Trick Room is a gimmick. Not something to build a team around, but something to plan a specific fight around for sure. A pokemon like bronzong (only one weakness and lots of resistances) is a great user of it, and then you get 3 turns to beat up a boss with a slow, strong mon. And I say that as a showdown player who plays a lot of comp singles. Many abusers of TR aren't quite there yet, but I think it is still worth keeping in mind if you have to deal with a boss with fast mons (and a decent number of them have a high average base speed on their team). I've not used it myself, but I think it has good potential for some specific bosses, especially ones like Cyrus who have a large Rock weakness and a very fast team while Rock mons are generally rather slow. For example, he leads Houndoom, and will likely go for flamethrower on bronzong, but if you have heatproof, you take the hit, switch into a resisted flamethrower, and you can easily revenge kill with earthquake. It will require actually hitting with a rock move, but you get the idea, you get decent mileage. Since more threatening mons tend to come in first, you kill all of those while by the time TR runs out he only has the less threatening mons left. I forget if they save their ace for last in this game, but either way the 4th mon out will be very bad against you.

Thank you for that tip! I'll definitely have to keep that in mind.

Octillary is better than you'd think 105 in both attacking stats is by no means weak. It can use both Surf and Waterfall as an attacking stab so you can prep it for whichever would be more effective against (even if hm waterfall does come a bit late) , and other than that 75/75/75 pure water isnt the most stellar defensive profile but it's nothing to sneeze at when it's not getting hit super effective against most things it's biggest problem is that 45 speed. It's really rough to be just okay defensively but also get outsped all the time However, unlike most other water mons it has a damn good movepool. In addition to the surf/ice beam combo (it gets IB by level up, so even if youd banned game corner from a run you'd have it) it gets bullet seed to hit other water types (I.e., crasher wake) signal beam/gunk shot to hit grass types it might be up against, psybeam, and even flamethrower by tm. In platinum it even gets Rock Blast via reminder so it can take a big chunk out of Flyings! If it were like 20 points faster i'd be reccommending it really hard but as is it's a solid fill in mon that can handle quite a few supereffective attacking roles depending on who you might have lost over a run

@grumpygengar22 Год назад
Yeah I suppose the move pool is pretty stellar. I should use one for myself in a future run and give it more of a fair chance

Is Pokémon ORAS that much better than Ruby Sapphire and Emerald? Is Pokémon BDSP that much worse than diamond,pearl and Platinum?
@grumpygengar22
@grumpygengar22 Год назад
No and Yes. I think ORAS were great games but they omitted some of the best features of Emerald that they could have added. BD/SP stayed true to Diamond and Pearl, but that's the problem.. Diamond and Pearl were very unfinished and unpolished overall, and none of the great features from Platinum actually made it into the games.

20 minute video!? Oh boy I’m in for a treat. Great job of showcasing pastoria city. I for some reason never bothered with the soil berries which was honestly a huge mistake on my part. If I replay this game, I will definitely utilize growing berries. Pastoria gym trainers are honestly pretty tough. I’m pretty sure the azumarill in that gym has the huge power ability. I’m very happy you got a croagunk on route 212. I used one in my platinum nuzlocke and it completely obliterated Crasher wake because of its dry skin ability. But then I got jumpscared by my rival in canalave city and it was a massacre. My drifblim and toxicroak died. I’m hoping you can keep those Pokémon alive longer than I did. The Pokémon mansion has an encounter in its backyard. It is known as the trophy garden and it is basically a guaranteed pichu/pikachu. Light ball pikachu is surprisingly fun to use. And raichu is incredibly underrated. It gets access to lots of great coverage moves such as focus miss, dig, and grass knot. It did a surprising amount of work in my e4 run. And before you go into route 210’s foggy part, please look at the trainers teams. Most of them are run killers especially the double battle with a raichu and a gyarados.

Wow 20 minutes, you're spoiling us with this one. Your team is also shaping up nicely, lots of threats with good redundancy. Guess that shows how many good pokemon there are in Platinum. It's not quite to the level of X & Y where you're tripping over monsters every route, but you would have to get pretty unlucky to end up with a bad team in Sinnoh. Platinum did a lot to flesh out DP, but nowhere is that felt more than the Great Marsh. It seemed like there was nothing but Wooper and Quagsire whenever I went. And yeah, the deep mud was always a pain. Some people may have already mentioned this, but I'm surprised in your overview of the Mansion on Route 212 you neglected the Trophy Garden. I understand you probably have more than enough encounters as is, it just seems like a good thing to highlight. Or, maybe this wouldn't count as a unique encounter? I can't remember if the Trophy Garden has a unique Met Location or not.

Trophy garden is indeed its own thing
@grumpygengar22
@grumpygengar22 Год назад
Yep, I honestly just totally forgot about it. Which is weird because I actually used a Raichu in the run I did before the walkthrough, so I'm surprised that I missed it. Might go back for it later if I feel that I need it.

@@grumpygengar22 I also forget when exactly you gain access to Route 212 from the north. I think in DP you just have to stop at the Contest Hall first, but idk if you have to do the Fantina battle first in Platinum. But you should be able to reach the Trophy Garden before Maylene if you wanted, which may be important if you're having a bad run and getting low on encounters, or maybe for specific challenge runs. As an aside, I appreciated how you could challenge Wake before Maylene if you wanted in DP. It's not the same level of free choice as gens 1 or two, but the option is there. Really only relevant for casual playthrus given level caps tho.

Ive noticed that when you work woth the box that you use the Withdraw and Deposit functions. I suggest using the Move Box function and you can move pokemon and withdraw and deposit without having to switch between the two functions.

I don't know why but Gallade just seems to have death written on its face from the moment you introduced it... Idk if its because of personal experience or the fact you immediately gave it the EQ TM, but Ill knock on some wood for your sake :P
