It sucks that so many of the cinematic move animations just got stripped down to their bare essentials. I thought they were going somewhere cool with PLA, since I loved a lot of the move animations from it :(
@@vulth9907 for the sake of multiplayer they made it so that animations are faster i rather have much faster animations for sv then to not enjoy it with my friends however in a legends game gimme the very long ones ykwim
Gamefreak for the love of god just give the developers more time. They can make miracles with such time constraints imagine the possibilities with more freedom.
@@MuffoonMayham Legends was also an open world game and had far better animations and would let you roam around during battles. This is a massive step backwarsa
My favorite too. It's actually cool that we can now see Shifu's martial moves in real time, but it's poorly executed as we have to wait and watch all three turns pausing between each animation as if we're still in the 32-bit era. So Sw/Sh's visual and camera effects are still better IMO.
There are butchered ones like Behemoth Blade, Magma Storm and Judgement but I cannot excuse Dragon Energy reusing the same animation as Origin Pulse. Like c'mon now?!
@@CupcakeCollector or, or or, since the energy to Dynamax is/was Eternatus' power to begin with; ofc it can use Dynamax Cannon normally, but not Eternabeam the move it uses when its overloaded with energy. which the phenomenon ONLY happened in Galar, for plot reasons. Or are we forgetting this, as you're so quick so call everything "lazy"??
Gotta love how Dragon Ascent went from Rayquaza actually having a proper animation for ascending into the sky in ORAS, to not even have the background changed in S&V. Good thing I can emulate the newer trash
Like you can say whatever animation as it's objectifely worse, however, Scarlet/Violet and Legends Arceus are infinitely better than any game released post gen 5. When it comes to core gameplay, Scarlet/violet are OBJECTIFELY the best like there is no argument to be had.
Considering the move it was not surprising it got cut Is basically a exaggerated cutscene that would have no way to be in the current game Same thing will happen to Zygarde Core Enforcer
1. Too animated, especially for Scarlet and Violet's open world layout 2. It's energy leaked out in the form of power spots in the Galar Region, and thus it can't absorb the region's energy cuz it's in Paldea
@@CupcakeCollectorthe major irony is that outside of the character models, the mons had next to nothing really change about them. It’s just they were too ‘lazy’ or gamefreak wasn’t allowed to properly implement them, in a open world map without causing giant domes of screen changes with changed to fixed cutscenes similar to Z moves. Seriously, some of the moves were neutered to not go as hard as they originally did to likely make even spectator view from all angles see it clearly and not get some kind of seizure lawsuit maybe. Which you could imagine several players doing combat in the same general spot doing multiple of these actions and all being viewable for those not in combat could lead to shenanigans on animation stacking.
The only reason why I’m going to try to hold back my criticism for the downgrade animations is because LA and SV were the first open world games, and they probably wanted to focus on learning that. Now that they have experience with open world Pokémon games, if they still make the animations look horrible, I won’t be able to hold back 😭 if open world battles are the problem, then they should revert back to cut in battles. No one had a problem with it before, and if we get good animations again I definitely don’t think people would mind cut in animations coming back
there is no reason to hold back, legends arceus was released before scarlet and violet, and it did better than scarlet and violet in terms of animations, otimization, and the game was a buggy and glitchy mess, and im 99% sure that scarlet and violet is in this state rn, because it was a rushed game, legends arceus released 1-2 years ago? They really did a mess.
80% of these attack animations are so devoid of life it’s disappointing… For crying out loud they just reskinned Regidrago’s signature move to be just like Origin Pulse
@@talonitex6441 first of all it's sugarcoating second of all I'm not sugar coating it I'm being real and honest these animations aren't bad though just not good as the previous incarnations
@@talonitex6441 that's not how that how that works just because something isn't as good as something else doesn't mean it's bad but I guess I'm narrow-minded person wouldn't understand
While pokemon is no stranger to adding broken moves or pokemon tornadus a good mon already absolutely does not need a more accurate and powerful blizzard with prankster nasty plot
Idk why ppl dont understand but eternatus need for dynamax energy to use eternabeam while it can use dynamax cannon from its core which also have dynamax energy.
