Patrick knew what was coming ten years before he snuffed it... He got to live the way he wanted on his ranch and got to tell the world to go fk itself... That's exactly what I ASPIRE TO BE...
I know it's been years now, but it's still a huge loss to the movies and human race. RIP Patrick Swayze. Road House, Ghost, Point Break. Just so watchable, again and again.
@@kenfix2740 I hate to be the one to break it to you, but people die. That includes everyone on 9-11, Elvis, Jimmy Hoffa and Hitler. We also definitely went to the moon.
Bank robbing, surfing 24 X 7, shooting punks, lighting bonfires in the beach, ending up dead after surfing a tidal wave. I can still remember the face my mom threw when I told her that was the plan for my life.
Yes. Goodfellas, the sopranos, me myself and Irene, the cable guy, and ace Ventura, and Trainspotting are all those movies for me. It’s crazy how much we can replay things that we love and never grow old of them
Cool fact.. While Patrick Swayze was in winnipeg filming a movie his favorite dog died.. He had it buried here.. Always thought that was cool he respected our city enough to bury a family member here.
Dive from the sky (baptism), surf the waters of the internet (Matrix), into a world being Flayed Beyond Imagination (Underworld), robbing the MOB from what they stole (pearls), retire (safe haven/redemption).
Hard to believe they were in Youngblood together like 5 years earlier. Patrick was a high scoring center for his Canadian Junior team and Keanu as the goaltender.
@@bjscorpio4041Yeah well it's obviously not actually Australia. I don't know why they didn't just use Southern California, it's a better stand in for Victoria than Oregon (Florida can do the tropical parts of Australia reasonably well, and vice versa.)
No it can't, you obviously don't know Australian vegetation up and down the East coast. No country can really emulate another country's coastline, unless of course people are ignorant of the flora. Not to mention the vehicles being driven, the pharmacy with 'Drugs' sign etc etc etc. @@cygil1
Keanu, 27 years here, sounds like a rebellious teenager but listening to him talk these days is like listening to a distinguished gentleman. That man ages like a fine wine.
@@scotmandel6699Yup. That and the car chase plus the scene where they’re all sky diving to that jam. Awesome man film all the way around. Fight scenes. Naked chicks. Plus the singer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. 🤣🔥Epic!
It’s also because Johnny doesn’t want the glory and pomp of bringing in the mastermind behind the ex-presidents. He’s literally at his limits by the time he catches him and has lost all integrity as an agent so he lets him go as a rebellious action to the force and throws away his badge.
Yeah, like a sponge. Doubles in weight when wet. Doesn’t dry easily. Isn’t warm when wet. Doesn’t retain heat when wet. Fighting in wet jeans and jean jacket…bad dude or poor choice from wardrobe people persons.
It's a perfect ending. Poetic in every way from Bodi's last words about the moment he's been waiting for his whole life to Utah saying, 'He's not coming back.' And the chuck of the badge is perfect. There should be more Johnny Utahs.
Awesome movie, and this is one of the most powerful endings ever. What really makes it is Mark Isham's beautiful score, especially how it's mixed with the sound of the rain, and those majestic, crashing waves. Neither Reeves, nor Swayze, nor Busey, nor Bigelow, nor Isham, have ever been better than they were in this film, and they probably never will be.
6:25 is heartbreaking when Johnny knows this will be the last time he sees or speaks to Bodhi, no matter what these two have been through and even if they are on different sides of the law, they remember how they met, and they became friends and bonded only like best friends can bond, especially when Bodhi backed Johnny up against those punks from before. If Johnny didn't truly care for Bodhi then he wouldn't have let him go out the way he wanted to. To me the most heartbreaking aspect of it all is the friendship had to come to an end because of them being on both sides of the law, and I feel that Johnny was hurt from this and he knew his life as FBI agent was done, he couldn't go back to that life anymore especially when it took his best friend, no matter what Bodhi chose as a lifestyle, he always had Johnny's back and loved him like a brother.
I saw this movie at the end of a four movie marathon at the Carlton Theatre in Hamilton NZ, it must have been 130am in the morning and the audience still cheered when Swayze mentioned New Zealand.
6:36 "Vaya con Dios", means "Go with God". He knew that surf wave was suicide. Buddhie already said "If you want the ultimate, you got to pay ultimate price".

My favorite movie. My son was 3 when this came out on VHS and we watched it over and over (mom of the year here! LOL) He loved the bank robbers with the masks. I don't think he quite understood at 3 years old the difference between good guys and bad guys. He just liked the action part. Over the years we would watch this show together or just quote it all the time. Utah, get me 2. Lol. My son passed away in 2023 at the age of 31. I miss him so much it hurts to breathe sometimes. Watching these scenes, this movie......I feel him with me. And it makes me smile so big remembering him at 3 years old shaking his butt saying, the little hand says it's time to rock & roll......🥲
@@omegamanGXE He died of myocarditis. He struggled with addiction. His body couldn't take any more. He tried so many times to get clean and stay clean. The demon of addiction had it's grips in him and wouldn't let go. :(
Undisputed, GREATEST film of the 90's. You just never know how it will end nor do you want it to end. As it reaches this climax you know there can never be a sequel and it's clearly orchestrated to be this way. Words fail me in describing how truly epic and timeless this film is. RIP Patrick Swayze x
God I love this scene. While Utah is clearly not there to let him walk or have his moment with the waves, there's still respect between them. Bodhi feels the same way, and it shows with such simple dialogue. Commenting he 'knew he could count on Utah', asking him if he still surfs. In the midst of explaining how far he went to track him down, clearly still aiming to arrest him and make him pay for his role in everything... he still takes the time to answer Bodhi with the truth, and shows the influence Bodhi had on him. I love that small nod of Bodhi, a hint of a smile, proud of Johnny for continuing to embrace life to the fullest rather than who he used to be. I like to think that influence led to Johnny tossing his badge in the ocean, walking away from that life and starting anew. I might be way off but just my thoughts from this scene. I'm glad Bodhi got the ending he wanted, going out the way he wanted: all go, no stop. RIP Patrick. You were such an amazing talent.
