More people in Singapore are relying on personal mobility aids - also known as PMAs or mobility scooters - though not all users have medical issues. Over six hours, The Straits Times observed the use of PMAs in Yishun.

Please make them registered and prove that they really needs or disabled and issue them with license plate! either wear it or stick on their PMA to show member of public they are indeed needs of PMA use!

Actually, there's no need ban Grab & Foodpanda must plan another way for staff working for them. Maybe pay rental a month $50 using Grab n Food panda ebike with serial plate number or suitable bike for delivery under staff ID number & their plate number in their app who broke the of Singapore Rules will deduct salary. This is my idea 😅

Wow ! If that is the case, although i'm healthy but i'm too lazy to walk and i don't want to take the bus or MRT train with other people crowded inside, so i'm going get myself a PMA and ride around to my destination and even from my home in Yishun to neighboring estate in Ang Mo Kio and i can bring my spouse on the ride too. There are too much loop holes on the use of PMA, and i'm going to take advantage on it. Also, sometime i can even speed down on the pedestrian path if there is nobody walking on the path, Nice !

This is nothing compared to a whole family of 5 from son to father from daughter to mother all sitting in one each driving along Keppel Road. Merdeka funding must be quite generous to help them offset a lot of costs that other Singaporeans are not entitled to?

Don’t need to speed. Their mass multiplied by even a low 8 to 10 kmph has sufficient momentum to fracture bones.

You obviously haven’t seen them speeding. I was overtaken by a PMD while cycling on my MTB on the road at 26km/h. The PMD was on the pavement along Boon Lay Way.

This is PMD, not PMA. PMA is meant for people with physical mobility issue. As sb who work with people using PMAs, this confusion between PMD and PMA is creating a lot headache.

Govt should have more restrictions on PMD only allow for people who have medical conditions people allow to use such as examples handicap or heart condition to used PMD if not there is no control is frustrating to walk on pavements and some they drive very fast.

I can understand why parents use it to send kids to school instead of daily public transport. Its safer and it SAVES A LOT OF MONEY. Like hundreds per month. Thats a big deal for a lot of struggling families. At the same time, there must be strong enforcement to ensure pavements and footpath are kept safe for everybody.

If you can't even take care of yourself, why bring a child into existence and make him/her suffer? Poorly brought up kids can refer to both rich and poor monetarily. Imposed a law that you need official proof of disability to buy PMA, and gov must check every sale record of PMA backed by disability cert and one disabled person can only own one

The speed that they are going may not faze able bodied pedestrians, but the elderly and other disabled pedestrians will not be able to make way for them in time. I had seen elderly fall whilst trying to avoid these PMA menance.

Those riding on footpaths and in front of bus stops are a significant hazard to pedestrians. The majority of users I've observed are clearly not disabled. It seems like a convenient way to circumvent high COE.

Why not have an annual event "PMA-thon' . This is a nationwide nuisance...PMAs should be for those physically challenged elderly and users should be licensed/certified to use one. Many users use it as an alternative to cars/bikes minus tax, parking fee. And there is NO speed limit !!! speeding around like loonies !!! Becoming a public nuisance on footpaths mrts bus stops everywhere!!!
