Thanks for the video! I really enjoyed watching it and had quite a few good laughs. For a game that's still in development it's really helpful to watch somebody play as opposed to just reading feedback. I noticed a few things in the video I need to fix for the next update so I'll make sure to get those sorted before next week. :)
I've just pushed an update now that fixes the issue you had leaving the shooting range via the menu. Will go through the video again later today and make a full list of other things to fix for the Monday update. Regarding chapter 2, you can finish the game story campaign by following the "?" waypoint when using your radio. I won't say what happens next for fear of spoilers though.
@oboeshoestwos It's a pleasure! I also noticed you mentioned binocular tagging. There is a pair of binoculars in the caravan that can do exactly that! I should probably have made this clearer though. Really appreciate the video! Going to go through it again a bit later and make a list of things to action for the next update on Monday.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. While doing research for the game I found an old Afrikaans saying "Die doodskleed het geen sakke nie"/"A dead man’s suit has no have pockets" but I thought I would embellish it a little. :)
Alright, I did a thorough re-watch of the video today and made some notes on some issues to fix for the next updates: 02:17 Introduction speech audio too soft. 03:11 Subtitles missing from intro. 03:42 Hold “Mouse 1” to view mission notes that should read as “R Mouse/Aim”. 05:50 V-Sync option was available from the “Advanced Graphics Options” button in the menu but was missed, should be clearer/more obvious. 10:46 Binoculars scanning/tagging is available. One first has to grab the binoculars from inside the caravan, I should think of a way to make this more obvious to players. 12:50 Goat running stuck in a loop against a stationary vehicle. 17:09 Tree collider bigger than tree causing bullet to ricochet off nothing. 19:32 Should consider prompting the player to activate lantern/torch etc from inventory when it gets dark. 20:00 Poachers can see you through bushes when you can’t. 20:50 Enemy flanking working well, need more of that! 25:52 Invisible wall by fishing pond plus can’t really see the fish in the dark well. 26:20 Fishing mini-game animations need some work. 26:39 Fishing mini-game crashes to desktop. [High priority issue] 56:42 Health obtained by sleeping did not save when exiting the caravan. 59:10 Was able to fly a drone through the floor. 01:16:35 Hitting a cue ball in the pool table resets its position. 01:21:45 Locational audio for B.I.R.D. scout drones required. 01:39:15 Instructions/Hints to complete the game after finishing enemy wave should be more clear. 01:42:30 Snake venom mechanic too severe, need to be able to sleep it off or keep snakes only the hardest difficulty setting. 01:47:30 AK47 aiming glitch. 01:47:51 Game freezes when leaving the shooting range. [Already fixed & updated] Hopefully I should get these fixed up asap within the next week, and as much as I can before Monday. Thanks again for the video!
Hey! First off, let me tell you what a great job you are doing, I was surprised by the quality of the game given that you are a solo game dev, it’s great to see that you take feedback and improve the game, but you don’t need to do everything in one go, don’t put so much pressure in yourself, there is no need to fix everything in one week! Nobody would mind if you updated it slowly and consistently, great work man!
I bought this game a few weeks ago, also got a copy for my brother it's amazing and a damn steal at the price. Initially bought it because I liked the theme.
Memes aside, the idea of a game where you legit hunt poachers is a stunningly obvious context I'm flabbergasted hasn't been explored before. MORE OF THIS.
Afrikaans words explained for your convenience: -"braai" means barbeque -"bokvleis" means goat meat -"moerkoffie" is a traditional way to make coffee -"bosveld" means savanna
@@EIA-Observer Afrikaans is a language spoken in South Africa. A speaker of Afrikaans can be referred to as Afrikaaner but most will probably prefer South African.
Like, you don't want the game to be too easy to master, or it might get boring for the player, since they aren't challenged or motivated to progress anymore
I will say that it only sounds off because we have an idiom contrary to it. To someone who doesn't speak perfect English this probably sounds like a very well thought out selling point
@@IngoziGames mechanically it's not terrible, but with so many great games coming out I just can't see myself spending time on this one. Saying that it wasn't good was probably too harsh on my part, but it does miss a certain hook that a game needs to have.
Genuinely surprised at how fantastic this game turned out being, despite having some little bits of roughness around the edges, you can tell the dev is passionate about the game, and its subject matter. Major props to the dev, and I genuinely hope to see Oboe play this again some day once it’s been updated more!
