Technology is a great thing as long as you use it as a tool to help you create music. Unfortunately too many people believe that technology will turn them into great musicians. That's not gonna happen. Either you've got skills or you don't. There's a reason why record companies still hire producers. Their job is to make sure that the quality of recorded music is as good as possible. Modern technology enables anybody to record their own music in their bedrooms. Nobody's telling them if it's crap though. I just hope that music technology will not kill the art of music.
Let’s stop with immersion in music. We just don’t hear it that way and it just sounds unnatural. There are also some things that are in a mix that are there just to fill space and be subtle or just to add a vibe, like a shaker or a whisper or just a random sound. These things work in the stereo field but not in an immersive mix. No one want to hear a shaker behind their ear or a guitar circling their head, immersion is ruining music.