How did they manage to destroy EVERY animation in SV ? There is no impact in all those moves... Rip precipice blades, spacial rend, shadow force, dragon energy... to cite only a few of them. Given how sick animations were in Legends that's criminal. Also the camera does not really like to show the Pokemon :-(
@@DatCartoonistGuy that i don't know since i don't have much gen 7 pokemon stored only my starter and legendary ohh and one ultra beast namely Buzzwole
Ok so most are eh i can look past, but there are two i wanna mention. One good and one MASSIVE disappointment. The good being Fleur cannon, I like that the added more detail to the hand launching the attack. Now for the bad.... Steam eruption. It literally has almost NO attack effect. It's literally a moment of: I point at you and you die In previous gens there was water/steam depending on how you look at it, firing from the pipes on Volcanion's back, which has been TOTALLY REMOVED. Massively upsetting primarily due to the removal of scald, meaning if Volcanion sees competitive usage, we're gonna be forced to look at a disappointment of a change.
Scarlet and Violet pretty much just made the effects look much more simple and at the same time, horrible, like, they're not as cool as they used to look like and yet people still try to gaslight US into thinking is an upgrade to Sword and Shield 💀💀😭😭
@@Trollfox64 ...No? Like, I prefer a simple animation with not much flare over an animation were the Pokemon jumps in place and the enemy gets hit. I'll agree that Sw/Sh looked much prettier than S/V, but the animations were a price to pay for the graphics.
@@gasterthemaster6490 what are you talking about? literally no pokémon game aside from legends arceus has had physical contact with physical moves gen 9 is just overall worse than gen 8
in scarlet and violet is now a useless move since you can't even use it, but in sword and shield supposedly eternatus wasn't allowed to get the move (legally) and yet had animation
Pokemon follow the same pattern, if your not the star of the show you get a bad animation, also omg pokemon legends Arceus probably has the best move animations with the sword and shield legendarys up with them, we need more legends games xd
They shorten the animation for raid battles and the fans who cry staying animation make the battle draw out to long 😢😢 now look what we got half arse animation
players: *use to skip or speed up text to accelerate the gameplay* also players: *complain about animation attacks being quicker to save time in gameplay and having no bg cause battles are now free camera keeping the actual battlefield where they are* ._.xD
i don’t understand why the gamefreak meat riders think a good animation means 2 hour long movie look at legends arceus those were actually decent and if anything were shorter than sv
What are you talking about mate, havent you played any of the previous game all of the previous games like ss,sm and even xy does great job appropriating signature move animations for previous generation pokemon, stop embarrassing yourself
IG Dmax Cannon but no Eternabeam kinda makes sense. Every other animation getting gutted is like giga painful though...DLC better have some *GAS* signature move anims for the new pokemon or istg.
Compact: consisting of parts that are positioned together closely or in a tidy way, using very little space. What I mean by this is that the moves are not outrageously animated and actually work fine in battle.
@@Lolikbenhier yeah. Barely animated would certainly qualify your definition of neat and tidy🙄 There is a difference between cleaning your room and just throwing everything away
Anyone else think it's stupid that Galar Zapdos cannot use at least ONE actual electric type attack? And that Galar Moltres firey wrath doesn't burn the opponent too?
I get why they had to ruin the cinematics, making sure the camera and game wouldn't freak out on them, but its still such a shame to see all that hard work go to waste.
Sword and Shield literally came out only 1 mainline game ago (2 games if you count Arceus). How the fuck are they already killing the good stuff from those games?
Man, most of these gen 9 animations suck. Did they seriously think no one would notice that Dragon Energy and Origin Pulse look the f*ing same, aside from color, in gen 9? 😱
4 me Is interesting make More minimalist the signatures moves for don't need to deteriotate many the fps or everithing what supiste Is her real objective
