🤔 The best you're self and Simon bloke in the woods, I really enjoy watching your guy's video's helps with depression and anxiety also mental health. I find them very calming and helpful to the degree of going out doing activities such as building a shed for my mom in the garden I am a big fan of the work y you guys do. Thank you ♥ 😊
I got a grill like that for Christmas last year and I have to say it's a surprisingly nice piece of gear. Weighs a little bit, but doesn't take up much space. Assembled in a couple of minutes and does it's job perfectly well. Add a piece of aluminium foil and it's a perfect companion when you're going fishing.
The vegetable steamer is a pretty good idea I like that I seen the grill a few years back what’s nice about it is it breaks down tonight compact size to fit right in your back pack
Used steamers for this before.. Sometimes they flatten if youre trying to use it more like a bowl. It warms up and pops open. An easy fix is 2-4 pieces of bailing wire. unfold bowl to desired shape, where some holes line up, and drop a u shaped wire through it. One will work but 2-4 makes it tough. It really helps if there is wind.
I have watched and do watch many different camping/bushcraft videos from Haze, Carlisle, Scottish Wanderer and ScrambledO etc and many more yet these vids have a bit of everything. Really happy it appeared in my YT and subscribed asap. Great videos, ty.
I steam broccoli in that particular type of "Fire-bowl" you used here, lol.I never thought to use it for building a safe fire platform. We either can have camp fires or we can't in British Columbia. If there's a lot of wildfires burning [we have always had forest fires] they just put a straight up ban on for any fires, even in your own yard.Sometimes they even barricade entry into areas near fires or potential fires so camping is out.Of course this always happens during late summer and early fall, the best time to be in the bush for fishing and later on for hunting. That grill looked really interesting too.Cheers.
They are nice little grills. I had one of the more expensive ones but it warped under really hi heat. However, this was before I knew to use coals and not a full flame.... fail lol! Nice piece of kit! ATB Patrick
Interesting looking grill Andy - can’t believe the price of the UCO version - I’d definitely go for the copy as you did! I like the UCO candle lanterns though- although they’re bloody expensive too! Cheers mate, Atb, Simon.
Cool little grill, I have yet to find one that's light enough to justify carrying when I'm going backpacking but it looks handy enough for a shorter outing. I have a cheap but decent bow-saw that folds down to a similar sized tube by the way. I wonder how many other tube shaped camping items are out there. Would be kind of funny to just pack a bag of tubes when going out on a trip, lol
Hi, thanks for watching. have you seen the coghlans camp grill? they are pretty light weight, another one is the one that Joe Robinet is selling.. very small but no legs.
Yeah, the Coghlan was the first one I looked in to, but it's between 350 and 400 gram if I remember correctly, & that's just too heavy for what it is (I would rather carry a bigger saw or hatchet instead of the grill if I had that much weight to spare). I like the one Joe uses though, didn't know he sells them too. I'll have to look in to that one, thanks for the tip!
I bought what looks like the same grill from amazon in December (at twice the price of the Aliexpress one !!!!!!!) and haven't got around to using it yet. Looks great though, but wish I had seen your video before purchase to save me some money. Keep up the great work, I am really enjoying your videos especially seeing someone local get out into the woods (I live in Chatham).
Hey, thats a shame.. at least you didn't have to wait a month for postage though I guess haha, I think I got the price a little wrong in the vid as it was more like £10 (unless its changed) Thanks for watching mate!
Another cool video, that little grill is really neat. would store so easily almost anywhere.Surprised you ate the steak with no ketchup. :) i used to make a friend mad as could be when i'd smother a steak with catsup he had grilled lol. he would actually get mad. keep up the videos.
Great items those Andy. I have been thinking of getting one of those grills for use as a fire bowl and base for my various stoves. Thank you for sharing. Paul :)
Kent Survival haha I think dry is an understatement.. we just had the biggest fire in California history! I think it’s still burning I’m not sure lol. But yeah fire dangers and fire bands are always in effect in almost all areas. Of course there’s parks and forest areas where you can start a fire to grill or camp but very selective.
ah yes, I did know that.. I'm being a bit dumb. I guess its better safe than sorry. I wanna visit Cali one day, I've only ever done the Florida thing ( a few times) so many places to get through! ... road Trip I think :)
Thanks for a useful video. I like UCO gear, and already have their firebowl and a couple of candle lanterns (plus accessories), but balked at the price of their grill. So will definitely try out the copy version first, to see how I get on with it. Thanks.
