Got the audio book - ART AND FEAR - I listen to it at least once a week while I paint. It's helped me break through a major block and get to my next big Art show in a really swank art gallery - thanks!!!
Thank you so much for doing this video, I definitely want to read the book now. The 50lbs story impacted me the most. It is so true, the people who have constant output & share their journey and achievements and failures will be known for their work eventually.
+BOOKparty! Yes!! That is one of my favorite Ideas ever. I have "50 lbs = A" on the board I use to create micro classes. :) Filming a class on Creativity 101 next week and excited to share soon. A friend of mind gave me your video just a second ago. I was STUCK. THANKYOU. I don't feel I have to be "perfect" I just need to do my best and move on.

Brian, thanks for putting this out. some people are not readers even if they're visual. Reading the book recommended by and artist friend as a way of moving me off the starting point on the path. I was amazed to see that the last comment here was a year ago? Damn that sucks. LOL! Will be sending another person to view this and maybe it will grow. Gonna check out the urls. Thanks!

As always I really enjoy your shares of book reviews! you are such a wonderful inspiration!! Btw, Gustave Flaubert is the originator of "Be boring & orderly in your life so that you may be violent and original in your work"
Honestly you are amazing. I am so thankful I stumbled upon your page. I'm an artist and wanted to read this book but I wanted to get it on audio c(cause its kinda hard to read and paint at the same time) haha and could not find it. So thank yoU!!!
+Makiaveliiste O hehehe. I know!! We're working on a whole new "ad" at the end. Soon! :) Optimize is now free! Sign up/tell your friends! www.optimize.me
I have been struggling immensely with returning to art recently (making the swap from traditional to digital) and over the past few days got so frustrated that I haven't done a single attempted work...I think this just kicked me out of that hole.
I was art blocking. I couldn't draw, and was scared about drawing anything on my sketch book.I didn't know why. but now I do well! time to produce these 50 lbs of art now !

The only problem with grades is I never gave a damn about any of all the ones I made in my life and in fact, I dont think I remember any of em. Also the grade system irritates me still because I always imagined the grades were the actual goals in life because school and almost everybody else treats em that way. Still the ideas here are very sound, you need to work harder than even Michaelangelo(if thats possible) but just because you really, really know and feel you want to do it!
yea but wouldn't it be better if someone focused on both quantity AND quality? That person would most likely beat the group that focused solely on quantity... Kinda stuck in this dilemma
'Be boring in your personal life, so you can be interesting in your creative life.' I don't agree with that! You need to live life in order to be creative and happy. I don't know what you meant but sounds not that good. Like that terrible advice, 'built your life around your family, not family around your life.'
