After finding a concept, a world and a character, I'm approaching my story by first finding the character arcs for every character in my story.

A great day for Murphy, nothing good happened, but nothing bad happened either, yay! Way to go Murph! This is Fun.

I love that this isn't a silent video of you just writing or a montage. Those kind of videos always make writing seem fun and quick, but writing is hard and it takes time, it's still fun thought, for the most part. I'm glad you didn't cut stuff out of the video and included procrastination and tangents, it makes the video so much better.

I'm grateful that you've done this without the polish. Every time I get through a writer's video about writing or the "write with me" I always compare and by the end I feel "well this must be rubbish" and all my struggles go down the drain or go back in the file to be forgotten. Thank you.

Goodness even I wrote a similiar line like that in the introduction of my Novel. Probably it was, anything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Let's go ahead

This is fun to see. I have no doubts this going to help out lots of writers, specially the beginners. I never tried writing a funny story. Joe, you are productive than me, so don't worry. I like the hopeful ending. A story is a collection of stories, 100% true. Every character has a one and that's what they made of. I am going to stop commenting and going to take notes. Good luck! (Thank goodness, our world have the concept of good luck)

Character tends to be my biggest issue. Short stories I can fake, but it really tends to show in any novels I try to write. I'm a sprint-writer. I'll pants a short story no problem and finish it in a few hours. But because a novel takes time, I lose the momentum, and then have to rely on planning to carry me farther. I've been watching a lot of character-based lessons on RU-vid. I like that this video has the same kind of puzzle-solving element my brain defaults to. Helps me tie some of those lessons into a practical application. Thank you!

I'm astounded in how many ways Murphy's law can be misspelled and it still makes complete sense pronunciation wise ... Absolutely loved it, I will definitely let this play over and over again while doing my own character arcs/how to show them in the actual plot. :D I'm also really curious about the statement "I've mastered comedy." aaand here's your reminder for doing a survival arc video ;)

Thanks Anna! I'll blame the spelling mistakes on the sticky keyboard, haha XD And thanks for the reminder!

Murphy's Law: If it can go wrong, it will go wrong. (If it can snag on a hook, it will; If you can trip, you will; If there can be a fire, there will be) Sod's Law: When it goes wrong, it goes wrong in the worst possible way. (You car breaks down where the tow truck can't get to; The bread falls with butter side down; When it rains, it pours) ???'s Law: The probability of something going wrong is proportionate to your dependence on it going right. (It will rain on that one day you forget your umbrella; The conductor only checks for train tickets that one time you don't have yours with you; Your first performance review happens on the day you forget to bring your briefcase)

I just realised I hadn’t watched this video before now! It was really cool to see how your thought process works while writing, I totally relate to constantly getting distracted or going on tangents 😂 Plus it was very relaxing to watch while having my lunch, hopefully enough to give me motivation to study 😅 P.S. Did you remember to transcribe the parts you didn’t write down/about the survival arc video idea? ☺️
