Graeme heads off to the stillwater lake of Watmore in an effort to track down some rod bending action, but using a Centrepin reel and a float, which is generally used for running a float down a river.But the reel can still be used at close range for stillwater species, so check the film to find out...also the new "Random Productions" section where GP drops in to film Grant who is converting a Victory Multishot and also fitting a Moderator. Ideal for a bit of vermin control or out on the target circuit...Enjoy!

Great video. Here in America, we are allowed to have regular bullet firing firearms. I competitively shoot the "dreaded" and "evil" AR-15s in .223 or 5.56 caliber and have taken an armored certification class to know how to build & repair the weapons and not much of a difference than a pellet gun. Lately, I have been firing/practicing with my pellet guns due to cost of ammo. A box of 25 .223s runs about $35.00 while a tin of 250 .177 pellets AND 2 boxes of 6 CO cartridges is roughly about $16.00. That's why I use the CO rifles more. I will never give up my ARs but for plinking/practice/pest control....pellets will beat the real guns.
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 9 месяцев назад
I guess its all the same,whether its .177 pellet or a 50 cal mounted on a truck..its all about hitting the target. I guess the larger ammo is always going to be expensive.

Another possibility for the rod rests, is a little C-clamp. Budget ones are sometimes available in the cheap supermarkets. Good idea on the frozen old bait, but definitely one to stay upwind of once it's thawed.

The problem with those little perch is that they do indeed take the hook right down and the hooks are almost impossible to get out. I tend to cut the line as low down as I can when it's really deep and hope that nature will take its course and the hook will eventually fall out as I'd rather lose a hook than the fish its life. I've tried all sorts (not fishing overdepth, overshotting the float, worm instead of maggot), but it still happens and you've got no chance even with the slimmest disgorger. They're ravenous and plagued me constantly at times this summer. I even got one on bread!
@borderlands6606
@borderlands6606 9 месяцев назад
With the same tactics roach, gudgeon and bream will be lip hooked, but the bait will be out of sight with perch. I don't subscribe to the view nature will take its course, and suspect the perch will eventually die with a hook deep inside it. You can mitigate deep hooking with a really short trace on a feeder, or striking on first dip of a float, which will lose at least half your perch and almost all of them on worm. Soft baits tend to cushion the disgorger, making the fish difficult to unhook. The only answer is to avoid perch attracting baits, or use much bigger ones, or spin for them.
@ollyjackson8733
@ollyjackson8733 9 месяцев назад
Keep them they make interesting dead baits
@jonfisher9214
@jonfisher9214 9 месяцев назад
The hook will not eventually fall out. But if it's been swallowed into the stomach, there's a good chance it can be corroded away by the stomach acid over time. Cutting the line is probably the best course of action once it's happened. I'd switch methods if it's happening repeatedly.
@Shagley
@Shagley 9 месяцев назад
Use a bigger hook, perch have huge mouths and a bigger hook won’t go down it’s throat so far
@terryjacob8169
@terryjacob8169 9 месяцев назад
Try circle hooks, I've found they greatly reduce the incidence of deep hooking. I use Eagle Claw L702 pattern, which you can buy in the UK via E-Bay. I use size 14 for maggots, 10 for worms, 4 or 6 for minnows, and hair-rig prawns onto size 8

Ta as a massive fan of your show and when I started fishing I watched your show and learned alot. shooting is in my world I have shot air weapons since I was 7 with my grandfather similar what you have with Mike with fishing unfortunately he passed away this year I still am going to go eventually.the only issue with the co2 ones as you get less power and less shots when it's cold outside to to it being co2 you get more shots from a .22 than a .177normally I recommend a PCP air arms if you get into it they are brilliant rifles BSA use to be good but they are American owned now by a company called gamo the quality of the gamo rifles are bad any spring rifles you come back unless the y are underlever loading don't bother if you need help drop a message to me I will help ya no problem if I can

Ive been thinking of trying a center pin for carp fishing. Using the bait runner and have the standard clutch drop in when i start reeling in sometimes bumps the fish off. I wonder if the centre pin would improve on this. Thoughts? 🤔

OK for margin fishing using one rod.Freeline,leger or float. I wouldn't fancy using a pair of Centrepins for Carp.

When you get a run on baitrunner mode, grab the spool when you grab the rod and strike the run, then engage the clutch after the hooks been set

just a thought, I am not sure of the legalities, but to single out the bigger perch, would a small roach/minnow dead/likebaits single out the bigger fish?
