Pointless Top 10: Wolves in World of Warcraft

One that definitely came to mind is Kyle the dog in Mulgore that you interact with through the quest "Kyle's gone missing!". He has his own voicelines as well which is a cool way to forever eternalize him. "Lok'Tar Ogar, Little Ezra. May the Phoenix burn brightly once more."

You used to be able to tame the Lone Hunter with the sword still embedded in him using a macro to logout the moment you have him tamed. it was my favorite hunter pet for awhile

Kinda surprised Lo'Gosh, the wolf wild god, or Thrall's wolf, Snowsong, didn't make it onto the list, but I like that the video shone a light on the lesser known wolves in the game.

I just came here to say that when my wife told me we had a top 10 to watch, I was excited because I thought she said "top ten walls" and I'm wishing that's what it was bc it'd be so on brand

Im bummed Old Cliffjumper wasnt mentioned. He has always been my favorite Rare neutral wolf in the hinterlands.

I didn’t consider how many cool and special wolves are in WoW! Kyle the dog in Mulgore, Hati, the Dark Souls reference in Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Fenryr in HoV etc. cool to think about! My personal favorite wolf is the Vicious War Wolf. I grinded RBGs in MoP for that one mount and I haven’t used a different ground mount since. In WoD it got a COMPLETELY unique /mountspecial never seen before or after where it sat back and howled!! Definitely the coolest mountspecial I’ve ever seen, sadly it was removed in Legion prepatch. The armor, the flag, colours, bushy tail it’s all so incredible still. Thanks for the video! Have a good weekend!

A little addendum to #6, the Cinder Wolves, Enhancement shamans can summon a Feral Spirit that has the same appearance as the Cinder Wolves if they are talented into the Elemental Spirits talent. They also have a chance to summon a lightning wolf and an ice wolf. I know that the lightning wolf is capturable by hunters as the Avatar of Xolotal in Zuldazar, but I don't think the literal frost wolf appears anywhere else in the game.

The reason some of these pets with weird appearances lose them is because these appearances are applied via a buff, and aren't a part of their model. The game has no easy way of discerning which buff is cosmetic and which gives the pet actual buffs (and some do both) so it has to try really hard to purge these buffs upon taming. People used to find ways around it, and I'd lie if I said I didn't try once or twice, but in the end Blizzard got pretty good at preventing the pets from retaining the buff.

I understand Skoll not making the cut but he should have had an honorable mention.

Always liked the wolves under Dalaran in WotLK; if you die to them, they play an animation of chewing into your corpse a few times before resuming their NPC idling.

Ghost Howl has to be the most nostalgic wolf in the game for me. I remember running into him on my tauren hunter back in the day and being sad that I couldn't tame it. Now, I don't remember if it was because I wasn't a high enough level, or if you just couldn't tame it back in the day, but it was the only real wolf like it in Mulgore so I thought it was really cool. Later I would find out about the extra lore they gave it, cementing it as a personal favourite of mine.

Shoutout to the wolf Timber from Dun Morogh, the first Rare mob I ever encountered in the game back when I started

Hey Crendor, I'm curious if you'll do a Pointless Top 10: Trolls, since trolls are probably the biggest underdogs and the most unappreciated playable race in all of Azeroth (also my favourite one). Also, great video, per usual with your top 10s.

Another fact about wolves: their howls are pitched just right to NOT echo. Enabling members of a pack to find one another.

This was great. A lot of big names didn't make it, which flows well with the pointlessness of the video. Also, I learned stuff. Pointless stuff, which is some of my fave stuff to learn.

Aw, I kind of hoped Kyle would be on the list. The dog you have to feed for that tauren who was voiced by the kid who passed away.

My favorite wolves are the Worg paclmother from LBRS, and the Ghostpaw wolves from Ashenvale which can use arcane explosions and other magic attacks.

I still remember the Gara quest line to be able to get her as a pet, so cool and quite long. plus as a pet Gara is awesome.

I tamed The Lone Hunter back in Wrath and used the glitch to have the sword stay in his head. I quit playing years ago, but Fleshwound is still my pet of choice.

It is interesting that the cinder wolves aren't anywhere else. Tho they do kinda overlap thematically with core hounds so I can kinda understand

When I think about wolves in WoW, the first ones I think about are the ones in the human starting zone. Not that special, but one of the first times I saw wolves in the game and it kinda stuck with me

My favorite wolf is still lupos who I named Nuke after my grandfather's dog who was half husky and half malamute. He was the first pet I kept from vanilla and I still have him to this day.

I remember fighting Garrosh until the servers went down for Warlords. Never did get the Kor’kron Warwolf and it haunts me to this day.

I have a fun idea for a top 10: top 10 strongest enslaveble demons! (in vannilla). it should help out a lot of warlocks ^^

Did wolves evolve on Dreanor and Azeroth simultanously? Because there are some at the southern parts of zangarmarsch.

I used to have the Lone Hunter on my hunter with the sword still in its head, but Blizzard took it from me. I was pretty upset since other people got to keep it, but for whatever reason, mine got taken. GMs wouldn't restore it either. Oh well, I have other fun things that aren't taken from me at least.

there is a wolf with a sword in his mouth in the hub zone in pandaria (cant remember the name) which is a reference to a boss in the dark souls games also pointless top 10 of other games references

Its really sucky when Blizz adds cool looking beasts but is like, you see this? yeah you can't have it. I really wanted one of those Cinder wolves but then I saw them classed as an elemental and its like aw :c no fie fie doggo 4 me I did get Gara though, and I even used to run Gara Taming groups where I'd help other hunters go through the event chain to get the things needed to enter the void phase so you can get Gara and, if you release Gara for whatever reason, you can return to that Void to tame a Lost netherwolf whenever you want so you Can go back and get another one I don't know if you can get more than one at once and with Fel Wolves, if you kill a specific rare in Tanan you can get a fel clenser, so you toss that bish at a fel wolf and it will make them tamable TBH Blizz needs to add more tamable versions of friendly mobs, I know theres that N'zoth toy that makes everything unfriendly, but some kind of consumable that you can toss at friendlies to make them tameable would be cool. like a bait ball or meaty/fishy/fruity/leafy/bready treat that gives them a buff and turns them Neutral, I mean we got all those cloud serpent colours and all but the red and black ones and a couple blue ones are untamable, and the two that require the n'zoth toy either that or just make some spot in a zone where the beasties spawn or have random rares that zip around specific spots in the zone like that one cloud serpent that spawns really high, if they're willing to fix that water dungeon to fill in a plot hole they should make more beasts available.

Somehow the direwolf looks smaller these days...like my orc looks like a human sitting on a dog

What about the first tame challenge petnback in the days of Vanille in duskwallow maesh ther were grimtotem tauren how would summon spirit wolves they only lasted a few sec bit the were tameable to do it u had to stack a lot of haste and have some world buff i think but you jad to time your tamr to the second or thed despawn like a half sec before the tame ended
