Podcasters say using washcloths are gross and for 'poor people' 

This is an example of why you shouldn't listen to internet influencers; too many of them have opinions but not knowledge.

But they all let their dogs kiss them in the mouth

My mother is a retired nurse & she's the one that taught me to use a wash cloth when bathing for maximum cleanliness. She understood all about germs and how they spread. So I can truly say all these people are beyond ignorant. You need to sloth off the dry and dead skin cells off your body. Loofahs are known to breed bacteria on them, that's why you use a new wash cloth for each bathing session. I wash all my towels on sanitary setting & keep a separate set that I only use on my face. Those two young ladies have probably had more UTI's than most!

That's why you wash your towels and your clothes, in the washer. I don't listen to people who already have prejudices.

Wash cloths cost money, your hands are free, so I'm confused as to how wash cloths are for poor people

These are the same folks who come out the bathroom without washing their hands, who don’t wash their meats and have pets in bed and on the kitchen counter 🥴

All these people not using washcloths; you simply need to get an alcohol pad and rub it on your skin after a full shower….you’ll see how much dirt is still on your body! It should change anyone’s perspective. A loofa is for exfoliating, a sponge is great for lather and cleaning…but only a washcloth can get in around your ears and allows you to truly clean the crevasses of your body…i use all 3!

Who is coming to take hygiene criticism from people who walk barefoot in public restrooms and stink when they are wet.

Imagine hating a group so much you have to try to shame them for 'cleaning'. It used to be calling those you didn't like dirty or whatever. I don't have energy for this kind of hate and I never want to.

Would you wash your car with your hand? Or your dishes with your hand? If they are worried, then use a new wash cloth every day. They do actually make disposable wash cloths now. But using your hand to clean your body, not good. If poor people are the only ones using was cloths, then poor people are the ones that are clean and smell good.

I have exfoliating gloves, they're the second most important part of my hygiene basket. These dumb, anti washcloth people are so out of touch with reality.

I truly wish they would stop sharing the lack of personal hygiene with the world. It's been historically documented for centuries. CENTURIES.

You are supposed to use a new washcloth every time you bathe and a new towel too. It sounds like people don't know how to clean themselves properly.

That’s why you’re supposed to have several washcloths! You change them like you change your underwear…….DUH 🤷🏽‍♀️. Use it…… replace it with a clean one and let the used one dry out. Then put the used one in the hamper to be washed. It’s really not rocket science and washcloths cost what…… two dollars each? Buy 12 of them and don’t be weird about it.

Using something to scrub with feels good on the skin. It's exfoliating and it increases blood and lymph circulation. The hands-only people are missing out.

These the same people that sit on the toilet and don't wash their hands afterwards and invite you over for dinner.

I have separate ones for different things. They are color coated.

I use a new washcloth every time I shower. I have a lot of them.

I worked at a Linens n Things years ago so I feel like I can weigh in on this. I literally had a towel training! Every culture and income level that came to our store bought washcloths. I think those podcasters were just being dramatic. Buy more washcloths than hand or bath towels so you can have a new one each time. If you have acne, buy white towels and washcloths if you use a benzoyl peroxide product. It bleaches dyed towels over time.

It irks me people with personalities like that. He must really think he is above people the way he says wash clothes are for poor people.

I suggest to those that don’t use a washcloth, try for a couple of weeks. You will start to notice subtle smells coming from your friends that don’t use washcloths. Those smells will soon be intolerable. Then you will know why a washcloth is necessary (and your skin will be soft). You’re welcome.

ironically, I never used washcloths when I was poor. I was so poor that i used my hands.

Washing your body only with your hands, is something I’ve only known to be done by White people. I’d think washing with your hands is for poor people who can’t afford or don’t want to spend money on washcloths. I always wondered how they get clean using their hands. Is that why when it rains… Oh my, the smell! On the school bus with them and that smell? We couldn’t wait to get to school on those days. Not that we didn’t have some Black that was “sounding off”, too. But usually, that was an issue of poverty; no running water, no bathrooms in houses, etc. As you can see, I’m a little miffed by what these people had to say about washcloths.

I grew up using washcloths and I still do today , and them saying washcloths are for poor people? Tell that to Macy’s, Kohl’s, and JC Penny, that’s where I get mine from and I buy when it’s a sale and stack up on them , some of those that said washcloths are nasty are probably only bathing once or twice a week with their hands that touched everything and probably ain’t washed those , going around smelling like billy goats and like they worked overtime in the gut department of a fish factory, I’m sticking with my washcloths and making sure I clean the rooter to the tooter

I use a wash cloth and bar soap when showering, then occasionally I may use a fragrance body wash afterwards. Fun Fact : Do the alcohol swab after a shower to truly see how clean you are

This is clearly an issue for the clear folx, not us. ✊🏾 I use two washcloths - one for my face and one for the rest of my body. If only one washcloth? Start at the top and move your way down. It’s not rocket science. Cleaning them? That’s what washing machines are for. Or are those only for poor people too? They are showing their ignorance and it’s obvious that they mommas was nasty too, and they’ve just told us all that they never learned to clean themselves in any proper way. For poor people? Saving soap? HOW????? The soap gets used up much faster using a wash cloth. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE??

