In 1991, Peter Thomas and Adrian Loader founded The Professional Monitor Company Limited, which is better known as PMC. PMC began solely as a maker of professional studio monitors, but today not only makes speakers for the studio, they also make hi-fi speakers and electronics. In this video, cofounder Thomas discusses the history of PMC and the technological achievements that have brought them to the Fenestria, now their flagship passive loudspeaker design.

clear coat not required on carbon surface but if you you want gloss surface you can also polish the resin of fibresurface, you affect the sound with surface strucute too like with a lot small dome-dents like golfball surface, also circle-quiting side panel design of bosch/simens washmachines for membranes... 😉

This is one of the most beautiful presentations of an audio piece that I have ever seen. That said, as a speaker designer-hobbyist with LEAP and LMS for twenty years, as soon as I looked at the mid-tweet module I knew it was trouble. The top end looks like a mountain range. (Yes I KNOW the sound is the most important thing.) As for the chamber behind the midrange, that has been done for 30 years, and they act as if it was their idea. The efficiency is 82 DB. Think about that one. If you want to rock out with them, one reviewer said you need 400 WPC. Don't get me wrong: I bet they do sound very nice. I honestly thought they would be at least $200K, but they are $65,000 USD. The toughest competition in the world resides in that price range. I sincerely wish the best of luck to this company.

How do these compare to an IB2 / MB2XBD / BB5XBD-A ?

I'll answer this differently. A friend who heard them said, the Fenestria has been designed by someone who comes from a separate discipline of science other than electro acoustics. It sounds like a result of something, a traditional approach to loudspeaker designing or engineering would never manage or aim for. If they ever makes an active version, it will be my final loudspeaker, along with a pair of QB1 Subs.

@@kjaudio1 As someone who also built their first quarter wave enclosure speakers back in 1991, I have to say that I've been disappointed by PMC speakers. I love Peter's theories and approach, but in practice, PMC seriously leave me wanting.

@@utubecomment21 well I have built quarter wave speakers too. But the latest generation of PMC speakers to my ears are magnificent. They are what I would call Accurately Musical.
