Hey, fantastic video series. I'm thinking of doing something similar to your 33 day trip with a 31 days in Japan when it all reopens. Thanks it's great to see someone else with a long trip planned and their route across and over Japan. Thank you! BTW, to help with my planning I created a Google Sheet and added in tabs for hub cities with places to visit listed in there, what to do on wet days, day trips from there. Then I have tabs for figuring out spending with it linked to an accommodation tab and flights tab both linked to the pricing index so they update whenever I open the sheet. There is also a calendar tab where I have October & November in there with the planned days of arrival, day travelling along with estimated time I'd be travelling to plan out days or evenings what to do when I arrive somewhere. Then to top it off I've a custom Google Map with areas marked and a sample route plotted in to see what it all looks like. Hope this helps someone else! P.S It's taken me about 2 months and it's still growing anytime I see a place to visit such as the Maglev museum. Thanks Natasha.
This is sooo helpful! Ive used my maps before but not for mapping trips. Your video on Kiso Valley was also super informative. Im visiting in mid april for 2 weeks and im still planning a lot of it right now!
Thank you so much!!! Learning so much from you! Never knew Google MyMaps was a thing! I hope you don't mind me using your map as a base map for my own travels!
Thank you for such valuable information. I'm not anywhere near of planning a trip to Japan, but I'm loving this series. It sure got me excited to go visit Japan.
Just so you know, I’m saving your planning videos to my ‘Travel’ playlist for reference and viewing when needed later in preparation for our Japan trip. They are chock full of good information. Arigato Gozaimasu Natasha. ...practicing my basic Japanese. Cheers. 🥂
this video and the map you created are awesome!!! you gave me a great idea and I started creating my map with places I would like to go ♥ thank you Natasha :D
AMAZING!!! Yeah all the places I want to go are always so jumbled up in my head until I add them to a map. I'm so glad this was helpful and you've started making a map! I hope it's going well!
I pretty much do the same when I plan my trips in Japan. Focus on a region and check on Japan Guide the best places to visit; find on google maps how to get there, either by train (option number one of course), bus or car; check on Hyperdia the train schedule and plan accordingly. Next year I'll be going to Tohoku and go crazy on all those Shinkansen's. Since you love trains, see if you can get on some of the so called 'Joyful trains', if you haven't tried them yet. There are a quite a few from JR East, JR West and JR Kyushu (I only tried the JR Kyushu ones and I loved them).
@@thisNatasha You're totally right about japanguide, it's an amazing site and they're always updating it! I used that and a website called 'GaijinPot' which was also invaluable! All I got to do now is save save save. I'm really looking forward to your upcoming Japan vlogs because my trip will roughly be a month as well (it's rare to see good quality Japan vlogs on RU-vid with visits longer than 2 weeks so I'm super excited!) :)
Good luck with the Shirakawa Go light up. I tried to book a ryokan there back in July so I can see it for January 2020 and they are all fully booked. :(
I'm just useing the metro ticket, the hardest one will be to puroland but I think I have it. 🤗😍💖🎀🎄📸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I am so incredibly excited to see this series. I am headed to Tokyo in a little less than 4 weeks. This is my first time there and I need all of the help I can get! :) Do you have a recommendation on how much cash we should bring (per day). We are staying for 8 days. Thanks again for doing these videos!!!
Thanks so much Michelle! Oh we might be there the same time! For 8 days I would take at least 800 GBP / 1000 USD. Visa and Mastercard are well accepted in Japan and you can take money out at the Post Office or 7 Eleven stores, so it's usually not a problem. You'll mostly need money for food and adding money to your commuter card! I hope that helps! And thanks so much again!!!
How do you go handle motion sickness on the bullet trains? My 7 year old son gets slight motion sickness on planes. So we’ve been scared to do the bullet train
Ah I hear ya, I get the motion sickness too and my bro suffered bad when he was a kid (around 7 also). I find the bullet train routes are incredibly straight, they have to be to be at that speed, so actually it's not too bad for me as much as trains in the UK (UK trains are awful because of their older winding tracks). I often take some motion sickness pills to be safe (these might not be ok for your 7 year old to take though). Other than that I have a list of things I do to stop motion sickness including: make sure I've slept enough, make sure I've eaten, make sure I've drunk enough water, make sure I'm not too hot and make sure I've not drunk any coffee. If I've done those I am usually ok. I hope that helps! Sorry the advice is a little more tailored to adults, but the eating, sleep, water and temperature tips can apply to kids too! :D
Do you feel as a first time going for a week and spending two of those days 1 day being tokyo disney and another being sea is rushing it a bit? or do you think it could be done?
It definitely can be done! You need some more time if you're going to do lots of dining reservations or visits to the hotels but one day in each park is plenty if you're spending all day there!!! :D
Haneda is closer but the transport options from Narita are excellent, so usually I'll just fly to the one which is cheaper to get to! Haneda would be my choice if flights costs the same for both!
