phil!

Great video, we used to use a 3125 on a 5 furrow semi-mounted overum, have you tried to set the wheelslip to work with the draft control? You have to be moving to set the wheelslip

A tip with that plough or any plough go as far as tramlines and and turn round you will have a big headland to turn it will make it easier instead of driving to the ditch and reversing back good vid tho the big girl could feel it

Don’t mean to be smart Phil but you’ll get it a lot easier to pull the plough, and do better work, if you start with clean boards! Whoever parked up that plough with clay stuck to the boards should be ashamed of themselves!

hi phil why are you not useing the bosh eletric hydrulics draft wont work when useing the button near the rear window you should have your depth set on big dail and use the toggel switch fwd and diff will come out on headland without having to do manualy lower link sencing would be working aswell to help you along

Your Tyres have too much pressure in them for a trailer plough as the tractor is only carrying its own weight .Less than 15PSI and have three cleats on the ground with no muck sticking between the cleats . No harm to put a few weights on the front . You can drive on the ploughing when going into corners when ploughing headlands and back into the corners to plough them first . We used run two 6 furrow trailer ploughs turning in a 17 meter headland without stopping .

I don't know why you worried about your uncle hitting you he's plowed more ground than you can imagine 🤣you will have a lot better go if you get your tractor set back right you Hitting the buttons you have to fight the plow each round instead of setting it and only bumping it up just a bit when you get a lot of slip. Great video phil 👍 but I have learned to watch for other people that get tunnel vision and don't quite watch where they are going 😀

Fit it on front of radiator and reverse polarity to blow air through, then you can leave original fan on

You and your uncle is quite the pair in plowing, very nice to see :) I think the 6 furrow would fit well in pair with a 4 furrow. Or as suggested, getting a push pull plough, but then the 3690 is out of it i guess. Keep on going and hope the weather holds :)

The plough not set properly, clay sticking to front board, sure sign of inproper set plough, also plough too big for tractor, too much wheel slip when ploughing, five furrow be max with that tractor

Phil don’t buy an overum plough we bought one new in 1998 kept it ten years could never get it to stop sticking clay to the boards even had team from overum out they couldn’t get it to stop bought a Kverneland instead never looked back you have been warned
