Welcome to another challenge video! Does the Meatball have the skills to get through, or is this one of the dreaded "impossible" challenges? Well find out as I attempt to complete a Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Hardcore Nuzlocke with only NORMAL TYPES!

Rules of the challenge:
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Before BD/SP came out, I played my copy of Pearl to re-familiarize myself and put together a team. I used a Loppuny and it was a decent team member, because it had Return. Then Return stopped existing for some reason.

Return, Hidden Power (save for BDSP and Legends Arceus), and Frustration were removed because it was the cheap way of dealing with stupidly strong moves. There's other options they could've done, but I guess they didn't feel like considering that

Mono normal runs where the first gym is rock are always interesting. Your bibarel strategy was an interesting workaround. Sinnoh is stacked when it comes to normal types.

The absolute hilarity that comes from Normal types having both a wide pool of secondary types and a wide pool of move coverage makes runs like these fun to watch, since no run is going to be exactly alike. I'd like to see the Fairy type runs completed (PLA seems like the safer bet since there's four whole Fairy types in LGP/E...) but I also think it would be funny to flip this video on its head and do Ghost types in D/P.

Been loving your vids. They taught me a lot so far. I have had a suggestion for a challenge, I have never seen anywhere online. A switch lock. Standard hardcore rules, but the team used in a gym can't be used in the run again. So if you take 6 pokes into a gym, all 6 can't be used after that gym. It gives runs a higher risk and a lot more planning, also it forces use of a lot of different pokemon instead of most runs where some pokes stay in a team 80% of a run. Hope this is an interesting idea you could use and hope to someday see it in a vid. Keep up the amazing content

Not watched yet but I'm impressed that someone has managed a fire type Nuzlocke of these game Edit: normal types are surprisingly slept on imo. Getting STAB on early game moves and with a mostly neutral matchup there was no chance it wouldn't be possible I would like to see a fire type run in Gold/Silver but if grass type is impossible then I imagine fire types would be too

(Un)fun fact! The veilstone game corner slot machines are rigged. Yeah you can't actually get a line unless one of the pokeballs shows up, or a clefairy pops out of the pokeball. This is why I prefer voltorb flip. Still got luck to it, but at least it isn't rigged!

If you want any specific run suggestions I really wanna see bw1 with fire types. I've made it to the elite four in a run once around a year ago but can't recreate it or find the time to do it again. First 2 gyms do take a ton of resets but the run is a lot of fun afterwards. Clay was a sweep too, and no I did not use Victini

I tried it with jinx and if i recall it’s almost impossible to beat brock in pokemon blue, maybe in pokemon yellow it’s possible since brock is weaker

While Dragon is one of my favorite types along with Fire, I don't think a Hardcore Nuzlocke run of Pokemon Legends: Arceus with only Dragon Types is possible since there are only 2 encounters. This should not be attempted so I'd mark it as "Impossible run, do not attempt."

I don't know if it's been done or if it counts for a mono type run but a run where you can use every type but that Pokémon must only have a mono type (ie no oddish but bellosom can be uses)

Because its based on the chart he showed at the beginning of the vid. He's aiming to have all mono-type nuzlocke/game combos filled in with preferably completed runs. Platinum is a 100%'d game so there's nothing to do with Platinum, chart-wise.

Wait so was this on a DS cartridge or emulator? If emulator, how did you trade bibarel? Also there’s the Desume FPS counter early in the video so this has to be emulator right?
