For the past couple of years, Niantic has used this system of rotating seasons. This also vastly limits the variety of Pokémon you can come across in Pokémon GO, causing the daily gameplay to feel boring. In my opinion, this has been a major issue with the game for a really long time. Let's talk about it!

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.
Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

Absolutely agree about the need for diversity. It feels tiring to see the same Pokemon, even during events. I've caught a million Growlithe, Paras, Koffing, Mankey, Machop, Magnemite etc. I don't necessarily want EVERYTHING opened up at once, but just a greater pool from different gens would be fantastic to maintain people's interest. There's so much potential for growth within the game, but also a real reluctance to do it at times.

I agree with you 100%, I've been saying a long time now that routes needs a huge improvements, spawns are just not worth it.

True, and it's not like the route spawns are plentiful either. There' s only a few spawns per route and usually they're trash like Pansear or something. Zygarde cells motivated me only cause I have a hundo, but now that the tedious project of 250 cells is over, there's not a whole lot of reasons left for me to do them anymore.

In 8 years, gyms still do effectively nothing. Using Ingress as an example, gyms could create territoy around it based on the team that currently holds it, allowing for rarer seasonal spawns to be available.

Here’s my idea, have a combining tool where you can “add” items to an incense and that will create a new “special” incense. So you could mix and match like three items with an incense, there could be a wide variety of combos, we’d have to figure out what makes what as players. Say you add three Sinnoh stones to an incense you get a special incense that attracts Sinnoh Pokemon. Or you add two XL candies and a dragon scale you get a dragon incense that attracts dragons. But think of all of the possibilities, an incense for weather boosted spawns, or one that spawns in Pokemon with a higher shiny chance, Pokemon with higher or lower CPs, second evolution spawns, 10km egg spawns, etc. I think overall it could create great way to actually use some of the less used items, encourage the walk and catch grind, and just make something unique. And all of this could be rolled out with a professor led research story that explains how to use the tool.

Since the biome update spawns have been terrible. Event spawns are practically non-existent because the biome spawns take over and completely block out the event spawns.

Yeah I hate the biome system, I live in the city, I'd have to travel (drive) for AWHILE before the biome changes (may have a few small pockets that are different biomes but they are few and far between). Imo, there should 1 pokemon of each type that spawns everywhere at any time of the year (so that new players always have an easy way to get a team of pokemon to counter any type), during events, featured pokemon should take the place of the pokemon that share 1 of the types (so if say machop is the designated fighting type that always spawns, but during an event where fighting types are featured, machop would stop spawning and instead you would get mons like croagunk, hawlucha, makuhita, meditite and so forth, they could also spawn in place of whatever their dual type is featured).

@@squozenfrozen1645 Because fans care about making the game experience better, wheras the "creatives" (even if they'd like to act similarly) are given direction by people that care only about either making $ or pushing a company philosophy (in the case of pogo that philosophy seems to be explore the world even if it's inconvenient for you).

Totally agree. I recently came back and that is my biggest discouragement. There’s only like 12 different pokemon spawning. Gets really boring really fast.

Another low effort way that would get me and probably others excited would be to spawn more third evolution forms and make it so that second and third evolutions can be shiny

Honestly all my parks have trash spawns. If you want shinys and variety, you have to cover ground in the car. Go to different parts of town for better variety unfortunately.

Count Jinsula Please If You Are Reading This I Beg You To Keep Doing These Videos Bringing Awareness To These Issues With The Game💯 There Is Not Enough Bigger RU-vidrs Covering These Problems And They Need To Be Addressed. How Do They Plan On Releasing Gigantamax Raids Etc When They Cant Even Get The Raids That Have Been In The Game For YEARS To Work Correctly. I think the wild spawn boringness is a result of level setting event spawns to be just interesting enough to get some engagement. I believe they don't want to "increase" what players get from "regular" events so they can keep string it out; therefore wild spawns can't be *that* interesting because then events would have to be more rewarding.

IMO. They should improve nests (greater number of spawns, rotates Sunday 12:00am). I do agree with the Route and Party spawns. These features give little incentive to use them. Ditto for the daily incense. I think there would be a way to set a daily spawn rotation, cycles round every 40 days or something long enough that it feels fresh.

