If you look at Direct connection, they have a procedure to install a 2 barrel adapter plate to a single barrel intake manifold by brazing it to the existing manifold. If you install the carburetor adapter plate directly brazed to the manifold, you can eliminate the restriction and the trubulence induced and improve the overall performance. At the end of the fifties, Chrysler produced ,for specific applications, some flathead sixes that were factory equipped with a 2 barrel carburetor. so they saw the benefits of a slightly bigger barburetors on inline sixes..
was a bolt on just like the video. I did need to add a fuel pressure regulator after the fact. Between the pump and the carb. I didn't plan for it, but my stock pump was putting out about 6lbs and that was more than the Weber could handle. Blew the accelerator pump gasket. Regulator brought it down to about 4.5 and it's been great.
I ordered this same setup for my 55 Belvedere. I couldn’t tell from the video but are you still running a 6volt setup or did you swap over to a 12? If I swap to 12volt I plan on doing an hei distributor but I’m hoping I don’t have to if that makes sense.
This car is 12v. You don’t need to swap to 12v to install the carburetor, unless you’re installing the one with electric choke. Then You might want to check with Langdon.
Thanks for the response. I know I don’t need to switch over to 12v for the carb (I have a manual choke). I’m just hoping I get good results with the carb swap because I have too many projects already 😆 . I’ll probably switch over down the road but I’ve got my fingers crossed that this saves me From having to pop it in neutral every time I put the brakes on while driving
The carburetor can be purchased through Langdon’s Stovebolt. They also have the adapter and air cleaners for it. I chose to use an adapter and air cleaner I already had, but had to get the air cleaner base that fits the carb. www.langdonsstovebolt.com/store/#!/Fuel-Related/c/18665965
@@plymouthownersclubsocal744 you can remove the carb studs from the intake. BTW watched the whole video sounds like a vacuum leak. Did you connect the vacuum advance? Or block off on carb. I have a 49 coronet I will be doing this swap. How's it drive, why so much exhaust noises?
@@danesderelicts I know I can remove the studs, but why? I don’t imagine they’re easily put back back in once attached to the adapter. This was the easiest method I could come up with. I did not have the vacuum advance hooked up because mine wasn’t working. I hadn’t yet plugged the vacuum port on the carb either. Exhaust noise?
@@plymouthownersclubsocal744 ya my car is almost silent when running. These engines were very smooth and quiet. Yours sounds like a top fuel dragster. Dual exhaust??
