This whole aluminium alloy frame or plastic frame situation has had me really confused. I mean, we all knew it was gonna be plastic back and aluminium alloy frame, right? So, I did some research and found this... "The frame appears to be plastic but POCO does list an aluminium alloy frame in the POCO X3 NFC’s specifications, so I guess that it is plastic on the outside but there’s an aluminium frame in there somewhere to provide additional structural strength." - Quoted from a review posted in Gearbest community. (Gearbest sells the global variant of this phone, that is, the Poco X3 NFC.) So, like the review states, it very well might be that case. If yes, then that's the reason an initial plastic layer was revealed after a superficial scratch. Now, you all might have seen everyone say how the polycarbonate/plastic back of the phone has a certain flex to it. It almost bends/depresses a bit downwards around the camera bump, if you apply enough pressure with a finger. That could be due to absence of the NFC pad, as stated by a few people in their comments. So yeah, I do understand it. But, I don't get why Poco needs to go with an all plastic frame for implementing the 6000 mAh battery. They could very well have used the same kind of frame used the global Poco X3 NFC. So, if we were to believe the idea stated in the Gearbest review, that plastic exists only superficially and the phone does indeed have an inside aluminium frame for structural strength, we could hopefully assume it to be true for our Indian variant. Now, all we can do is wait for JerryRigEverything's Poco X3 NFC durability test. If his frame scratch test also reveals an initial plastic layer, we could be a bit more sure about the situation. And knowing Zack, he will do what he can to reveal the actual frame material, even more so after Poco has claimed (at least for the global variant) that it has got an aluminium alloy frame. Now, if metal is revealed right away in his test, we can be sure that the Indian variant indeed has an inferior plastic frame. Either way, if Zack doesn't find out any hint of aluminium alloy for structural integrity, people are gonna have a rage shower session over Poco for false advertisement. But, I've just got a feeling that the plastic is just on the outside and there's a real aluminium frame inside. Also, I feel like the bend didn't happen properly. Like, it didn't bend like Poco X2. I saw comments saying, Mr. Gupta didn't perform the bend till the end because he wanted to save the phone for his mega drop test video, which could be true. But, what if it didn't bend properly due to the presence of a real aluminium alloy frame somewhere inside the outer plastic frame? These are my thoughts out of curiosity. Thanks for reading and let me know what you guys think about the same. Anyway, it's still an awesome phone for the price and I'm gonna order it in the 3rd sale where I can hopefully get the base variant in shadow gray.