I really miss the mass release of new pokemon. Heck, even like last year when a handful of Paldea pokemon were released, starters, pawmi and lechonk brought a lot of excitement. The drip of new releases gets slower and slower...

I also miss that. But there are just not enough unreleased pokemon left to do mass drops anymore. 3 or 4 mass releases and there would be basically nothing left to look forward to till the pokemon company releases generation 10. I hate it too, but for once there is a good reason for it. Part of the reason we get pokemon so slow now is because previous pokemon were mass released too often and the fact the game is in it's 8th year. There is just no solid solution until gen 10 drops.

Constantly seeing the same Pokémon is why I’ve been playing less. After a new event I play for a few days then I get bored of the spawns unless there’s a shiny I’m hunting I won’t play hard

Forget wild spawns, nest play is dead. Nobody here plays at parks anymore and purposely avoid parks altogether (in favor of more comfortable shopping malls). Discontinuation of EX raids was the massive nail in the coffin for motivation to play at parks. We used to hang around parks until the closing time just to raid for a chance to get an EX pass at our preferred park. No EX raid = no reason to play at parks. The nest pool improved a bit for the recent seasons (audino, tyrunt, etc.) but they're among the blandest set of pokemon like patrat or zigzagoon. They could've made nests/parks more exciting with nest system rework and/or more frequent elite raids but I doubt they have any interest to do anything with it.

I would like to see real biome according to the real world! Sea : water, marine pokemon Dessert : sand , fire , cactus Graveyards : ghost, dark pokemon Forest : Grass, fairy, wild animal. Mountain : Rock, Dragon City : Humanoid, Robots, Domestic pet pokemons Etc. And some legendaries actually HIDING in reasonable places. For example, Galarian birds hiding in forest. Rare dragons hiding on mountain top.

I think that there needs to be a region incense that could be sold in the shop for those who can't travel to these different regions that could spawn in for a set amount of time that costs 200 - 300 Poke Coins per item.

Rare spawns I have no problem with. I hate that we have too many ZERO spawns. I think the limitation might be a pool of 256 (give or take a few) possible pokemon spawns at a given time. So if someone is looking to complete their pokemon looking for Miltank, they are out of luck as it is in the zero spawn pool (as of this writing). Then when there is a new event, now they will spawn everywhere to the point where you get tired of them. It's the all or nothing way of handling spawns that irritate me.

Not to mention they killed many areas on their last "rebalance" i used to catch 50/60 Pokémon on my running route now i'm lucky if i can catch 5. The spawn points on my whole neighborhood got wiped out

Other games have a gift all and open all. Why not pogo? Also the unbalanced gifting also. 450 friends that you can have, but can only send 100 gifts daily and open 20. How does that math work? And no guaranteed egg if you have a slot open? Especially during an egg event? Don't get me started on trades....

Ok some people are new and dont have 8 years of candies stocked up. They need these seasons and time to build up budget pokemon for raids and pvp. it boggles my mind you want to let new players stuggle building a blastoid by only allowing 1 or 2 squirtles a week. Stop being an elitist and let others achive what youre bored of.

I agree the spawn pool is very small and the biome idea would be amazing. however to add every Pokémon that has been released so far is to much. I think the best middle ground and vastly different spawn pools for the different biomes, cities, parks, routes and party play and rotate that a few times per season.

To give you a different perspective, for players that haven’t played every day since 2017 they’re Pokédex’s likely aren’t complete and if the spawn pool was saturated with 800+ pokemon it would be incredibly hard to complete your dex. The seasonal spawns give players an incentive to play consistently to be able to catch and build candy for these pokemon. I also really don’t like your idea of having certain pokemon spawn in cities vs rural as that would almost REQUIRE you to travel to complete your dex if you don’t live near a big city as the closest city two me is 2 hours away which is not feasible for me to do on a consistent basis

YES. 100% They could keep the seasonal and biome rotations, but increase the variety of potential spawns. I’m surprised they haven’t introduced more type-specific lures/incense.

