I'm thrilled to Install these PMO Induction EFI throttle bodies and standalone ECU on my vintage Porsche 911 hotrod. Modern EFI on a vintage 3.2L will improve performance, appearance, and engine sound. Please stay tuned for my five part series showing all the steps required to setup up this PMO induction EFI system. This will include sensor calibration, first start on Zalex engine test stand, wire harness install into car, and dyno tune.

Man, this is GREAT information! I think a great deal of it will be helpful in my EFI upgrades to the V12. Looking forward to more. This will be a great series and thanks so much for going into great detail. Awesome stuff here.

I really need to consider doing this. I have a twin plug 3.6 with 50mm PMO carbs that makes lots of power but suffers from that 2800-3000 rpm stumble. Maybe in a few years it'll be EFI and never look back. Could sell the carbs to offset some of the cost.

Cool, EFI let's you control air fuel ratio everywhere so stumbles are a thing of the past. I'm going to sell my Motronic EFI to offset a big chunk of the cost too.

YES!!! I like it! The only thing you need now is a Bursch exhaust system. I can't wait to see and hear you crank it the first time....

Woah, full effort EFI conversion here! Having done an EFI conversion myself, I know it's no easy undertaking. Why the choice of Emtron, may I ask? I'm originally from Oz, and they are a new one to me... So many options these days. Will you change the 3.2's rods if you swap the cams?

Please help if you can. I agree this is not easy, but nothing I've done on this car is easy, sheet metal mods, chassis strengthening, trans rebuild, paint, wiring, ha ha. Why are so many standalone ECU companies in Australia? You guys love EFI! Emtron is a more affordable Motec with better support. A few so cal tuners know it well and that is why I chose it. Maxxecu is another street grade ECU that I considered. Yes, I will replace the rods. The question is will I replace the crank and oil pump at the same time?

@@GarageTimeAutoResto I'm not sure how I can help, but feel free to pick my brains. My project is still not even fully complete! (Still waiting on my garage so I can proceed.) BUT, it starts and idles really nicely with a ~14.5 AFR, even in cold weather. OEM like. That took some time, but I learnt a lot in the process, and that was part of my ambition. Emtron sounds great and I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future. If you replace the rods, crank and oil pump then you've just about achieved the holy grail of N/A EFI conversions for this car 🙂

Good upgrade, something to keep in mind. How much extra torque and hp do you expect to get? It would also be nice to know total cost, if possible

I should gain 15 or so horsepower and torque, but will see on the dyno. The big improvement will come after I change the camshafts. The stock bosch AFM (Air Flow Module) can't handle many good camshaft designs, but these PMO EFI throttle bodies can. Hope to be close to 300 HP soon. Question: I have a 1999 996 with a M97 3.8l 2007 model engine running on a 996 ECU. The performance is inadequate on rpm and top speed and I am interested to see if its possible to upgrade the ECU or a standalone computer plus wiring harness as an alternative to replacing the engine to the original M96 engine (I have one on hand). Which is the easier route. Replacing the engine will cost about 10k, but I can sell the M97 engine for about the same price. Do you have any input to the best option?

My guess is the newer engine needs a better tune before it damages itself. A standalone ECU will allow someone to get the maximum performance out of that engine. Do you have to pass emissions test? If so then the original engine might be the only option?

Recent sub here. I have seen or scanned all the videos on Mac 3.2. What a great project. Do you have a video describing your background or how you learned the skills to do the work on this car. Is this really a DIY type of project or are you a Porsche mechanic in sheep's clothing. LOL.

Don't be afraid, it's just a car. This is the best time to start as the information age is in full swing. Read as much as possible on forums, Facebook, RU-vid and then compare with the factory workshop manuals. The manuals are great, but they aren't detailed enough for a beginner, but the information is considered the best. Oh and learn by doing. Reading alone will get you nowhere. Join our Patreon group. We talk about each other's projects every Monday.