I gotta say, I adore the long-form content; I always need somebody talking in the background or else the voices purchase new ground, and I quite like yours anyway.
Let them in SpongeBob me bob...let the voices claim you. Let them break you. Build you up. Then tear you down again. Yeah I'll never understand why big game hunters think it's some kind of legendary achievement. If you wanna go kill a lion or something using a spear or a knife honestly I don't care, go wild, winning would be impressive. But shooting an animal that probably doesn't even know you're there or doesn't register you as a threat because you're far a way isn't badass, it's cowardly especially when it serves no actual purpose "Oh but the villages get money!" they say, I'm pretty sure if these altruistic dentists and shit cared about rando villages in Africa and the like they'd just donate money without the senseless animal slaughter. Imagine donating money to a childrens charity because you "love" children but your condition for the donation is that you get to punch 5 children.
There is nuance animal big game hunts usually it's because it's attacking people or eating them those are very different than the ego ones that's the primary big game hunts. Honestly the crazy bow and arrow or spear only big game hunters make more sense over ego ones as they're more likely to die
I LOVED Far Cry 2 and this game looks amazing for the price so I think I'm gonna have to pick this up. Definitely makes me think you can actually do solo game dev.
I've been waiting forever for an anti-poaching game. Your gameplay was enough for me at the moment, but I just bought it to support the dev. I'll play it in 6 months once more things are ironed out. For 3 bucks why not, when $70 MW3 campaigns are utter garbage.
@@WitchPilled ngl I HATED fc2 when I first played it because the weakest part of the game, driving, is what I was spending 75% of my time doing. I learned to use busses as much as possible after that
Cool that you played this game! It is from the single dev who also made "organosphere" before. It was ripped apart by youtubers years ago, but he changed and improved it a lot and made it free and fun to play. You can tell how much he cares for his games, he sends out fixes as soon as you tell him on discord what's wrong! Poached is also a decent game and I'd rather play it than moat of the current "AAA" lineup
This game looks ( for a cheap game) extremely well put together yeah graphics aren't the best an some things could be better but one guy made it. It has a really good message. Decent game play. An it's cheap. I ve paid for big name game that cost 50+, bucks an they suck I am going to buy this an will more than likely enjoy every moment
Thanks for the feedback! I currently have not implemented the jams, but I have added the FALS as well as R4's. I did some research with a few real rangers and local police reservists who helped me choose more realistic weapons for the game. Then I added a few fantasy-ish ones such as Silenced SMG and the main Carbine weapon for a bit of balance/fun. Glad you like it so far, more to follow. :)
Watch sniffer? I nearly died. I think he's meant to be checking it's working, listening to it. Afrikaans is a wild language. Braai is like a cookout or barbecue. Bokvleis is a tasty treat. Bakkies are a bit like a pickup truck, but with a cover over the bed so it looks like an SU|V. small engines, but still capable. Bosveld is a general term for scrublamd, undergrowth, what-have-you. There are also several different names for it, but relating to specific plants or groups of plants. Braai, mealy meal and tomato and onion sauce are the tastes of SA, and with a beer or two make for the best social gatherings.
The Conduit is a Wii hidden gem. Except not really, it was pretty popular back in the day. I mean there’s not much overlap between Wii owners and FPS fans but still…
Soap: Roach I need you to head over to the water tower full of tepid water and make the local poachers kak themselves. Roach: Approaches poacher *press X to perform a stealth Kak-down*
Omg oboe gotta cook that raw meat to 165 for chicken and 145 for beef thats a nice medium steak or 135 if you like med rare ground hamburger internal temp should be 165 also 160 for a well done steak
I am Afrikaans, it is a language that comes from Dutch. Braai is similar to barbeque but with more alcohol and probably rugby on tv. Moerkoffie is coffee that includes a shot of whiskey or other alcohol. Bokvleis is deer meat or goat meat as bok is a got or deer/antelope Bosveld is literally bush veld so African nature pretty much.
uh no , moerkoffie usually does not include a shot of alcohol. Moerkoffie is simply coffee made in one of those old open fire kettles the way it was made in the ye olden days , the "moer" part does not come from "the coffee moers(hits you hard) you" because of the booze or whatever but instead from an Old Dutch word meaning "sediment" because of the frothy layer of coffee grinds on top
I was once told you throw a hot coal from the braai in your moerkoffie to push all the grounds to the bottom of the pot, but I am yet to test this... Some people swear by it though!
