Why is such a logical and simplified method of attaching your rear pull-out to the ridge line with a prussik but I'd never think of doing that in two life-times? Great idea. Nice emergency shelter, looks totally functional.
I just made a plow point tarp shelter using the traditional front pole. This might actually be easier to set up. I need to try this one.I like that there is nothing in the front of the shelter to get in the way.
Thought it was a Chaplin silent film at first lol. I've never seen this setup before. It looks like it can be very versatile. Will be practicing this one.
A long time ago, some guy taught me to hold the stake in my hand with my hand "palm up" when hammering in stakes...Wait, that was you! Saved me a few knuckle hits over the years.
Hackberry Tree, Technora Ridge, Prussic, Vargo stakes, Poncho hood tie off, and pops right out of the G-2 Roll. Very cool! I have water pure kit in my Mother, and have been thinking about Fire, Shelter, and Navigation for the G-2 Roll. Could you S-roll the Enhanced MEST and just do a pull out deployment? Good video, no blab, just do, explain and bail!
It's been a while, do you still use this tarp setup? It was the way I intuitively set up my tarp before I got into bushcraft. It provides good coverage while making the most of your tarp's diagonal.
Excellent set up Terry. Thanks for posting. Any idea if that G2 Gear Roll will be available again? Looks pretty handy and a great way to organize. Nate
Nice setup! I have a question, the first knot on your ridgeline and the 'rings' that you use for the prussik knot have a black band, is that tape to hold your knots ? Thank you ! Love your tutorials
Im having a hard time deciding on the enhanced mest tarp or the enhanced mest poncho. Pretty new to getting out to the outdoors, i think the most use will come in a tarp use and not a poncho, but i like that i can use it as a poncho if need be. How much smaller does the tarp pack down than the poncho?
Hey Terry, if you send me one of those ponchos I'd gladly review it for ya ;). Just kidding I think I'll be gettin me one of those here before to long. I've been eyein 'em up in the store.
Do yourself a favour and get one of the sea to summit ones instead. The regular one is half the price and is the same as this one and the ultra light one is $10 less and it weighs half as much. Sea to summit ones have a better hood as well. I have one and it's great.