Trying to wrap my head around their logic that using a washcloths is unhygienic or disgusting, when they literally use (and probably reuse) a towel to dry those “nether regions” that their hand alone doesn’t thoroughly clean. Brilliant.

This has a insidous racial undertone. I renew my wash cloths every month. And when i scrub my body, i get cleaner. I bathe twice a day sometimes more. The tub is always dirty !

I can tell you from personal experience, washing your body means exfoliating dead skin cells as well as washing away dirt, I personally use a scrubbie with a handle so I can put some English on it to really get clean, I have had to bathe with just my hands and soap and let me tell you I still felt dirty afterwards like it was a waste of time, water, soap, and money!!

I dont listen to Podcasters , they are the same people who say they wake up at 3am get on the treadmill and meditate ,listening to them makes you lose braincells

There was a Dr. who woked in a clinic. He used the restroom, but never washed his hands (the desk where I sat was right next to the restroom; therefore, I could hear the water quite well whenever it was turned on). He walked right in- used it- flushed- then walked directly back out. Next thing I know I saw his ungloved hands all over the turkey he was carving for our in-office Thanksgiving feast dinner!

You should always use a washcloth when washing your body. If a washcloth gets dirty, you throw it in the washer and grab a clean one. A washcloth is a best friend.

Early arrivals to North America had told by Natives and others NOT to drink the water they crap in. The rest of us always knew they haven’t got to wash clothes yet.

Every store that sells towels sells washcloths….even high end stores….so how would washcloths be for “poor” people only? That guy makes no sense. I have always used my hands or used a washcloth….washcloths remove dead skin…and all you have to do is wash them in the washing machine just like you do towels to get them clean…they don’t give you a UTI….where do these podcasters even get this stuff. Also…even if I don’t use the washcloth to wash my body…I still need a washcloth to dry my eyes if they get water in them because that irritates my eyes. It’s more strange that people wouldn’t own any washcloths….if you have kids they may need to dry their eyes when washing…kids don’t like water getting in their eyes. There are many uses for washcloths. But to look down on people or say washcloths are only for the poor is ridiculous. It doesn’t matter if you use your hands or use a sponge or a washcloth….it’s basically all the same except the washcloth and maybe even the sponge will remove dead skin and hands won’t….but if you have sensitive skin then you might need to use your hands only because sometimes the roughness can irritate skin.

A washcloth does not need to go near a vajayjay. UTI? wtf? What is she putting in/on/near there? Dirty birdies or wiping incorrectly are typically what cause that.

There's NO way that you are getting all dirt, sweat, and dead skin cells from the day off of you without using a wash cloth. Black people don't play these types of games. It's nasty to NOT use anything but your hand to clean your body.. Crazy. No way 🙅🏾‍♀

I'm a Black woman who was once married to a white dude and never gave any thought about the washcloth/no washcloth dynamic until now, but when I think about it he never ever used a washcloth to clean his body - it was always just his hands, whereas I always used a washcloth. My current routine is I use an African net sponge for my body, a wash cloth on my ears, navel and down below (water only, ladies) and a clarisonic on my face. I use a fresh, clean washcloth every shower.

As an RN, wash cloths are used daily. Wash cloths clean the body throughly. The fibers of the cloths also exfoliate the skin removing the dead skin reducing the cellular buildup. Using a wash cloth whilst washing also reduces bacterial infection by constantly throughly cleaning the skin. Podcasts are ridiculous by saying wash cloths should not be used!!! Only use at one bath time only and toss in a hot cycled with bleach washing machine.

Yes to the wash cloth . It keeps your body cleaner and it gets into those dirty areas the human hand cannot clean .Water and hand soap will wash away the soap .Soap and the wash cloth get that body clean .

When I was younger I grew up with using a washcloth and sponges. Now I use a bath brush. No way you can get clean just using your hands.

You use a fresh amd clean wash cloth every time you shower. You dont use the washcloth more than once without washing it. A towel you use to dry your body you use for a few showers, hang ut to dry after each use and wash once a week. Spong's dont get washed and carry bacteria. Yout hand us a good option or at least better than nothing.

Wash cloths help with exfoliation. Its no different from a loofah. Wash and sanitize with hot water after use. Allow loofahs to dry thoroughly between uses.
