9:01 We don’t have any Moas today, I think you mean Ratites which is birds like Ostriches and Emus. The last Moa, one of the smaller species, went extinct before Captain Cook ever landed on New Zealand. All the other Moa species were also hunted into extinction.
@@lorencalfe6446 kiwis are more related to Elephant Birds according to a study published in 2014. Kiwis also are ratites. Plus they are in the order Apterygiformes while Moas are in the order Dinornithiformes.
@@OurzSauveli Well it turns out ur right, the new discoveries have rewritten kiwi/ emu phylogeny. Intuitively you would expect the oceania ratites to be related and that was the scientific position for a time, but new evidence says otherwise.
If anyone is wondering the varanus genus is still around today with 28 extant species. All monitor lizards including the komodo dragon are in this genus
19:40 "Playskool Definitely Dinosaurs"? Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long, long time... In short, they're a series of hefty dinosaur toys released in the late 1980s with a semi-cartoonish look that have a very special place in my heart. They came with anachronistic cavemen action figures, which had silly modern motifs like afros and moustaches. I had the Ankylosaurus and the Protoceratops, both of which were simultaneously creepy & adorable.
@@mitchtange8029with the same Size😂 The Guests be like: ,,You didn't do that. No. This must be a Dream" while looking at a Enclosure with a incredibly tall Man😂
Something else that makes study of Dakotaraptor utterly hellish is that the holotype specimen is in the possession of a private collector who only allows one, specific paleontologist in to study it... Yeah, not great...
@NateL1992 there's a wooly mammoth mod in planet zoo that is fantastic. Honestly Cenozoic Animals are the only extinct I've ever wanted in planet zoo of course because of extant analogous to have them with. Whether it be through mods or official.
Beatuiful start to the video! I too, feel the need to walk outside and scream at the sky sometimes. 15:39 I remember that game! Nostalgia~ All of these are very cool and very fun options, I love them. Thank you, mod makers!
That’s not a moa, looks more like an elephant bird. Giant moa had downcurved beaks with unusually wide and flat heads (somewhat like the head of a praying mantis in general shape).
12:10 mekosuchus went extinct 3000-4000 years ago on new Caledonia because of the arrival of human which wiped out their prey and likely hunted them as they were only around the size of a small dog and they had no defenses against mammals as new Caledonia had species that were from Gondwana that evolved isolated from the rest of the world and had only 1 species of mammal which is the flying fox bat
5:52 Varanus is also the genus that the Komodo dragon belongs to, it being Varanus komodoensis. EDIT: 16:17 If Australopithecus and Homo turned out to be the same genus, Homo would take priority over Australopithecus as it was the name that was published first (way back in 1758). So we'd get 11 new species of Homo.
2 things, a Jurassic World Evolution game with only Cenozoic animals has always been a dream of mine… second thing is the fact that protoceratops hasn’t been added to the game in general is a crime
Definitely Dinosaurs were a line of kid's toys from the mid-late 80s or so, I had a ton of them as a child. That Protoceratops has the same color scheme as the one from that line.
from the first custom model dinosaur to the current day, i honestly thought the old dinosaur rig method would be the only way to create new species, but i'm surprised how far the modding community has gotten
Completely unrelated but can anyone help me understand how to add the ford explorer mod to my park? I’m new to modding lol. Its says to add it to the vehicles files and override all but what does the last part mean? To delete all the files in that folder and just leave the mod?
Dakotaraptor does have moderately good fossil evidence for existing, although it's complicated. The holotype - the set of bones that were first described and are supposed to have the details defining what the animal is osteologically - is chimaeric in nature, as it was found right inside a bunch of turtle bones and bird bones jumbled together at some river deposit in Hell Creek. However, apparently there is a paleontologist who worked with the Saurian devs way back when that was being developed who had found more material and was in the process of describing it before the devs released the game's trailer which included the animal. The details on that part of the story are fuzzy, but what is known for certain is that the paleontologist got so infuriated that his counsel was used in the game's creation before his pet project paper was released that he trashed the paper and now the good material is sitting around in his private property where nobody can study it and, until he allows it or dies and his next of kin gets it and allows it, will never be studied or described. How long will he hold the grudge? Nobody knows... Also there's really big dromaeosaur footprints found in Hell Creek, which are bigger than the size estimates for Acheroraptor - the other Hell Creek dromaeosaur. Those are described, but whether they belong to Dakotaraptor or Acheroraptor (if the estimates are wrong) is unknown and up for debate. Debate will not get far though without more and better fossil material.