Well said brother. Epic ending and amazing movie. The mutual respect came from the fact that despite Utah wanting to admit it, he and Bodie were the same. They were both chasing something. 🤙
Love both of yalls comments, and if u would look for my comment posted above in the main comment section, I think you'll find it right along appropriate with what you both said, and it was truly from the heart ❤️
This movie really made me want to live life to the fullest ( Skydiving, Surfing, Travelling ). One of my favorite movies of all time. Rest in peace Patrick, you were taken too soon but the good die young. 5 Star movie for anyone who's never seen it.

As someone living in New Zealand this was the highlight of the movie... He said New Zealand! Nobody from Hollywood mentioned or acknowledged New Zealand's existence back then...
@@jakerojas4756No need for that after enlightenment. You rob a man for a fish, you eat for a day. You learn to sell fish to a man, you eat for a lifetime. Proper business>theft/crime.
@@silvercloud1641 That makes no sense. First, you don't "learn to sell fish". You learn *to* fish, and once you have one and someone wants it, you sell it to them. That's the end of the sales tutorial... Second, in order to sell fish with any consistency you'd have to catch a whole bunch of them first. Especially if you want to eat for a lifetime. That doesn't sound like enlightenment, that sounds like getting a job at a fish market. Also, how is selling a fish going to help you eat for a lifetime? How much do you think each fish is worth? And the dude lives on an island...everyone can fish. Who's his market and how deep do you think it is that he'll be set for a lifetime? And third, what if you rob a man for enough money that you never have to fish again? Money can get you everything, included food that isn't fish. Wouldn't that be a pretty good strat too? And make for a wayyy better plot to a movie than a dude opening a fish n chips shop 😂
Tears flowed down my face when Bodhi said " You know there's no way I can handle a cage" It's a message to people to get out of the cage they are living in.
Johnny knew what he was doing he would rather kill himself then go to prison.. he let him go because he knew he wasn’t coming back RIP Patrick Swayze 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
obviously you can believe what you want but its pretty obvious he died. Think back to his quote earlier in the movie "It's not tragic to die doing something you love." This was the biggest and his final wave.
RIP Brock Little Hawaiian big wave legend who jumped off his board in the barrel at Waimea....gnarly beyond any stunt ever performed in the history of film
2023 and still watching point break, for me the turning point for Keanu's moving career and Patrick at his best, pure adrenaline, best movie best soundtrack, still stands up today, my go to film, nothing else has ever come close, a true one off, awesome dude, surf up💪
It's one of the movies that's far more layered and nuanced than it has any right to be, it's such a slow burn movie but not cuz of a lack action, but actual time spent with these characters, you actually learn to love and hate them in equal measure, it's funny how this movie alone is the reason (unfortunately) was the prototype for The Fast and The Furious
He joined the LAPD three years later, guided Sandra Bullock driving a city bus that was rigged to explode if it dropped 50 mph, then he took down a retired police officer-turned mad bomber
All I can only think is what a loss to the annals and arts of cinema it was when Swayze died. He was destined for greatness even more so than then and his life was cut short by the BIG C. Where ever you are Mr Swayze I hope your proud of your legacy in Cinema because I would be. RIP PS.
I will never forget seeing this for the first time and everyone in the theatre groaning about "Bells Beach" and the terrible accents of the "Aussie" cops. 😂 Phelpsy had the best line
Keanu Reeves is a fine actor, it's just his voice doesn't portray emotion very well. Same thing with Orlando Bloom. But they are definitely both getting better with age, as do most actors.
I know right!? he should have an epic ride where he 'totally shreds' and then dies.. or it should have been left open to the possibility of him surviving..
tosgem It's not his accent that made me laugh. It's the way he said it, the look on his face, the emotion. It was hilarious. Are you offended because you could be an Aussie?
Seems some people are confused about the ending. The surfer chose a big wave to purposefully wipeout on. He didn't want to surf, he wanted to die. He couldn't spend his life in prison so he chose to die doing what he loved, surfing.
I keep replaying 6:56. The match of the image of the wave in slow motion with those strings/sinthesizers sounding...there is something primal there, something deep which i can't quite identify. Goosebumps of biblical proportions.
The vastness of Jehovah's seas mixed with his crowning creation's (man) Passion willing to die free than rot ages. All that emotion and power summed up in one scene. This proved man wasn't only flesh. He was willing to die for his passion. He was more
Watching this as a young Aussie at the time, it never occurred to me that they wouldn't shoot this scene in Australia. Bells Beach has no town, not one Aussie car, pine trees (not native in Aus) and you can be sure that copper at the end was DEFINITELY NOT Aussie with that really bad accent "We'll get him when he comes back eeeeeeeeen!" LOL. All the same it was an iconic movie and I loved it!
