Points of Light Radio once again fellowships with Owen Snowdon. He's a member of Johnston’s Heroes 264 Orange Lodge in the United Kingdom. Mr. Snowdon sheds light on such things as the history of the order and why Orange Lodges parade on July12. He also explains the passion he feels for the Orange Lodge.

A note on the parading: The parading is meant to be a sort of reenactment of the Williamite Armys march to the River Boyne. Though thats probably a reverse engineered idea.

@@billannis6295 Sounds interesting. Let's have you or someone from LOL 18 Gagetown defenders as my guest. As a former resident of NB I'd be more than honoured to feature you and your lodge.

@@pointsoflightradio9785 Thanks for getting back to me. A few points you may or may not be aware of. Canada is a bit different than other OO jurisdictions. We have four degrees as compared to two in NI. We have the orange the royal blue the royal arch purple and the royal scarlet. Canada is the only country with the scarlet. I would be pleased to hook you up with our WM as well some key players in Newfoundland. Newfoundland is the most traditional in Canada

I'd like to see more on the OO and the symbolism they use, their history and current standing and views. Would be interesting to hear from Orders from different countries. The 2 1/2 explained for example. Its been interesting so far.

@@billannis6295 Thanks for the information. It's very interesting in regards to the symbols especially. Why is the arch used is another thing that I thought about. On sashes and art, banners etc in the UK I've saw a ladder, star, snake round a stick or pole, something thar looks like candles. I've saw these over the years as the parades are regular.

@sports872 the snake is from the biblical story where Aaron's rod turns into a snake. The ladder is Jacobs ladder in his dream. The arch is the gateway into the temple of solomon
