This video is an overview of the plywood tool chest project. Part 2 will follow which will cover the timber requirements. If you are a woodworker and want to store your handtools this tool chest is ideal but it can also be adapted for crafting, toy box (with additional safety adaptions) and general storage box.
This is tool chest makes a great way to protect your woodworking hand tools and is designed to be accessible to make, plywood is easy to source and construction methods are simplified over a traditional timber chest.

I love this form of tool chest its so adaptable , I've always fancied building a cabinet to put underneath to raise it up to save my back !

Then perhaps consider a Dutch Chest. Footprint is smaller and it is two-tier.

@@Cravenconservation Good idea, I quite like them, but I've worked out a design I plan to make when I have the opportunity more based on the tool chest, might be a fun project one day

Bill, how many sheets of plywood did you use for this project? This looks like a nice solution to my tools constantly being on my bench!

I covered it in the series, pt 2 from memory. Depends on the size you make the chest and also the size ply sheets you buy. Your cutting pattern and wastage will vary depending on both of these. I buy 6’ x 2’ sheet for convenience. I use 2 1/2 of 12mm and 1 of 18mm. If you watch the videos you will see in more detail.

@@Cravenconservation Sorry, I'm watching sequentially from the beginning, haven't gotten to video 2 yet. Thanks for the response.

@@FallingSunAcres no problem. After you watch it, if it is not clear just message me. Tried to fit as much detail in but tricky with 15 min limit. Cut lots of stuff out I would like to have included and left plenty of bloopers in I did not have time or energy to edit out 🤣
