Primary school childrens' parents should definitely do some maths problems at home as per the curriculum along with the reading. I was shocked when my yr 1 child turned up with a class quiz that had all the wrong answers. I felt they would have aced it if they had little support at home. School standards are dropping in UK with low salaries of teachers and teaching trainees being reluctant to enter the profession. If we don't give sufficient attention to our childrens' studies, then it's ultimately their future that will suffer.
