Can I beat Pokémon Platinum with only the cutest of Pokémon using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the first Cute Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause);
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Fun Fact: the mons that you can bring in Amity Square (other than the starter) are all of the mons with overworld sprites made for use elsewhere in Sinnoh (except the starters). Drifloon is seen in the overworld at Valley Windworks for you to interact with, Psyduck block route 210, and the others are all found in cities next to their trainers. That’s the reason only those dozen or so mons were selected, they already had the sprites.

A heartgold soulsilver run using pokemon that have no evolution lines. You could get dunsparce and unknown before first gym, and hgss has a solid variety for single evolution lines. Fun encounters like herecross and pinser, Taurus and Miltank, as well as lapras. Might be too easy, but sounds like fun

I love how unique your runs are. One I would like to recommend is "Mono-Color". Using only pokemon under a color category in the Pokedex. I feel like some really good picks if you want a lot of encounters are Red, Blue, Purple, and Brown. Just a tip, don't choose Pink. There are 14 fully evolved pink pokemon as of gen 4

That sounds cool. What would be the ruling in terms of mons that change their colour during the evolution line. would you count them out completley or keep them so long as they are the colour of the run in their final evo?

@@DGDDice Nope. You can only use mons that are that color. Let's say you're doing a "Mono‐Brown" challenge. You get an Eevee. You can't evolve the Eevee. But you can use pre evolutions. Like for instance in the same Mono Brown challenge you get a Rattata. You can use and evolve the Rattata.

i think an only dragon types run would be pretty cool, specifically in xy. the introduction of fairy types makes dragons much more fragile, and i feel like early game would also be pretty difficult, considering how slowly most dragon types level. plus xy has a decent number of dragon types to choose from iirc (also you don't see a whole lot of gen 6 runs)

Also, choice specs just increases the power of "spam super effective move", which is an unavoidable strategy in a pokemon game sometimes. Its actually more of a challenge, cause if you didn't have it hold the choice specs, golduck would have been able to have MORE move options. So I definitely agree. Great video!

I really like that you edit your videos with zoom ins on things that are left up to chance intermittently to keep the viewer on their toes, instead of only highlighting when bad things happen; it's not so frequent that it gets annoying, but it's just enough to keep the suspense up

That Amity Park bit captures how I usually end up feeling about Nuzlockes- you fall in love with these pokemon, and know, just *know*, that one day your hubris will get them killed forever. I recently lost a mono-Buglocke at the second gym in Pokémon X, and I was completely devastated watching my friends die one by one. Thank you for capturing that feeling. Loved the video!

I know I'm late to the party, but I adore these themed challenges. Sometimes challenge run videos can feel repetitive, but these feel really... refreshing? Especially since you pick your team based on metrics that aren't gameplay-driven (like type), themed challenge runs don't just have their own sets of obstacles, but they have their own personalities. I thought it was really classy that you took us viewers along on the strolls through Amity Square. I feel like the newer generations -- especially Alola -- are criminally underrated. I expect these have been suggested before, but: could you perhaps do a challenge of Sun/Moon/USun/UMoon with only Alolan Form pokemon? Or maybe X&Y with a team that can all participate in a Sky Battle? Thanks for the amazing content!

Got an interesting challenge for you, only really doable pre-gen 6 though. A nuzlocke with only Pokemon that don't have footprints, no evolving to their final stage if it has a footprint. List is fairly large, but the early game is fairly brutal.

Very interesting concept! I was just grinding out accessories in amity square when this came up in my recommendations. I'm trying to 100% every part of pokemon platinum, including the entire fashion case. It's nice to see stuff like this get noticed in more traditional playthroughs.

Stat based challenges: You're only allowed to use pokemon that have whichever stat you chose for it as their highest base stat. Could even get 6 runs out of it. I wonder which one would be toughest.

The moment around 13:10 really got to me. A few years ago, my childhood cat died to liver disease, and it made an immense impact on my life. I knew I would never be able to rub its belly, or cuddle with it on my bed again, and i was devastated. This video helped me realize that that is always what it will feel like. An immense, terrifying feeling of devastation and loneliness, one that, sadly, you can't escape from. It's brutal. That's why you have to savour the moments you experience with your loved ones, before it's too late.

When I first saw this video I was half expecting you to dictate cute based on the pokémon's levelup moveset, with the moves belonging mostly in the cute category in contests. Turns out you found a much more interesting way of doing it and I was not disappointed. Good job!

OK yes! I've been looking forward to another one of your videos so I could come in early. I love the idea of a theme team rather than a monotype team so this is perfect and the nocturnal, the headbutt. Great ideas. Maybe you could hold a poll or just have people give their ideas on certain themes, kind of like the old pimpnite videos and then play through nuzlocks like that. But I think your videos are amazing and you're a great creator and I hope to see more from you!

The bread pick up line from the mantis was great. And as far as totally awful pick up lines, you could always say something along the lines of "Baby, you're so cute you must be a Slakoth, 'cuz I always see you loafing around." No need to pay me any royalties for that one haha. I'm not even sure Slakoth qualifies for your ruleset (I haven't watched much of the video yet), but maybe it should for the pickup line alone