Would be nice to have something like a deployable Home Pokestop, deploy a pokestop anywhere but you wont be able to change it until say next month(?) Maybe 2 pokestops (1 home, 1 workplace) a big percentage of paying players are adults, young adults, and VERY busy adults, and there is no way most of us can allow ourselves to derail from a daily commute in order to catch a say Gardevoir about 7 blocks away just for her to flee as soon as we get there... for some of us driving is the only option and almost collided couple of times... the pokemon go plus+ helps but is kinda slow, i wish they added an option to prioritize Pokestops over Catching and option to skip to the next pokemon in range.

I’m completely agree, I only been playing for a bit more than a year and unless there is an event the daily game is boring, for instance, I went today for a little walk and play a bit but other than raids I don’t feel particular motivation because I got pretty much all evolutions and enough candies of every day Pokémon, I miss one day events such cryogonal or the ones of bird type Pokémon, that would keep me more engaged than community day followed by more community day, I feel my community barely engage unless it’s a good Pokémon such metagross I feel they should listen ur suggestions, the game would be much better

I disagree with the Biome scenario that you were discussing. Go already regionally locks so many pokemon, let’s not lock even more of them behind environments - I absolutely think this would help kill the game. So unless the Biomes shifted every season (or other period).

I got my self 96% shadow totodile and now I dont have enough candy to evolve to totodile and god knows when I will catch totodile to get more candies and I dont want to spend rare candies since I need them for mewtwo

If I live in a city I should expect city spawns, if I’m in a forest I’ll see forest specific types. Isn’t that what the biome system is. I can use an adventure incense to bring in different Pokemon.

I personally was thinking/hoping for an update to the nearby list. Once you catch a good/evolved form of something I never end up seeing it on the nearby. I was thinking about something where nearby prioritizes Pokemon out of the ordinary. Like it was talked about in the video I’m getting bored of seeing the same 6 Pokémon all the time. I do love the biome idea though.

Another note, we know the real reason they do this. They have the seasonal spawns because its another reason to keep you playing and checking in on the game. Its very artificial unfortunately but in a way understandable.

I actually had a legendary wild spawn just outside my house about an hour ago, one that I hadn't seen before so I didn't know it was a legendary until I took a closer look afterwards 😅 Made my day even if it just was a Mespirit 😃

They really screwed up the route thing. It shouldn’t require connecting PokeStops to make a route. They’re so stupid they just can’t seem to figure out that ANYTHING that relies on PokeStops is going to ruin the game because most players don’t HAVE PokeStops nearby.

That would dilute the spawn pool way too much. Plus seasonal spawn pools make it easier for newer players to get better IVs and more candy for particular pokemon. I do agree, however, that they make the spawn pool too small for the seasons. I feel like mixing your idea of using biomes for different spawn pools and doing a full regional dex as the overall spawn pool each season. For example, a season of boosted wild spawns of Pokemon from Kanto. You could find Bulbasaur in a park, or Squirtle by a river/beach. Although please don’t let it be kanto I think even the new players have enough of that 😂

I think the iv’s for wild Pokémon needs adjustment as well. I have caught hundreds of Mankey for example and I don’t think I have one that is at 90%.

To be fair, since the Biome Update, it looks to me that Niantic had somewhat boosted the spawn rate for Frigibax, which was practically impossible to find after its debut.

I actually prefer the reliability of seasonal spawns. I think the actual issue is there isn't enough different pokemon each season. If we had more variety each season it wouldn't feel like the same thing all the time.

I really think the game and particularly the players would benefit from a system wherein wild spawn Pokemon could be found only in the environments they might logically be found. Let city players catch as many Ratatta and Pidgies as they like, but force them to venture outside the city to catch Pokémon that would logically be found in rural settings.

I have to partially disagree. I do agree that having unique, incense-like spawns for party-play and routes is necessary to maintain their respective appeals, but migrating to a biome spawn system will hurt most players. MOST players do not have the time or money to travel so freely, let alone often, to amass the Pokemon & Pokemon candy necessary to be competitive. Also, with your local area having even fewer spawns and more permanent spawns, you'll get bored even faster.

