Literally just found this band this week! I love that this video was shot at Summer Sonic. 😊 Love that the vocalist is also a super accomplished painter.
it has been indeed quite a good genre in the mindle of the 90s to the late 90sec and the start of 2000, there were groupments of bands, a lot of nu metal groups, but then it sank hard ^^, still it was à good period :D
I think it’s literally impossible to be any more Nu-Metal than Pleymo, and I love it. You want Rapping, check. You want turntable scratches, check. You want jumpsuits, check. You want baggy sports clothing, check. You want downtuned bounce riffing, check. Imo this is what Slipknot should’ve sounded like, and imo Pleymo did it better. Though I wouldn’t really call Slipknot Nu-Metal, Slipknot did have some Nu-Metal elements on their first 2 albums but they also have Thrash and Death Metal elements that imo doesn’t make Slipknot Nu-Metal but something else.
@@galvinchristianrai8449 There is nothing “pure Nu Metal” about Slipknot. Slipknot have always had Thrash and Death Metal elements to their sound. Pure Nu-Metal is Pleymo, you can’t get anymore Nu Metal than Pleymo. I also wouldn’t call Slipknot Groove Metal either, though they do have Groove Metal elements. Slipknot are a hybrid style of Groove Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal (on early albums), and Nu Metal.
They kinda lack clean melodic vocals and this is why tracks like "Dry Kill Logic - Paper Tiger" or Element 8 - noise or LP's points of authority" seem more eligible to me to be seen as definition of nu metal than pleymo's track althogh this is pretty much as pure numetal as you can get too
French Limp Bizkit, a least for the two first albums, the first one "Keçkispasse ?" was out in 98, just one year after Limp Bizkit's first record "Three Dollar Bill Y'all$", and it's exactly the same vibe, same style in guitar parts and DJ parts, same sorts of subjects in the lyrics and the flow and screamings are close to old Fred Durst style with a more high-pitched voice, the evolution for their second album "Episode 2: Medecine Cake" is also almost the same that LB for "Significant Other",
@NewYardbird Well there's not so many Nu-Metal/Rapcore bands in France anymore. The few DJs that I have in mind are: -Kefran (Pleymo) -EDA (Enhancer) -DJ Toon (Smash Hit Combo)
in these days i was 6 years old so i don´t know wtf is nu metal.. but i remember limp bizkit, linkin park, korn, deftones... sometimes on MTV.. nu metal or alt rock or rapcore is da best music genre ever ! forever !
Yeah, during a concert in 2007, Mark said that everyone in the band was going to do a side project until further notice. He hasn't said anything about a reunion or breaking up since that day though, so they are still technically on hiatus.
I also think they're a mix between rapcore and nu-metal. there are elements of both genres in the music. both genres influence themselves, so I couldn't say what it is exactly. sorry for my english ;)
I remember Nu Metal in the 90s, I thought nobody played that style anymore. In America it was the mainstream alternative, for those teens who could not make it in a Hardcore club. By the mid 90s if you listened to Korn (who wants to listen to a whole album about "my daddy hurt me") or Limp Bizket you were either a 15 year old girl or you were treated like one. Not a genre remembered with fondness, but maybe France was/is different?
