I wasn't going to watch this one, but for some reason I found myself clicking on it. Number 4 and 5 are philosophies that I have worked on for years. The road is long, haha :D But looking back, the changes I've made through them have been phenomenal and they're still happening! So this was a great reminder of how powerful they are. And I love that word Areté. My new favourite word.
My stumbling block is lack of momentum day-in day-out. Have to create winning daily routines; good sleep, daily exercise with some wise philosopher's notes -> then I shall crush it and win forever! \o/ Love your work Brian. Your stuff gives extra few thousand rpm to my engine when the daily grind tries to lessen my pace. Let's keep it rolling!
The Only Ones. Wow. What an AWESOME idea! That's something that I'll be thinking about for a while. Thanks again! I signed up at your website and watched your introduction. (It's late. Time for some reading then bed!) I'm already extremely impressed with the QUALITY of your work. Keep it up! I'm supporting you man!
Another awesome video! I have written two ideas on my diary: one is developing winning philosophy another is always compete. Keep it up Sir! Thank you.
Love your channel. Thank you for bringing to light all the adversity that Pete Carrol had to overcome to be where he is despite the fact that in my opinion made the worst play call in Super Bowl history that cost his team the game. Afterwards he faced the media and explained his mindset on making that call which I thought was very admirable and i'm sure difficult for him to.
I have been around a lot of professional athletes and elite military personnel. There are athletes who turn pro, then the professional athlete starts to live the 'good life' and lose focus. There are military personnel who become a member of special operation units, then the "operator'' decided he has 'made it' and forced to return to a regular unit. There are pro athletes who become "hall of fame" material and conduct their lives with incredible discipline and resolve. There are special operation personnel who become members of Delta and DEVGRU and conduct their lives with discipline and resolve.. Turning Pro will get you very far. Deciding to become "hall of fame" material really requires making each a masterpiece to the third power. I hope I am expressing myself clearly. "It is best not to drink deeply from the cup full of fame. It can be very intoxicating and intoxicated people often do foolish things. Fame is just something other people perceive you to be. You're no different. You're still you. It's their illusion. Don't make it your illusion." John Wooden With all this being stated, I do not want to minimize or demean the efforts, dedication, and persistence professional athletes and special operation personnel, on a daily basis. Great video! Guru Johnson, you are the man! Alexandria and Emerson have a great husband and father!
Mr. Johnson, I love your channel! Great videos. I would be honored if you would give me some advice. I know what I need to do. I do it for days at a time, even months. I feel great about myself; then, I fall off the wagon. Why can't I stay consistent? So hard to get back in gear. Is there a video or book you could recommend. Thank you.
EW Ross The key: Be consistent! hahaha. Seriously. It's that simple. Just get back up when you fall (we all do so don't beat yourself up!) and then try to make the gap between your fall and your recovery shorter and shorter and then magic happens. :) I'm teaching a class on Habits 101 where we'll cover a lot of this stuff. You might dig it. Part of this: brianjohnson.me/membership/
Had this thought yesterday as well: the #1 tool in my toolbox for creating change/a new habit/consistency/etc: Make a 100% (!!!) commitment to whatever it is you want to dial in. Not 90% or 95% or even 99%. 100%. Period. I did a video on this you might dig: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-007QcKxgMmk.html Hope that helps and let me know if you have more questions. Rock it! Optimize is now free! being the only one hypes makes sense to me. i guess we don't actually want to outrun others but rather be the only one who could run some distance in a certain time.
Astfresser And most importantly, have fun simply trying to be a little better than our old selves--independent of how that may stack up to anyone else!
