What I learned about anti-angiogenesis foods are many. But three are on the top: broccoli, mushrooms and garlics. They are not expensive and easily accessible. So I eat them every day. Cabbages can sometimes replace broccoli. Leeks and onions can sometimes replace garlics. For the garlic family, I can also double or triple them down to have garlics, leeks and onions in one dish. They are delicious!

From 7:35 he lists other top anti-angiogenesis foods though: herbs&spices, berries, cocoa powder, ground flaxseeds; and further: artichokes, whole grain rye, soy yoghurt. Wonder if anti-angiogenesis has disadvantages as well - e.g. impairing muscle mass conservation / growth?

@@xcast1 Dr. William Li said, it must be a balance. Too much angiogenesis will cause cancer, but too little will cause heart disease. I think I’m pretty healthy in cardiovascular system. So, I focus more on anti-angiogenesis to avoid cancer. Animal proteins activate mTOR, which stimulates IGF-1 and promote cancer. If one wants to grow muscles, he/she should eat animal proteins the day of their weight training, i.e. coming in from one end and leaving from the other end on the same day.

We eat cruciferous veggies and garlic-onions-leeks daily. Has helped stop growth of my husband's stage 4 prostate cancer. Thanks to Dr Greger for guiding us in this plant based whole foods diet for 3.5 years! Keeping my husband alive!

What about people with heart disease? Don't they need angiogenesis to bypass clogged arteries?

I introduced nutrition acts to a friend weeks ago. Today she told me she has implemented Dr Gregor’s book recipes in her life, and resulted in great improvements in how her body feels!!! Made my day!!

Very interesting indeed. A popular biohacking /fitness/wellness supplement nad+/nadh is used for atp production and energy. I learned it creates angiogenesis. If you don't know you have cancer cells & are taking it then this could be bad news. Yet the benefits of nadh are widely discussed. Hard to know what to do

I am interested in the topic for cancer prevention or cure but the weight loss aspect is great to know too! I am going to try this (already plant based except I eat salmon now). I would really like to know all the foods that are but also is the reverse true? Are there foods to avoid that would promote angiogenesis?

Dear Dr Greger, I've read about a peptide called BPC157 and how it helps to promote healing injuries by... ENCOURAGING angiogenesis: helping to create new blood vessels that pump blood and nutrients to injured tissue. What's your take on angiogenesis and its relation to recovery from sports injuries like tendonitis?

Don’t we need angiogenesis to build muscle? Does this mean broccoli stunts my results at the gym?