Totally agree that the biome system doesn't really work as it should. I actually didn't know that they limit which 'mons appear in a season! Why would they do this?!?!?! xD Why not make it so that water types ONLY appear near a water source, for example? It could help level the playing field for rural players, if players in cities could only catch say steel, normal and electric. I don't think I'm explaining myself well xD

I would LOVE the idea of different pokemon species spawning depending on biome would be such a great idea. Like I saw bats at this one church in a town 2 hours from me was at, it was surreal and I was thinking of Zubats (it also makes them more special that way doesnt it?) It would be nice to add seasons too so you may find a wild Articuno at a snowy area (but not dangerous of course). Just need that excitement would be amazing.

I feel they do the same as in the aimé video games You can’t catch all the Pokemon of the Pokédex in each game and need to wait years for the next to complete the global home Pokédex In PoGo, you have 3 months to wait I would propose to exceed the number of different species in a season rather than all the random Pokédex Pokemon It would be hard to earn candies and XL with more Pokemons but less spawn of a same Pokemon At the beginning of the game : it was limited to few pokemons, today you meet a lot of it on a year

Totally agree with all of this. I'd also love if you did a video on how the buddy system is kinda bland. I think the only useful thing with the buddy system (besides the medal) is the catch assist. The gift/souvenir/find location is so inconsistent and the best buddy seems like a slap on the face almost. 300 hearts for a CP boost and a best buddy ribbon. Best buddy should give you something like a lower excitement rate. Or a super high chance of candy XL when walking with that buddy or even like 5 mega energy or something. Once you reach best buddy there just really isn't any incentive to ever have that buddy again

Caught a wild Venusaur a couple weeks ago but it was 0*. Was still cool to see though and I guess I do wish it happened a little more often. Though I only care about gens 1-3 with some exceptions so I bet I see stuff I just don't care about that others would be hyped for. I have been saving 3* and 4* I don't like to trade but I still haven't gotten involved in any communities.

I started playing in April 2024 (this year) The main reason why I still go out and catch pokemons is because I need stardust, and for this I heavily rely on my plus + autocatcher. I ain't got no time to catch ghastly number 400 tbh. Now, if there was a system like the one you mention, I would be more interested. But the downside is that it would be a bit difficult to farm pokemons for candies

I would like to respectively disagree on making even regional pokemon through biomes, not all people can travel nor find people willing to trade it for a reasonable pokemon. The problem i see with regional pokemon is people get too crazy demanding shinies or other regional or such you may not have. It would be better to build something similar to lures that are type based that temporarily over the overworld's spawns to it. Like how Scarlet/Violet you collect type energy shards to change the type it transforms into.

It would be nice if they would stop the rotations each season. It's to the point I'm missing a few pokemon in the dex that haven't been in rotation, like shedninja, relicanth, etc. It's even worse considering that galar needs more pokemon released.

I have 4000 candies for paras .... As an idea I think they should give this opportunity to exchange candies for Stardust of any Pokemon

They should add a system where once a month or maybe once every couple you can “phase region” where you travel to a new biome just for yourself where only Pokemon from that set or region spawn for a limited time before cooldown or whatever so that you yourself can choose when and where you want to see new Pokémon. Maybe once a week for like a couple hours. They could make the map look different and special and add a whole new level of excitement and man, it needs it. I live in London Ontario and I’m practically locked out of every bit of content aside from remote raids and battle league. The community is dead af here I only ever see gyms change teams, nobody raids like ever so I’ll never get a shadow anything bc my roster is generally lacking and week from not playing for like 8 years. I have nothing to do but catch doo doo Pokémon all day and hope I can stack up gyms to get coins to remote raid. It’s really sad.

There are many (most?) players that do not have the ability to travel around to get region-locked pokemon. Improvements are certainly needed, but this suggestion would do more to actually hinder a large number of players. A more equitable solution is needed.

I think that what ever raid boss your doing with a bunch of friends should be the same for the encounter. Like if one person gets the hundo or shiny so should everyone else. Players just took down the same boss why not get the same encounter. Right?

I totally agree and would like them to stop spawn more pokemons around the pokestops/gyms. Have a walk in the country side and count the spawns... Aren't pokemon supposed to be wild creatures ? Why do they live more in cities than in country side ?

