Im an artist and all so im in these type of services all the time...my question is how many of them really felt anything??...another question is how many of them left with something and left changed? smh church church church sad.
Ahaha! This sooo brings me back to my childhood. No negativity here, but I am glad to have experienced Jesus in other ways then shouting, hoopin' and hollerin'. That way, we can know that He is real! And , we don't have to fake it until we THINK we have it.

The thing w ppl is we adapt 2 or habit very quickly if u c sum1 dance and shout all the time its natural that u r taught 2 do the same or u follow suit. All those commenting, have you ever seen him in person, or have you ever been around a prophet. Do this man of God tell the truth when he prophesy. Let God judge him, and let God separate the wheat from the tare. You just eat the whole roll, cause every WORD of God is true. @lucy9359 Very good that u brought this up. I'm African American, and I must say alot of what happens in our churches isn't necessarily the Holy Ghost but us acting emotionally. There are people in other cultures who have the Holy Ghost, operate in the gifts of the spirit, but you'll never see them dancing and shouting. We have to accredit spiritual things to the spirit and fleshy things to the flesh.
i find this is true even though im into the charisma i find that the tongues this preacher speaks in i dont know what they are all i do is pray that it can be interpreted into something good that is of God
TheMarkell, I totally feel you. There's the same, tired cliches, the same behavior, even the same tone of voice used...I've seen it since I was a child. I, too, was raised in the C.O.G.I.C. and nothing has changed except the bodies speaking the same things in the same manner in the same type of pulpit. I'm all for God operating how He sees fit, but too many times people are caught up in the culture of the pentecostal environment, and not so much in the Spirit of God. And that's real talk.
there is a gift of interpretation its important so that order can be established in our churches 1corinthians14;26-40- let all things be done decently and in order carn could be interprting his tongue as well, brethren be careful

I wish more truly knew the warfarring realm of the Holy Ghost to know that there are types of tongues that are just not understable least one has the true anointing of God, and what i mean by understable is "grasping thier purpose"...there are indeed battle tongues, as a chief intercessor, i know, they even come out different.

Voice understood, in their own language..so the point is, that when Pastors say they are speaking in Tongue..Everyone is supposed to understand what is being sad, from GOD..I truly believe that most people dont have a clue what is being said..that' s all.....

too many hearts have become religious in churches- therefore we see religious dances religious dress codes religious styles and tones of preaching-it's like watching religious robots all over the church
well of course a lot of stuff is due to emotionalism and a lot of it is learned behavior (particularly in the black church). Black people are a historically musical and creative people so a lot of stuff we do is bloated with vestiges of our natural and inherent creativity. Now it's possible to preach without hooping of course, but the hoop adds an effect. Basically, the louder the hoop and the deeper the bass the more we think some1 is anointed! hope i could help.