Excellent!.. I love it..compact and a great accessory..to my bike touring kit..for an alternative food evening....thanks Andy...think i missed the link though?
I have wanted one of these for a few years now but i have so many other stoves and cooking systems i have yet to use i might buy it and never use it...
I got one of those steamer's but it's lying about but that a brilliant idea so need to try that as you say it's off the ground the bbq grill good idea too, atb leo
thats it there mate www.tamarackoutdoors.co.uk/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=15968725&AccID=67222&PGFLngID=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAvrfSBRC2ARIsAFumcm_N5EV0yKPd6Q9sMA38EfjrY6CzPivePsyANeu_xPsJvBaCgNC9OgEaAtZ_EALw_wcB
ah yes, thats the one I was thinking of but thought it was by Coleman, clearly I can't read haha. I don't have one myself but know people with them. Ill prob get one at some point and try it out. cheers
Hey Andy... just ordered myself one of these grills off eBay to see what they were like, still awaiting for it to arrive from China though, it looks the same as yours. Keep up the great work with the videos, you helped to inspire me and my 9 year to give bushcraft a go. Still very new to it all but we all start somewhere lol. Oh and Happy New Year to you mate. Chris and Bradley.
Hi Guys :) yeah.. bit of a wait with the China ordering but often very cheap haha. Im happy that you enjoy the vids.. we are all learning.. If you ever think of an idea for a video that you think would be helpful, feel free to leave it in the comments.. Im no expert but always up for a challenge :) ATB - Andy
Nice one mate nearly got one of those till I see the full price definitely get the Chinese one I'm eating a ham sandwich at work much prefer a stake in the woods any day thanks mate have a good year camping atb Jimmy 😎😎
Thanks andy, nice vid again. I must apologise, I thought it was nick, from the name on the parcel you had in another vid. Anyway, appreciate the upload. My wife bought me on those about 3 years ago, but ive never used it because it weighs a lot.
haha, thats ok, I did say I was nick frost in a video as people keep pointing out the likeness :p Ive used this a couple of times since, has its place but yeah, it does weigh a bit, I have the UCO one as well now and thats heavier strongly.
Thanks, I just got gifted the UCO version, to be honest, the build doesn't feel any better but it is heavier for some reason, may have to do a comparison though they are VERY similar. Thanks for watching
Hello again Andy. There was food involved, so you know i'm bound to comment.Good presentation, but i don't see a bright future for the product. Let me explain why, and any other subscribers, please give your views on my view. It would appear to be made for the light weight backpackers market? The only trouble is, lightweight back packers are unlikely to have a BBQ. mainly cos you cant get light weight burgers, steaks, cheese or buns. OK, buns are light, but hard to pack out for long distances. So for me, its a bit of an interesting gadget, a very clever and well thought out design. but with limited practical usage. And as for the price? thats one more thing to put me off. personally i'd rather spend far less on a BBQ meat holder, it probably weighs more, and doesn't pack down like the pocket BBQ. But you could quite easily hang one off the back of your pack without to much trouble, and you could removed the top layer of a meat holder, and effectively hold it like a frying pan over a small fire. so as they say in 'dragons den' "i'm out im afraid". Still love ya channel mate. Gary
Just realised, i didn't mention the fire bow, that could be very useful for a one man small fire, maybe in a place where your not meant to have fire. you could protect the ground with some logs, or dig it into the earth.
Hi mate, you're not wrong, there are lighter (such as the Coleman folding) and light weight hikers usually don't have fire etc but I think its got a niche, also, could be ok for 'bug out / emergency bags' etc. I guess over time Ill see if I take it out with me haha, cheers for watching.
I find that item hard to fault given its price/weight though i do like the folding bbq grill/stand that Scottish Wanderer uses. Ok it may not stand up to its purpose after many uses regarding its cheapness but its a nicely thought out item imo.
If i may reply again, i understand the initial reply but its lighter than a pan for example i am sure. Its not of course for soloist (sp) cooking in extremes but it is an option given its weight if fortune shines.
its actually not that much lighter than a pan, not if you use a titanium plate as a pan. see 'jack outdoors' life venture titanium plate vid. and you can cook a lot more on a pan, all BBQ stuff, plus onions, and fry an egg the next morning for breakfast. like i said, i'm impressed with the idea, just not sure how many they will sell. i try and go as pan free as possible for a one nighter, wrap it in tin foil and bung it in the fire if you can, thats my motto.
