Plutarch's Parallel Lives, along with The Gallic wars, by Julius Caesar, De Rerum Natura, by Lucretius, and Confessions, by St. Augustine are the ancient books that appeal most to me. We have come so far in many ways, but seem to have forgotten much ancient wisdom. Plutarch was a wise and educated Roman citizen of Greek descent who gave us a lesson in human accomplishment and philosophy. He was interested in what makes men great. Virtue was vital to Plutarch. His revealed wisdom applies as much today as it did in his time.
I absolutely love the way you've summarized these lives - SO palatable. Definitely worth a sub! Thank you! I love the lives but I have a hard time digesting the books, I get a bit lost in all the references I don't understand.
Plutarch's lives is interesting and have good lessons to learned to once we've known him thru this content and by the books. He spread the Gospel of John in all the nations we went to.
