I’m a Norwich fan and the friendship trophy is actually class. Basically in the 1985 league cup final, Norwich won because of a Sunderland own goal. Both clubs were relegated from the top division at the end of the season despite both of them making the final. Now whenever they play each other, Norwich fans chant “we won the cup” and Sunderland fans respond with “we scored the goal” Always fun when we play Sunderland

fairplay award is actually good, especially in youth competitions. I remember in 1997, in the u20 wc, argentina not only won the cup and some other awards, they also won the fairplay trophy, because the coach, pékerman, wanted to win that as well, so he had a bunch of rules that the boys had to follow, for example, being late or absent too many times in training led to them being kicked out, they had to be respectful to everyone (cleaners, cooks, basically every person that made sure they had everything), and other stuff like that. If you pay attention to the players that came out of that, most if not all of them are some of the most respectful people nowadays, and the best coaches too

Friendly trophies are a thing in international rugby the Calcutta Cup being probably the most famous being awarded to the winner of every England Vs Scotland game. Derby & Forest also have the Brian Clough Trophy I believe and their rivalry is actually quite fierce.

My local team and our rivals started playing for a "trophy" last year over here in Australia. Basically, there is now a motorway called the M1 (used to be a freeway called F3) and they connect Newcastle and Central Coast. Because of this, when the 2 teams played it was known as the F3 derby. So to commemorate the old F3, they got a bit of concrete cut from the Motorway, and that is the trophy xD
The friendship trophy sounds amazing and other clubs should do something like that. Never rigal clubs but like clubs like who have a good fans relationship for example: Huddersfield and Barnsley.
The Norwich vs Sunderland Trophy will make the game twice important for each Team.. I think its not Pointless at all.. Its a good idea and important for the players who never won the Trophy as a small EPL or Under Team..
