We have big plans for 2024. Very BIG. Everything from a slight variation of videos we put on the RU-vid channel, to living abroad and travelling for half a year! But that all brings change and change brings FEAR. in this podcast we explore those changes and what they mean to us.

Just can’t tell you how much you guys inspire me, time after time…. Thank you so much 🙏🤠. Could I make just one point about the fear of solo wild camping, I’m the same and I came across a RU-vid video where a well seasoned camper Scottish chap eluded to how to address fear, he simply said, as your not used to the sounds of nature, if you go solo camping 10 times, the majority of your fear will dissipate, yes there will be the odd occasion, but 80% of fear will fade, it’s sensible to keep 20% trepidation to keep you alert and safe, I tried this, and it does work. Please keep your content going, it’s just what I need to keep me moving forward….😊

Wow, what a cool comment, thank you. You're right, I'm going to get out there and do some wild camps before I head off on the trip. The more experience I have, the less I'll worry. Ride safe 👊🏻😎

Great conversation. Looking forward to the coming adventures. It's interesting to think about what people find scary. I'm shure there's stuff you do that would scare the bejeesus out of me. camping is not one of them. I have camped all my life. The most dangerous part of camping is being unprepared for Mosquitos. The only problem I have solo camping or solo riding is a nagging feeling that the experience would be richer if I could share it with someone else. Solo riding in the Oregon Outback is not wise. It can be deadly. You don't have to be too far off the beaten path to be totally helpless if you break down or injure yourself. A Garmin InReach Mini is a must even riding with a group. Marc, your world travel sounds fantastic. Push yourself but be smart. In the end, it's not all about you. You have an appointment in Bangkok. Never forget, your only Flesh, Blood, and Bone. Happy trails guys.

Excited to listen to this later today! I was just thinking about a long travel like this myself so I'm keen to hear your plans.

solo wild camping is one thing that has never really bothered me, the thing that does is getting the crf stuck jn the middle of nowhere alone Wild camping wise try places like candy corner bush craft near Doncaster it's cheap and on a privately owned wood so ideal to help reduce those solo camp anxieties

After listening to your bit about storytelling, I immediately thought to recommend you watch @projectbiker and his CRF300 trip to Monaco, then I scroll down to the comment section and here he is! Glad you're already acquainted.

Marc, you are in for an epic adventure. Sven Hedin, one of the few Europeans to cross the Taklamakan Desert called it " the worst and most dangerous desert in the world". If you are interested in the history of the Silk Road, get a copy of the book by Peter Hopkirk "Foreign Devils On The Silk Road". The Search for the Lost Cities of Chinese Central Asia. If world events make your travels impossible, Hang on to it for better times. In the meantime you are welcome to visit us in Oregon. Don't worry, mass shootings only happen at entertainment events, places of worship, and schools. Cheers

OK, I'm back. Well, it's your fault. You talked about so many things; it deserves more than one long winded comment. Shredded scooter belts. You might know more about this than me, but I will not be deterred, and I will give it a go anyway. Most, if not all scooters, snowmobiles, and many cars now (CVT) use what's called a VariDrive, an infinitely variable drive system which uses a pair of automatically adjustable pulleys or shives and a belt. OK, here it is. My from halfway around the world Brilliant idea: When the drive pulley, which is also a centrifugal, clutch speeds up, it squeezes the belt and forces it to travel higher and a larger diameter in the pulley. Now - The sides of the driven pulley must move away from each other to allow the belt to travel deeper in the pulley so the drive ratio can change with a fixed length belt. OK, stick with me -I'm getting there. OK, and this is my great insight. IF the driven pulley is stuck in the squozed position and the belt can't stretch, Which it can't ------- The belt must give up, commit suicide, and shred itself. HA! If you don't Believe me, find an Italian, they know all there is to know about scooters, even Chinese ones. Get this fixed before you go on any treks, especially if you decide to take it on your ADV to Bangkok. Go ahead and laugh. It's been done. Many, many, many, ------ many times. I read it in the tabloids. Also, you are going through China. Perfect time and place to get it overhauled during your extended interrogation and possible interment. Happy trails. don't worry we will meet again.

I think it was Lyndon Poskitt who said: the number one commodity for adventure is time.

HA! Thought you were rid of me did you? OK, I'm having a slow day, and there was something else I wanted to comment on ---- HARD THINGS I have some experience with Hard Things. Actually, they are not hard. They are terrifying until you gain the skill to do them well. In my case it was aerobatic flying. First, the Loop, then Rolls, Spins, Cuban 8's, scissors, and so on. So here is what I have to say about Hard Things. Approach them with caution. Practice. Learn from those who have mastered them. Be worried if you become an adrenalin junkie, chasing, one hard thing after another. Several of my flying buddies were severely injured and two were killed, including my instructor, in aircraft accidents. I love flying more than anything, but I quit because I had become an adrenalin junkie. I realized that death is not the hard thing, it's the "forever thing", not worth it. When you are alone out in the wild, relax, soak it in, and enjoy. It's not the place to try the next Hard Thing. Safe Travels, JIm
