READ:
i forgot to mention, it´s best to use as short of a cable as you can for the reamping loop to minimize interference. also a reamping box in the loop would be good to get the DI signal to the right level for the input and minimize noise even more.
so, here´s one method of reamping with the pod hd pro, though this can be done with any amp modeler as long as you can pan the tone hard to one side. this whole matter is not very usful for everybody, though. it´s more for those guys who also mix for other bands and are provided with DI´s. your costumers will thank you ;)

of course you can. it´s the exact same process. use the x3 as audio device in your DAW, pan the tone hard to one side and connect the other output side to the guitar input jack.
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 11 лет назад
yeah it would. i basically muted one side in this video, but you can also just pan it hard to the other side. then both paths are on one side and you can reamp with it again.

a reamp box helps to bring the DI signal to the right volume level to make it mimic a real instrument. that´s how i understand it anyways. but when the volume is ok and you adjust the gate, compressor and gain in your tone it still sounds pretty good. i do it like this with one band i´m mixing for at the moment and the end result sounds just fine.

Works perfect in the PODHD500X, using the Guitar In or Aux In and configuring inputs accordingly (in the POD or PODhd edit) thanks a lot!

go through the setup again following the tutorial step by step from beginning to end. i got that question a couple of times and people always forgot something that was explained in this video. there´s a lot of details to the setup so quadruple check and make sure you didn´t miss anything.

i noticed one detail i didn´t think about. sorry. deactivate the monitor button when you want to record. activating it will create a feedback loop. and put the output level on the back of the pod to AMP. the LINE level will probably be too loud and create too much distortion. hope it helps.
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 11 лет назад

this method is more for people who mix for other people and want to reamp DI recordings with this unit. if you record yourself with the pod hd pro you don´t need this technique.
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 11 лет назад
one is a pedal board the other is a rack mount. depends on what you want. they sound the same.
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 11 лет назад
on the top of my head either you need to switch the output level from line to amp on the back of the pod, or your DI signal is too loud, or you have bad cables/connections.

Cool, I was wondering how to set up something like this -- right now I'm rigging up one bank of patches, with no effects after the mixer block, to do the wet signal hard left and dry signal hard right so I can record onto two mono tracks in my DAW. I figured I would then just always reamp the dry signal, if necessary, with Guitar Pro, but if there's a decent way to do it with the POD then that will be fun. What kind of level do you aim for when recording the dry signal?
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 11 лет назад
reamp with guitar pro? you sure you don´t mean guitar rig or something? i myself don´t actually record DI´s. when i do amp plugin testing, though, i just record them at some default level without giving it much attention and dial in the tone accordingly.

Hey! Thanks for this, so I got mine to work, and it sounds good when it plays back. However, when arm it to record and record the processed track, it records SUPER harsh and doesnt sound anything like when i play it back with out recording. Any clue what could cause this? I am using a POD HD500, but I think it is pretty much the same as the PRO. Thanks!

Hey man, I tried this exact setup, I got the tone coming through which was good but it had alot of noise also and I hear that yours doesnt, any advice? I seen in the description you can try a reamp box and such but this way you show just seems alot easier haha, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You won't need a reamp box. By doing it this way you use the balanced output of the pod going into a balanced guitar input, so no need for reamp!

thankyou very much for this tutorial but unfortunately I can't get this to work. I have followed everything exactly, as far as I can tell. Although I get a lot of feedback whenever I arm the track I want to record and the the one I want doesnt even play anymore?

Great video. Thanks! I have a question. Is it possible to do this with an real amp? I mean sending DI track signal from DAW via unbalanced output of POD HD to input of guitar amplifier instead of POD HD instrument input.

Yes, I did it, just connect your amp using the four cable method and you can at least record your amp's pre.

Can't you do this if you have a already a audio interface? The problem for me is playing a straight DI signal sounds horrible and you will play differently. I would like to be able to hear a nice distorted tone and at the sametime record a DI???

@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 10 лет назад
you got a feedback loop. all the info is in the video, i can´t say anything more about it.
@djentlover
@djentlover 10 лет назад
You have to have another cable hanging free in the other POD output too, or else POD is sending a mono signal (not panned) to guitar input, that's what causes the feedback loop.
@FERCBA4109
@FERCBA4109 8 лет назад
question here. what if you set up your daw to have two audio devices, por example the pod hd pro and a presonus audiobox. could you set up the chain to get the sound of the DI signal into de pod, then the reamp loop and out to the imput of the audiobox and the output of the audiobox to the speakers? could it work?
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 8 лет назад
yes, absolutely. that´s actualy the "real" way to reamp. when you think of the Pod as a real amp-cab-mic configuration you can approach reamping exactly the same way like you would normally do. i also got me a Scarlett 6i6 a while back and set up a reamp loop using spdif. so the DI´s go via spdif to the Pod which is great because you don´t get any extra noise. than it goes from the Pod into the line inputs on the back of the Scarlett. in a few episodes of my latest "Johnny´s Secrets" series where i show stuff on the Pod, that´s the way i set things up to make the videos.
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 11 лет назад
dude, it´s so not. you´ll need a power amp. but don´t ask me what´s good or not. i have no idea.

Dude.. There is a Dry Out and Line In on the Pro X. No need to plug the guitar cable in the back..
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 8 лет назад
the Dry Out is for recording DI´s. it doesn´t do anything for when you want to reamp already recorded DI´s.
@TheToillMainn
@TheToillMainn 8 лет назад
Ofc it is! But as I said, there is a Line In as well. Two actually! so the guitar cable loop is completely pointless. ;)
@ForTiorIJohnny
@ForTiorIJohnny 8 лет назад
not sure i understand where you´re going with this. you´d still have to connect one output to that line input in order to loop a DI back into the Pod for reamping. so you still have a guitar cable loop. of course that also works. i only used the guitar input here to show this technique works with any modeler as long as you can pan the tone. but thinking back this whole method is kind of stupid when you think about it. after i got the Scarlett 6i6 and hooked the Pod into a reamp loop with that i thought "what was i thinking back than?" xD it´s soooo much smoother and you can reference the tone directly in context of the full mix when you set it up right.
@TheToillMainn
@TheToillMainn 8 лет назад
True. However you could skip plugging the guitar cable in the back of the unit and sacrifice stereo output. This especially come in handy if you've got a soundcard with more than two outputs. You could just plug it in and leave it like that forever.

ok so how to properly reamp from the pod hd pro there is a DRY OUT on the back of it k so get a guitar cable plug it into the dry out to a input on your interface (and also a xlr if you want to record the already processed tone to have options in mixing) and plug in like regular through the front and play like normal but record it lol then from your daw i/0 the recorded clean or dry guitar signal out from a output back into the front of the pod on a empty tone create a new tone of your liking now record it back in after you have made said tone cause this video is a joke he maybe able to play guitar or whatever but his approach to this is is NOOB level at best
@ForTiorIJohnny

duh, this is a tutorial for noobs who don´t have an extra audio interface. taking that into consideration this is the best approach you can take.