I think rotations are good however I think we should outside of nests have a random Chance to catch anything yes. I think we will never have that look a Dragonite feeling from 2016 but if monthly the allowed 1 legendary to roam wild and allow players to get xl candies easier that would be wonderful. I think you need to understand that requiring expensive travel will kill the game. I still have not caught wigglet because there is only a 10 ft wide beach near a golf course by my house. The regional rotation was a very good add so that if you do Travel the Taurus has the same chance for someone else to be Shellos or Maractus, corala, boffaluant, or comfey for Example in their respective region. The daily incense soft of help you get out of the Pokémon stuck in rotation. Having to catch every pokemon in a pokeball has me realize just how many pokemon are completely inaccessible during many months of the year. I do think we should have 100% random spawn tiles, but I think seasons are good for The game.

The worst is event spawns overtaking everything. In September 2023 I went on a once in a lifetime trip to the Dominican Republic. What happened? Paldea event launched. Guess how easy it was to find maractus and Corsola. Now I just got back from Bulgaria and guess what happened? Adventure week spawns. Thankfully this time I was able to get Eastern Europe spawns but several were hard to find.

This is why they made regionals easier to get from Routes - which is part of Jinsula’s complaint. He wishes that Route spawns were not the boring regionals we see all the time. 🤷‍♂️

Caught 771, seen 826 of 1025 pokemon. Most pokemon I don't have are variants of the same pokemon. Or are region locked. So why would I feel excited about pokemon go? Or go out and play pokemon go? It has gotten boring AF.

I don’t mind the season Pokemon, but they should add more variety during events. They need to have PVE relevant Pokemon in every event. Because who cares if they add more Pokemon if they are going to get thrown in the trash anyway. Like a Pumpkaboo is not spawning right now and I don’t want it to. Or a Ledyba. We need some relevant Pokemon in every event.

when gen 9 dropped we literally had 2 months straight of nothing but those pokemon I avoid pawmi and lechonk spawns in protest now - I have 98s and hundos of each as well

ive brought this up with a couple youtubers ive watched over the years and have yet to have anyone say anything about it but why does no one talk about the store boxes at all? im one of the unlucky few that have the absolute worst boxes imaginable that stay in my store for months and i mean literally months. i know im not the only one with this issue and just wish niantic would be made aware of how annoying it is, im a raider but the best box i have for raid passes is a 2 and 2 for 450 coins.

The biome system is trash and since it was introduced event spawns barely spawn. It's ruined so many events.

Nah, your spot on. The spawns suck. The events just make it worse as it's limited to even smaller groups. How the hell have they made it worse than 2016? Finding Jynx or similar was truly wild, then ylud spread the news to friends. Like how there were those user generated pokemon spawn maps. You couldn't just head out and bam, every available spawn just down at the park.

I like some spawns like ratata helps me get badge done. But the rest seem so old. I get 2-3 shinies a day sometimes. And alk i do is transfer them as i got spares. Even the cds some aren't that good. Yes ponyta has good and bad views but at least i get my hundos with legacy move

This game has so much potential but Niantic simply doesn't get it. They focus on pumping out paid tickets and leech money from the community. It's really not that hard to make some simple changes that would improve the game by 1000%. They don't understand that more fun = more players and more players = more money. But yeah. It's the same bs since 2016 and I'm pretty tired to wait for Niantic to make some good changes.

The fad is over and Niantic is screwed. If the game simply collapsed they could walk away with a bag full of cash. But there are too many players left to shut it down yet not enough to justify more resources.

I would like there to be some sort of "catch mastery" system where you get a stardust bonus when you reach certain amounts of catches of a Pokémon. Like when you catch 500 you get 50 more stardust per catch after that, and 100 stardust more at 1000 catches, etc... Would incentivize still catching the Pokémon I've been seeing thousands of over the years.

It should be rotated .... And also they should give Stardust farming more preference .... Ot gets boring i agree .... Events are good but apart from the event exclusive Pokemon which are available for limited number of days .... Once the event is over the spawns are boring nd the game just dips way too much
