Joe... a couple of plowing tips for you. Firstly, back your Polaris into the garage so your first plowing is right out of the garage. Secondly, angle your plow (right or left) sharply, and make your first run down the middle of the driveway. Turn around at the street or house and make consecutive runs pushing the snow further out from that center pass.
@swully-ol4lx
@swully-ol4lx Год назад
Hey Allen after you angle your blade and run down the middle of the driveway and you turn around at the street do you still have your plow angled when you go back down the middle or do you keep it straight? I'm about to start plowing for this older gent and was wanting some advice please.
@allenj5865
@allenj5865 Год назад
@@swully-ol4lx so long as you are pushing the snow outwards, keep it angled to push the snow to the outer edges. A straight blade is inefficient except in small areas.
@allenj5865
@allenj5865 Год назад
@@swully-ol4lx By making these ever increasing circles you shouldn't have to stop to change the blade angle. If plowing on a gravel driveway, your blade should be equipped with adjustable sliders that allow your blade to ride just above the gravel. Otherwise, you'll be plowing up your driveway gravel and moving it with the snow off the driveway.
@benscoles5085
@benscoles5085 Год назад
a couple hundred pounds of weight in the back will help too, not over loaded but some added weight, also do not put the blade all the way to the pavemet, that way there is the weight transfer of the blade on the front wheels for added traction and steering

I hope that one treats you well. these things get more use, utility wise, than anything else when you have a big chunk of land, or farm. Aside from the tractor, the side by side gets used every single day on the farm. So in the long run I think you’ll be happy you got it. You might even end up upgrading. Side by sides are just so damn useful.

Take the center plate off the inside center of the tailgate. I did that and unscrew and take out the latches on each side. I can't remember if there was an adjustment on each rod or I gave each rod a little tweak that would actually shorten them and that will get the latches to move enough to easily open the tailgate.

Those little 500 are inherently noisy. But are tough as nails. I have the 900 XP HO ranger. I’ve hauled dirt pulled logs and everything else. Has 5000 miles on it and will run 65 mph. We had one of those machine on the job,had alot of fun and work with it,and yes overall doing the maintenance and adjustments on it was relatively easy,but if you are to do snow with it,you definitively have to put weigh in your box,and also ,I've noticed that the wet snow was packing on your blade,you can always spray it with some silicon lubricant. Weight in the rear is a must and you should be plowing in low range. Also, backing it inside is more efficient so you can just drop the blade once it’s outside the door and not drive over snow THEN try to plow it.

Sweet deal (in today's money). I am plowing with a 2022 Polaris 570 with a 72" plow. Been lovng it as I have 200 feet of driveway. I will say that the 2022 is much better balanced with the engine and trans under the box instead of under the seat. When plow is on it balances very well. Still snowing and blowing here in the north so waiting it out and then let the fun begin. LOL Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I like my 2016 570 Ranger and even my old 2002 Ranger did better with rear snow chains, they make a big difference when backing up and helped when pushing snow into the pile. I liked my 02 a bit better when towing due to having the tongue weight on the straight axle, the newer ones with rear independent suspension seem to squat a bit more with a trailer hooked up. Have fun and look into rear chains you won't regret it.

Actually it's only 1 wheel drive. With only 1 CV axle on the front, the power is being sent to the side with no axle because it has the least resistance. And with no diff lock in the rear it's just 1 wheel drive.

And for your tailgate release there's probably some sort of bent linkage that is not allowing it to pull on the rods going out to the left and right catch. Probably from somebody pulling on the handle in the middle of the tailgate as hard as they could trying to get it to release when it was all gummed up.

If you remove the rear center gate latch you may see it is connected by cable to the outsides. May just need to shorten the cables at the latch 1/2 inch so the dump bed would work. Just a thought.

I'm thinking that if you remove inside cover on the tail gate you can adjust the latches, also start in the center of the driveway and turn around at the end and push the snow that way you don't need to reverse all the back
@AmosBHaven
@AmosBHaven Год назад
If that tailgate handle is anything like Chevy p/u's? Inside that center latch are metal rods that extend out to the latches on either side, so that when ya pull up on the handle it pulls those latches in. those metal rods are connected to the pull handle through plastic bushings. Chances are those bushings are worn so that when pulling the handle it doesn't pull those rods in far enough to unlatch...OR? It could be an easier "fix" if the pivoting mechanism on the handle itself is corroded where its range of motion (so to speak) is not pulling those rods in far enough. But? until then? jez leave the tailgate down. 😉

The diff lock might be an electric solenoid type. Or a pin with a lever that the cable connects to. The hitch bar seized inside and they torched it out. To check for a parasitic draw put a dc amprobe on positive cable and remove fuses on at a time to identify circuit that could have a short to ground like rear light. Have an oil pan under cv shaft where it goes into the diff before removing broken shaft.

One thing that really improves your clean pavement is to replace your scid bar with a 1 x8 solid steel from like a actual county plow. I had one welded to the bottom of my plow. One thing I liked was it added weight so it cleaned the pavement better. I owned a funeral home so my parking lot that was actually 200 square feet short of an acre of blacktop. I plowed the parking lot for 7 years with a Kawasaki Prairie 300 4x4 . I live in Wisconsin so we receive enough snow. One of those years we received 108 inches. I never had one problem with the machine. I will be buying another Kawasaki, that’s for sure.

@2vintage My guess on issues: Tailgate - I think the rods from the handle out to the latches are bent slightly.? Front CV axel - was cut out because it probably blown out of the back of the wheel.? Diff Lock - I'm guessing that broke or has missing pieces.? Or the replaced the rear axel with one that doesn't have a diff lock. She's definitely had a hard life of abuse and no maintenance. Good luck.
