I so wish you would have continued from the start of act 10 with the character, or at least in the start of this showed the skill tree and point allocation from where you left to max level, I'm a console player so I have no access to this POB stuff so I'm pretty much quessing where to put skill points and stuff.. none the less, thank you so very much for the video, without it I would have never installed the game again..

Agreed. I just got to maps for the first time and played 2, then watched this and I feel like you spent 90% of the time talking about late game maps and not wtf is happening with this map system, why I can put in multiple maps but it doesn't work, should I use rare white maps or save those? Should I do all the 4 mods I can every time I can (beasts, mine stuff etc.). should I be rushing to the highest tier possible and clear slower or play lower but clear way faster. Do I go for the bosses or try to kill every pack? What are the pro strats to be most efficient when you first get there.

@@BuzzaB77 haha.. i do maps just for the cluttert/flashing screen, zerging and explosions. The progressions actually comes naturally doing whatever maps that drop. Best part is you can play at your own pace without being time gated or worry about daily resets like some other games *cough lost ark cough*. I always come back to PoE sooner or later.

From what I understood, you need to do maps to get better gear. Basically maps is your source of getting Exalted orbs, the currency you use to buy the good stuff, of course, there's the other possibility of endless grinding for the item you need to drop, and that vary per build you have, so it would be really specific build videos gearing.

3.17 changed alot. I got more then 2000h in this game and rarely got to red maps (my ADHD makes me lose motivation really fast). This league I reached t16 maps without even trying. I played pretty strong Absolution then Skeleton Mages but still, the progress was super smooth map wise. Before I was stuck in yellow so long because of the stupid Watchstone mechanic.

every new league i try to complete my atlast or try t16 and eng bosses, but i cant farm past t12-t13 maps, red map are rare=( and i lose motivation if i stack too long on something.

I think part of the challenge to what you are asking for is that it's different for everyone. If you are really versed in a skill, you can likely get away with a lot less defense whereas if you are bad at a skill you might need a lot more. Without knowing what you play and why you struggle, it would be hard for anyone to say this is what you should get in this order as far as offense and defense is concerned. Here's an example: I play a lot of different builds but I'm best as a totem player (a style not a lot of people enjoy). If I'm playing totems, I can go through the entire campaign and white/yellow maps w/o capping my resistance because I don't really get hit (I'm usually negative res when I first get to maps). This is a huge advantage because I can simply push offense, which means a given budget gets me much further since my damage is so much higher. But if I'm playing say a self-cast spell or a melee build, I can't do that--I generally need to make sure I'm res capped by like Act 6 at the latest. If you are struggling with the early part of the game, I think the first step is to try to identify the type of character you feel most comfortable playing. Then look for a guide for such a character that can operate on practically no gear. By this I mean, no required uniques, nothing you have to buy or the build doesn't work, etc. Your build should be good with vendor recipe items and life/resistance items. If it needs more than that, don't play that build as your first build in the league. When you get better at the game, you'll be able to open up to builds that have more required pieces as you'll have the experience to know which things you can get quickly and easily. The next part is to identify what is primarily killing you. Are you doing so little damage that you don't kill regular mobs quickly enough, are you bad at avoiding incoming hits, or is it just bosses that are killing you. Some of this is going to come down to gear but some of it is more of a practice thing (learning mechanics of fights). Some is also a playstyle thing. If you love melee for example, it's much harder to avoid getting hit all the time (and therefore you need better gear on average) than if you are killing things from long range. Knowing the answers to these questions can also help narrow down the best type of builds for you. Overall, what I'm trying to say is, an average build that plays to your strengths is much stronger than a busted build that you find awkward. Best of luck, we all start somewhere. It's frustrating to keep dying but a small amount of time spent looking into "why" can yield a huge amount of difference.

@Dwankles what are some recent builds you've struggled with? Most of the decent league start build guides have trees for early/mid/late budget. For many starter builds you can get to reds with mostly life+res gear+tabby and maybe a unique. Currency should be easy to acquire for trade league. You can do chaos recipe. You can do infinite heist. You can do essences. If you hit a wall, you can go down a few map tiers to something smooth and farm up a bit.

@@benkester1518 I tried the Explosive Arrow Totem last league, like the one he just did a video on, and I was blown away at the difference. Watching his 7hr video he ran through mobs and dropped totems- killed everything and tanked everything (even when trying to die). When I did that, I would just get insta killed without trying to die lol. So it leads me to believe from a play style I'm not far off, but from a gear standpoint I am. But Zizaran did also mention go Champion and I was an Elementalist because that's what I found a guide for, so maybe that change can help. Another build I played and loved was Cyclone Impale. Got to like T5-T6 maps on that, but then I would just keep getting stomped out when Id go to Cyclone a pack. I look for the mods to avoid like reflect mods (learned that the hard way my first league I tried), and other things like life leech and mana regen. Same with Carrion Golems, just seem to get one shot before my minions can kill stuff. I know it's different for everyone and I have definitely learned a lot, I just always feel at a loss though when it comes to knowing if a piece of gear is an actual upgrade or not. I assume me using Act 7 gear isn't supposed to carry me into yellow maps, but when I see the stats the map gear typically doesn't seem a lot better. I may just need to try and find a good filter video and work on that to help out. As a side note, Zizaran did say crafting is really good, so I plan to try and learn crafting more this League, as I typically do not craft/harvest anything because I don't understand it yet. Just try to pick and choose one or two things to learn each league and build off that. One day I will graduate from being a pepega!

These video guides span 6-10+ hours each league and the game in constantly changing so they do need to be updated every league. Turning that amount of knowledge into written form would be a massive undertaking and I don't think anyone would ever want to go through that, especially considering how often things change.
