Oh, man. If you ever watch/listen to all of his videos and albums, you will see how special he is. No one is doing it like him these days, non k-pop included. His art is literally and figuratively, insane.

fun fact: hes korean austrailian! big explanation: his entire discography is based around the disorders hes lived with and what it feels like, and in his mvs he represenents BD (bipolar 1) and more recently DiD (dissociative identity disorder) and when u watch his mvs with that in mind it really brings a new dimension of understanding imho though, i personally dont even categorize him in kpop. hes doing his own thing to me at least (whenever i share his songs my friends who dont listen to kpop get into him quick)

You want to love 100% of someone's catalogue? You've found the right guy. He is a musician and he does his own videos. And he has a very interesting backstory. I love him. I love the sound effects and production and his voice. Check it all out. I loved his video release right before this one, so fun!

DPR Ian's music is really amazing. He writes his own music. Also if you look at the credits in the beginning of the music video it shows that Ian directed and edited the music video.

Aww thank you for that shout out, that is so sweet of you lol! Ian's work is dripping with creative genius. He does write all of his own work, he is also a videographer and creative director for DPR (which stands for Dream Perfect Regime). There is a lore with his work that I can help with but I would like to recommend some of the interviews he's done with Zach Sang, JREKML (who he's friends with) and there is another... I can't remember the name but I have them all in a playlist. If you ever want that playlist just let me know. So damn stoked that you enjoyed this and I cannot wait for the next reaction! ✌

He's one of the most creative and interesting artist of this generation, also he got bipolar and dissociative identity disorder. He created 2 different characters to express them through music since his last album

It makes me so happy to see more people discovering DPR Ian. I don't think I've ever been so emotionally invested in helping the fanbase grow lol He is an amazing musician, and considering the sound, the style, the lore, everything about his music, I think he drifted away from k-pop and pop in general far enough to consider him his own genre. Nobody does it like him these days. The only two people with such distinct and instantly recognisable styles that I can think of are Jackson Wang (active kpop group member for years but now singing in English and doing his own thing mostly, Chinese), and Jeff Satur who is multitalented (Thai, never involved in kpop). But even though I really appreciate these two, DPR Ian is high up there on a pedestal for me. As many people in the previous comments say - to understand the lore a little, you need to watch the Mito movie - Mito is a character he becomes when his bipolar depressive episode comes. The lore is is intricately built that I'd need to write a whole essay here that you wouldn't even read because of its length haha Sorry, I'm too old to get this hyped up 🤣 Thank you for the reaction!

I recommend you to watch all of his stuff because they are linked with each other! But I would say you should start off with "Mito Movie Part 1" to know about the lore. And then you should watch his first MVs from the first album called " M.I.T.O": " So Beautiful," "Nerves," "Scaredy Cat" and the " MITO documentary" to understand it! I bet you will hook.

Since you said you like metal and that these lyrics are more in that realm: DPR Ian was actually really into metal as a teen, i think he said mostly metalcore.. and he does draw inspiration from it besides other music like daft punk ect. I highly suggest that you check out his albums in full because he really tells stories with his music about his mental health struggles. He's super creative and he directs + edits all of his videos by himself. He also worked on other kpop video productions. And yes, he writes and produces his own songs!

DPR IAN=Genius=Art=Sublime!!!! The smile that hit my face knowing the JOY you will have catching up on his back catalogue cause ya this is not his debut!!!! Lucky you and I am here for the ride. Am over in Ireland, am seriously ancient and got dragged into the world of KPOP/Dramas since about 2011, I have two bands I really want to recommend but not sure yet whether they will grab you as you seem to be more hip hop with a touch of metal. FT Island and N Flying are considered to be rock groups! Anyway really enjoyed your faces in this one hahaha.

DPR is a synonym for creativity. Under DPR are four artists: Ian, Live, Cream and Ram. If you like more HipHop try DPR Live. Beside K-pop Korea has some of the most interesting solo artists. If you like it a bit special try Zior Park, Jackson Wang, . Super interesting voices do have Big Naughty, Sion, Kim Yeji from Kardi and Woosung from The Rose.

Christian Yu - DPR IAN - has bipolar and DID. All of his songs are about his journey and struggle with this mental health. He's very open about it and you can hear him speak of it in his Lives and interviews. He's been on Lives during manic states, which was hard to watch, but his fans are so dedicated to him, we scramble to keep anyone from posting saved videos. True fans won't do that to him, anyway. As an example of his songs, Blueberries is about the medication he has to take but hates how it makes him feel. He has other videos that explore the other personalities trying to take over. Those videos are from his MITO albums. MITO is one of his personalities. When MITO appears in his videos, it's to bring him down from one of his out of control highs. The character in green is Mr. Green. I'm not entirely certain who he is yet and multiple people have multiple theories. I'm not sure if IAN has explained him yet. You should listen to his albums "Moodswings In This Order" (MITO) and "Moodswings In To Order." Listen to the tracks in order as they are in the order to explain his experiences and so you feel what he's going through. Watch the videos, too, because they give you visuals on what he's dealing with in those songs. IAN is the most genuine and talented creator I've ever seen and heard.

The DPR Ian rabbit hole is so fun tbh. There is an order to watching his videos, he is a storywriter and all the MVs go together in their own way. Music is always a mix of dark and fun which gives such an interesting vibe that others in the kpop world have never done. He does sing in English so I am not sure he is kpop anymore?

Hey, sorry to do this on another artists reaction (it feels disrespectful, forgive me DPR Ian fans lol), but just wanted to let you know about some upcoming NCT releases that might interest you! - The newest NCT unit, the Japan unit and tentatively called NCT New Team until they debut next year and get their official name, is releasing the music video for their pre-debut song "Hands Up" tomorrow on the 19th. - WayV, the Chinese unit of NCT, is having their full album comeback on November 1st, but they're also releasing a track video tomorrow which might be nice to check out as your introduction to that unit. This is the unit that Ten, from "Baggy Jeans", is in! - It also would be awesome to see you listen to the two most recent albums NCT dropped, 127's Fact Check and NCT's Golden Age.
