Oarmstr03 won the coin toss and opted to go second. I opened with Dreepy as my active Pokémon and held a decent hand, including two Drakloaks. My first turn was quiet, focusing on setting up the board. Oarmstr03 also opened passively, benching a Ralts while drawing additional cards with Iono. No immediate threats emerged, which suited my patient playstyle.
I drew Natu and quickly benched it alongside Dreepy, aiming to evolve both over the coming turns. Playing Hyper Aroma gave me essential cards for evolution, and I evolved Dreepy into Drakloak in the active spot. Using Call for Family from Pidgey helped me fill out my bench with Mimikyu and Venonat, preparing for a strong midgame.
Meanwhile, Oarmstr03 was setting up their strategy by evolving Ralts into Kirlia and attaching Bravery Charm to their active Drifloon. This signaled that they were preparing to endure long exchanges while they built toward their Gardevoir ex strategy.
Turn 3 was where my strategy began to take shape. I evolved Natu into Xatu, Venonat into Venomoth, and Pidgey into Pidgeotto, solidifying my bench. Venomoth applied pressure with Perplexing Powder, confusing Oarmstr03’s Drifloon. This disruption slowed their momentum, giving me a chance to plan my next evolution.
On their side, Oarmstr03 evolved Kirlia into Gardevoir ex, signaling their power move. Gardevoir ex's Psychic Embrace allowed them to rapidly attach energy to Drifloon, but it also placed damage counters on Drifloon, weakening its defenses.
Turn 4 marked the turning point when I evolved Drakloak into Dragapult ex and brought it into the active spot. I attacked Oarmstr03’s Drifloon with Phantom Dive, dealing 200 damage and spreading damage counters onto their benched Gardevoir ex and Cresselia. This move knocked out Drifloon, giving me my first prize card and control of the battlefield.
Oarmstr03 responded with another Drifloon in the active spot and tried to rebuild their energy supply, but the pressure from my Dragapult ex was already forcing them onto the back foot.
With Dragapult ex firmly in control, I played Boss’s Orders to target Oarmstr03’s other Drifloon and knocked it out with another Phantom Dive, spreading damage to Gardevoir ex and other Pokémon. This constant damage pressure began to take its toll on Oarmstr03’s field, forcing them to scramble for answers.
Despite a strong counterattack with Cresselia’s Lunar Blast, which knocked out my Dragapult ex, I remained in control thanks to my well-developed bench.
After using Super Rod to recycle Dragapult ex and Dreepy, I kept my momentum by evolving Dreepy again and setting up my next big play. By Turn 7, Dragapult ex was back in the active spot. A final Phantom Dive knocked out Oarmstr03’s Drifloon and Lumineon V, securing my remaining prize cards and the win.
